    I like the really abrasive DEP stuff for sure, but it's incredible how great they are when it comes to melody. I love it when extreme bands throw in melody because is just makes the abrasive stuff that much more powerful...because it's that much more deliberate. These guys are genius.

    • @dakat5131
      @dakat5131 4 роки тому +7

      tbh I like the "softer" stuff more.(with of course,the usual dose of crazy rhythms and sounds)I'm not confident to say there shouldn't be some abrasive tracks, but not every track should be approaching noise either.

    DEP wrote some of the greatest melodies in rock history. The quality is further magnified by the way they make you wait for it, and allow the melody to be a consonant release after walls of dissonance. Absolute masterwork.

    It’s so cool how DEP can make both crazy mathcore songs and then more accessible pop-metal like this. And all of it is good

  • @MetallicaRulez0
    @MetallicaRulez0 11 років тому +579

    The first time I ever heard any mention of these guys was in Guitar World when
    Ire Works was released. I managed to find a copy at BestBuy (of all places!)
    and... WOW! Admittedly, this type of music is not for your average metalhead
    but after repeated listenings I began to truly appreciate what it is that DEP does.
    Since then I have downloaded Calculating Infinity, Option Paralysis and One of
    Us is the Killer and I am convinced that this band is in a class all by itself. Sure,
    they combine more "listener-friendly" elements into their "mathcore" style but
    isn't that what makes it even more of a mind-f--k to listen to? Check out the
    background horn section on this song... it turns this track into a New Millenial
    version of the "Peter Gunn" theme. Well done gentlemen!
