@cowartm not exactly right :> they were called thousand sons even before the flesh change (as stated in 'a thousand sons')

@huntercd Read Thousand Sons under the Horus Heresy series. Basically they are called Thousand Sons because they suffer genetic mutation.

@HRFool13 More specifically, by the time Magnus was reunited with his legion, there were roughly 1,000 Thousand Sons marines left as a result of the fleshchange they suffered. Magnus then named then the Thousand Sons because only 1K survived.
