So the joke is actually that Channel 6 News has extremely flawed methodology if they’re producing a 0.01 margin of error when none exists in what was undoubtedly a census of all the votes in the election
What makes Bob a good character is that in the end he isn’t entirely wrong about the way he feels about people. Bob is a psychopath and he knows it, yet people still voted for him. When he tried to destroy all of tv, he very nearly succeeded, but Krusty put on a zero budget show and people tuned in. While yeah Bobs methods are awful, and without barts interference then most definitely Bob would’ve succeeded in possibly changing their world. However you can’t deny he has some valid points on how people live in a cycle and it’s eating our people alive.
Bob is high culture looking down. That is why he is a joke. Krusty is a buffoon clown who stoop to everything regardless of quality. That is why he is successful. The Simpsons is a satire that is very anti-authority. The successful celebrities did not have an authority of intelligence. Bob is an intellectual who could not break into entertainment, ended up with a job he hate, resort to crime and framing a fool, and failed to killed a 10-year old boy due to his ego. It condemned people liked Bob while not praising or even respect the people he despised.
I love the way Homer says Sideshow Bob’s last; it’s supposed to be “Terwilliger”, but Homer says: “I know what you’re up to, Mayor Terwiggidger!” Obviously that’s me guessing at how you’d actually spell it the way Homer said it haha. There’s just something about the way he says it, that always makes me laugh; I often find myself wandering around the house, saying “I know what you’re up to, Mayor Terwiggidger”...because I’m obviously nuts haha. But quoting classic lines from ‘The Simpsons’, is something I can’t stop doing; it’s like a sickness haha. Even if later seasons weren’t as funny as the older ones; ‘The Simpsons’ is still one of the greatest shows of all time- if not THE greatest. You can take the best episodes from any show in the history of TV, and put them up against the greatest ones from ‘The Simpsons’, and Homer and Co would easily hold their own. Speaking of Homer; he is, without a doubt, one of the greatest characters in fiction- and I mean ALL of fiction: TV, film, theatre, literature, etc... ...and yes; as anyone who sees this post can probably tell, I’m something of a “Simpsonsaholic” haha.
