If you use your cantilever for a piping systeme support , how do you calculate the dynamic charge of the fluid and then add the dynamic weight to the centalever calculation ?
If the mass of the beam is taken into account, would you treat it as a central point load (as in total mass of beam*g, acting through the centre) or UDL?
If you just want the reaction force and reaction moment, you can concentrate the weight of the beam at the centroid (as you said). If you want the stress along the beam, you'll need to account for weight along the beam. You'll probably need to draw a load-shear-moment diagram for that.
