- It is common in statics problems to assume that the weight of the structure is small compared to the load. However, this is not always true. Here's an example of how to account for the weight of a cantilever beam when finding the reaction force and reaction moment.
Great vid!. So important to get this step right, especially if you want to solve for deflections & stresses (shear distribution and bending).
