    I love these , you come up with fabulous ideas, I so look forward to Sunday morning to watch, I’m sitting in the garden today,, yesterday morning just befor I woke I had a horrible dream , about spiders which I hate , thank goodness it was a dream ,,, then I came down and picked up my iPad to watch your video and of course I just couldn’t find it ,,, I was thinking yesterday was Sunday, took a while for me to realise what the day was ,,, lol 😂🎨🌈👏😊💕

      Thanks so much Annie. I did chuckle at you getting the days muddled up. I had exactly the same conversation with Steve’s mums a couple of days ago as last Sunday she convinced herself it was Monday and could ‘t understand why all her favourite TV programmes weren’t on. All the days seem to blend into one at the moment don’t they. Will we ever return to normal 😂💕❤️😘

    I am so excited to try this technique, I don't know if you have seen any video s by Junk Journal Joy but she makes velum paper, makes a collage then clues it on a playing card and on the back so glues on paper to make a journaling card, then sews it up. Such a cool idea, so much you can do with it.

      Thanks Lorraine, I must experiment more with my printer. Its a new HP professional laster jet which I’m really impressed with. It was nearly out of yellow ink which I’ve now replaced, so it will be interesting to see if that makes a difference. I did try scanning on the printer as well as in natural daylight, and photocopying, but couldn’t get a true colour. Thinking it might be my settings. 🤞💕

    These are breathtaking. I love your work. Thank you so very much for shsring your talents. I had a ball last week making a tea bag book like Kylie's and stsmping and coloring with Primsa color pencils. I made a stamp positioner to help with the stamping and it is fabulous. I know who will be trying was this week😜. My craft iron has holes in it, would that be a problem? I have a glue meltibg pot. Maybe I could melt what is in it and pour it out and use it the way you used your chocolate pot. God bless.

    • @NinaRibenaMixedMedia
      @NinaRibenaMixedMedia  4 роки тому

      Hello Lovey Evelyn. If you are not precious about your iron, I would try that. The wax simply slides off once its heated, but you might get some accumulating around the holes. Not tried it, so don’t hold me to that! Your glue melting pot should also work. You get a very different look applying melted wax with a brush, and its lovely. The iron method is easier though I have to admit. Experiment, and see what happens. Enjoy and Happy Creating 💕🥰

      Beautiful! I just love your masterboard too Nina. Talented lady you are💕. I just find it so difficult to source old papers etc for using to make collages/masterboards etc. When narrowing it down I get so confused with the whole copyright question that I end up too nervous to use little bits n pieces that I may have bought for purposes of making say a journal that I would want to sell... Any advice on the topic would be most welcome. 👍 I seemed to go round and round the same question a ND find it hampers my progress somehow. Sorry I hope I have not gone off topic here. @NinaRibenaMixedMedia  4 роки тому

      Thanks Charmaine, Kylie and I did a lot of research earlier on in the year regarding copyright and angel policies and this is the message I pinned in the previous collage masterboard video.
      Angel Policies & Copyright which you might find helpful.
      There seems to be a lot of confusion following our recent Masterboard Prompt, especially regarding the use of stamped images and whether it is legal to use them in our Masterboards and then copy them for our own personal use.
      Kylie and I have carried out an extensive amount of research regarding this, and it is our conclusion that if you scan or photocopy your Masterboard for your own PERSONAL use, even if you have stamped an image on it, you are NOT IN BREACH OF COPYRIGHT.
      There are no terms of use on stamp packaging because the term ANGEL POLICY is not a legally recognised one. You as the buyer would have to agree to the terms and conditions PRIOR to the purchase of the stamp. No contract has been established between the copyright holder and the buyer and the Angel Policy is therefore NOT legally enforceable.
      Many of the common stamps we all use have been created from images in the public domain, and these are not copyrightable and you are free to use them as you wish. A stamp can be copyrighted, however for the copyright to be granted, the image would have to be be changed so significantly from one in the public domain (for example a butterfly or a flower) that it was not recognisable from the original image.
      Please be clear that we would not condone copyright infringement and we ourselves would never knowingly do so. We are referring here to a very specific use and would always suggest that if anyone is unsure about their use then they look at Copyright Law.
      If anyone requires any further clarification, there is a great site which contains a wealth of valuable Angel Policy and Copyright information if you are interested.

      @@NinaRibenaMixedMedia thank you so much for taking the time to explain the copyright findings. Yes I looked at the Angel Policy but it left me with lots of unanswered questions. I think one can only do one's best to be aware and respectful in this regard as far as possible, agreed. I will look through the the site you have suggested. Much appreciated and thank again. ❤️

    I love the wax technique, what kind of wax did you use and do you know where I might find it?

      Hi Sandra. I used R & F Encaustic Medium which you can purchase from Amazon. You can also use beeswax or even a regular white candle. Happy Creating 💕

    Looooove the Masterboard , it’s awesome. Hope you don’t mind me saying but I thought the ATC’s are a little too dark .just my opinion x. But I love the images. Tfs :) xx

      Thanks Marina, they do come out darker, and especially with the text papers I used. I love that grungy look, but I can see how it wouldn’t appeal to everyone 💕 xxx

    Oh Nina I have been so strong in resisting purchasing encaustic supplies but I can feel my resolve slipping 😂 I have neither a melting pot or flat based iron, would you recommend one over the other? Thank you Nina. 💕💫

    • @NinaRibenaMixedMedia
      @NinaRibenaMixedMedia  4 роки тому +1

      I resisted for a long time too, and it took as long for me to pluck up the courage to try it too 😂. Don’t know what was holding me back as an love it! The iron is definitely quicker and easier and is great for flatter projects that you want to pop in a journal and of course great for making vellum paper too. But I do love the building up the melted wax with a brush too and it gives a completely different effect. Its more time consuming and takes a bit of getting used to to achieve an even finish. Several people have suggested using one of those cheap mug warmers to melt the wax in. I think you can pick them up for around a fiver. You could then melt the wax in a small foil tray. You need something that will keep the wax at an even temperature that is not too hot. I picked my chocolate warmer up for around £5 or £6 from eBay and it works a treat. Hope that helps 💕

      Nina Ribena thank you so much for letting me know the printer details. I need a new one so I check it out. Look all your videos so much inspiration. I have what seems like a mountain of white paper strips 120gms 2.5inches wide and I’m at a loss what to do with them. Any ideas as I don’t want to throw them away.

    Love to try this, is there a final sealing step? I send ATCs all over & a lil concerned about remelting in 115° desert heat or transatlantic trip from USA to Europe. Never tried this technique before but excited to try now! Final question, did you say it was beeswax you were using with the iron?

    • @NinaRibenaMixedMedia
      @NinaRibenaMixedMedia  4 роки тому

      I used R & F encaustic was which has resin in it, although you can use bee wax or even candle wax. If you place a piece of copier paper over your finished piece iron over it, it should remove any excess wax. I have not sealed mine as the wax should do that for you. But do experiment in the heat first. Happy Creating 💕

      Thanks for this tip Sarah. I’m a newbie to encaustic and just at the experimenting stage. I did think about buffing the one I applied with the brush, but it never occurred to me to buff the others. Thanks so much for your suggestion 💕 x

      Nina Ribena i love it i will have to dig out my encaustic iron and waxes and play its been along time lol. I love your idea on Porous paper to make it translucent such a great idea. The buffing works best on non porous but worth a go xx

    Ok 2 questions...Do you sell your backgrounds, maybe as a DL or on Etsy? Also does the wax ever crack or get scraped off? Wax is new to me..I was so surprised when it made the other layers transluescent...I dont get it..LOL Ill watch your other wax video now

      Hi PattyAnn, I don’t sell my backgrounds no, although you might want to watch tonight’s video!!! I have never had any issue with the wax cracking or scratching because I am using such a thin layer 💕

    Does the wax compromise the adjacent pages if you use it in a journal?

    • @NinaRibenaMixedMedia
      @NinaRibenaMixedMedia  4 роки тому +2

      No it doesn’t. I’ve tried making vellum with baby oil, and that leaves a horrible oily residue, but wax is great 💕

    I know this is probably a strange question but what are cigarette cards? I’ve never heard of anything like that.

    • @NinaRibenaMixedMedia
      @NinaRibenaMixedMedia  4 роки тому +1

      Not at all. They are very similar to tea cards. Back in the late 1800’s and early to mid 1900’s, many of the cigarette brands added these to stiffen their packets and advertise their brand. Of course it encouraged collectors too 💕

      Hi Kim, ATC's are 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches or 65mm by 90mm.
      Have fun, they can become very addictive to make, a lot of mine are the result of trying out a new technique on a small piece of art work. Jackie
