To stop is spilling anything when you remove it, just squeeze and hold the top hose before you put the plug in the funnel. As you disconnect the funnel the hose will expand and allow space for the small amount of fluid trapped between the bottom of the funnel and the adaptor cap to be sucked into the rad. You may then have to just top up the rad a very small up to the neck before putting the cap on. A vacuum filler is still a far quicker and much more thorough method to fill a cooling system rather than gravity filling with one of these funnels, plus you have the added bonus of being able to vacuum leak test the system prior to filling.👍
