Not saying they belong on the list, but lowkey speakers I adore that no one talks about too much is The New Day. They feel natural, campy, and like you really are just talking with the boys. Kinda underrated!
It never gets the love it deserves but go back and find The Rock's promo from Wrestlemania 18. Arguably his greatest ever promo, walking the line between entertainment and sheer intensity like the master he is.
9:36 I can't get over how amazing this description of Ric Flair's promo style is. "Like a man with sunstroke chasing kids off his lawn" and "he's just so _there_ so _right there_ " is just the perfect way to describe how he talks.
Honorable mention for me: Jimmy Jacobs in ROH after turning heel during the Jimmy loves Lacey saga. Jimmy, despite developing into a total psycho heel over the years, was able to convince you that HE was the victim in all of this and the hero who has to win at the end, because HE himself was convinced he was.
Eddie Kingston made his career with THAT promo on Cody. I'm so glad to see him finally getting the recognition he deserves. His back and forth with Steen back in the Chikara vs ROH feud was amazing.
The pipebomb was certainly one that people remember the most, but nearly every promo Punk ever cut was great. "Your arms are too short to box with God", "I'm swimming with sharks while you're dancing with stars", "Be a man or sit down and be a bitch", His promos DURING the Royal Rumble in 2010, his promos against Hardy (eye drops, dressing as Jeff Hardy), when he insulted the Juggalos in IWA, his Raven promos in ROH, his snake promo against Austin Aries in ROH, everything he did with the Straight Edge Society. I don't remember a Promo from Punk that wasn't good.
You should watch his promos agaisnt Triple H. Goddamn it was intense. I'd to think that those promos brought some sense to Hunter and helped make NXT what it is today.
The pipe bomb is probably top 5 promos all time, possibly number 1, but Punk had plenty of other amazing promos, and discounting that does him a disservice
The Pipebomb is just the one everyone always highlights (even WWE)...but the man oozed promo perfection EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. he was on the mic. His time with Heyman and his 434 day reign as WWE Champion was some of the best mic work from anyone, that I've ever heard.
So glad Kingston got some love, his promo work is a constant Gem on aew. Even before her reunited with Mox and became the best banter duo. He has that Realness to him that you just feel. If anyone else had been caught up in that faulty pyro at revolution they would not have been able to talk their way out of it. But Eddie smoothed it over and allowed the story to flow onward.
I'd say Raven deserves at least an honorable mention. All 20 of the ones who did make the list are legit top talkers though, so I can see how some great talkers would not be on that list, you've got probably 100 who could be on that list and only 20 who can.
Seeing this for the first time, it's a super solid list. If I were to grumble about anyone being missing, it would be imho one of the most underrated managers of all time, Father James Mitchell. 😈🤘
My favorite will always be Mick Foley. His range from dramatic, emotional, psychotic, scary, and hilarious makes him the most well-rounded promo artist in wrestling history.
@@willmk4042 Cena had a terrible character for most of his run , so he didn't get the opportunity to really shine . Goodness, there are so many phenomenal mic workers. I can't begin to imagine how I would rank them. The Rock, John Cena, CM Punk, The Miz, Steve Austin, Prime Ric Flair, Paul Bearer, Paul Heyman. I'd probably make a top 50 and start with "In no specific order" lmao.
Can't forget Triple H, especially in NXT with him either backstage for a shooting star wish, or even hyping up a Takeover, and especially when NXT invaded Smackdown and cut the best promo to close a perfect smackdown show.
I think that the exclusion of The Miz and MJF are major injustices. Did we all just forget that amazing promo he cut on Bryan during Talking Smack? And how he has gotten some of the biggest reactions of the last decade when he has the right material? The Miz sells promos better than anyone on the current main roster, bar none.
The Miz has been so hot and cold throughout his career that his inconsistencies would leave him off the list for me. When he's hot though, he certainly comes close. MJF doesn't have the longevity of the majority that are on this list, but give him a few years and he's an absolute SHOE-IN for such a list like this. Daniel Bryan definitely got snubbed.
Agreed, after Mania 13 when he destroyed Bret on the mic...Shawn has actually been very consistent. Commissioner, DX, returning against HHH. Even if the DX revival was not that great, when they got serious ie: RatedRKO, Shawn's promos stayed at that level.
To be fair, HBK is so good at everything to do w/ wrestling in the ring that ppl forget the mic skills were also elite. As a young heel or old face in particular.
This. That Montreal heel promo is still one of the best heel promo of all time, and in many other occasion he showed that he was one of the best also with the mic
By the time Eddie Kingston fully retires, I have no doubt that he will be in the top 5 greatest mic workers of all time. He is one of my favorites just because of how absolutely real he is.
I think Edge deserves an honorable mention. The raw intensity present in his promos, the look in his eyes, the way he tells the story makes you feel like you are a part of it. Look to his promos leading to Wrestlemania this year and you’ll see what I mean
His promo on Cena about I hate you, God I thought to kill that guy when that happened but now when I look back he just spitted fire on mic against Cena even against Taker too.
Not to mention he’s also insanely funny and naturally charismatic. He just knows how to draw people in. Someone who can do intense, funny, reality blurring promos really does deserve a shoutout. Edge makes you feel like wrestling is real and with the heavily scripted bs we get from WWE, that is an accomplishment.
during his retirement edge came back and told john cena to wake up and beat the crap out of brock lesner. edge turned the entire crowd from hating cena to demanding he destroy lesner. that was A+ level mic work
The only thing that prevents him from being on this list is that all of the other people that are on it I’ve had more time than he has. If you update the list in 10 years, I guarantee he’ll be on there.
This is a very good list. Thousands of performers throughout the decades have gotten their hands on a mic and said what they were gonna say, but very few ever made meaningful and lasting impressions. My only additions to this list would be Jim Cornette, HHH, and MJF.
I'm not going to deny that I'm a Cena so I'm probably biased but despite the crowds hating him he still brought it to The Rock during their 'Once in a lifetime ' build. He deserves to be in the top 5.
Personal favourite talkers in wrestling (that aren't on this list) include: Cameron Grimes, The Miz, Triple H, heel Roman Reigns, Jon Moxley and MJF. Kenny Omega gets an honourable mention as well, there's something about his goofyness that I like
I think when it’s all said and done, this list will be updated to include MJF, Jon Moxley, The Miz, Nick Aldis, Kenny Omega, Scorpio Sky and Adam Cole. Also surprised Steve Corino isn’t on this list.
Randy savage was so good I still remember ever line from his Cameo in Spider-Man including my favourite line “You’re going nowhere, I got you for 3 minutes, 3 minutes of playtime”

@@treycumberbatch5257 or you can give him a bunch of nicknames like he gave to the undertaker lol
@@Zigzagalltheway Professor Heebie Von Jeebies is still one of my favourites 😂
Not saying they belong on the list, but lowkey speakers I adore that no one talks about too much is The New Day. They feel natural, campy, and like you really are just talking with the boys. Kinda underrated!
My personal additions: New Jack, Triple H, Raven, and Latino heat,
Yes Raven
Definitely Eddie
Take your personal additions and shove it up your perfectly-shaped ass.
Triple H is rambles way too much to be considering among the the best promos. His stuff from 2002-2004 was unbareable to listen to.
@@anoopsingh4825 so basically his half hour Reign of terror promos that ALL SOUND THE SAME
It never gets the love it deserves but go back and find The Rock's promo from Wrestlemania 18. Arguably his greatest ever promo, walking the line between entertainment and sheer intensity like the master he is.
American Badass Undertaker was great on mic 😎. I watched soo many clips of him dominating the promos.
Gonna make you famous.
"I tell ya' what, why don't you say WHAT if you like to sleep with your own sister!"
@@ThunderTHR that is still best reply to WHAT chant and savage ness of Badass taker character got enhanced by that line.
9:36 I can't get over how amazing this description of Ric Flair's promo style is. "Like a man with sunstroke chasing kids off his lawn" and "he's just so _there_ so _right there_ " is just the perfect way to describe how he talks.
Honorable mention for me: Jimmy Jacobs in ROH after turning heel
during the Jimmy loves Lacey saga. Jimmy, despite developing into a
total psycho heel over the years, was able to convince you that HE was
the victim in all of this and the hero who has to win at the end,
because HE himself was convinced he was.
The MIZ. Any guy who take backstage heat and spin it into a long heel career.
Eddie Kingston made his career with THAT promo on Cody. I'm so glad to see him finally getting the recognition he deserves. His back and forth with Steen back in the Chikara vs ROH feud was amazing.
CM Punk is proof that quality trumps quantity. He didn't need a long list of great promos, just one Pipe Bomb.
@@kev_whatev indeed. hes got so many good ones. he made me really like wrestling.
Edge on the mic as a heel is incredibly underrated
So glad Kingston got some love, his promo work is a constant Gem on aew. Even before her reunited with Mox and became the best banter duo. He has that Realness to him that you just feel. If anyone else had been caught up in that faulty pyro at revolution they would not have been able to talk their way out of it. But Eddie smoothed it over and allowed the story to flow onward.
Screw Kingston and his gay nightclub owner gimmick.
Best part about Eddie his his promos they are so fkn good! He just has natural sounding ability and talent for the mic, comes across authentic
Hard to disagree with this list - its on point. Thanks Adam!
Great list but HOW can you Not include Raven on this list??? He was a gem on the Mic
Yeah I was wondering that myself? That guy was a wrestling poet.
@@akwilson1676 what about raven
@@josiahboatengmyrie Beat me to it by 44 seconds lol
How mad is Luke right now?
I'd say Raven deserves at least an honorable mention. All 20 of the ones who did make the list are legit top talkers though, so I can see how some great talkers would not be on that list, you've got probably 100 who could be on that list and only 20 who can.
Seeing this for the first time, it's a super solid list. If I were to grumble about anyone being missing, it would be imho one of the most underrated managers of all time, Father James Mitchell. 😈🤘
Could have doubled that list easily. Great list as always.
That Jake Roberts line lives rent free in my head now. It's just so perfect.
My favorite will always be Mick Foley. His range from dramatic, emotional, psychotic, scary, and hilarious makes him the most well-rounded promo artist in wrestling history.
Randy Orton when he’s into it, is one of the best there is
The top 5 imo
1. Cm punk
2. Stone cold Steve Austin
3. Paul Heyman
4. John cena
5. The rock
Yeah tbh John Cena being at num 17 was criminal
@@willmk4042 Cena had a terrible character for most of his run , so he didn't get the opportunity to really shine . He was booked so badly , even with his amazing skills he couldn't get over with the hardcore fans to save his life . Cena could save the world from an alien invasion and he'd still get booed by everyone over the age of 12
Also triple h is pretty underrated as a talker especially his promos on Batista
Honerable mentions: Kurt Angle, Edge, MJF (not making the list is shocking to me), The Miz, Shawn Michaels and Jon Moxley.
Can we get WCPW manager PLUMPY on this list? His promos with Eric Bishoff(his dad), Big Damo and others were brilliant.
I'm still not used to the fact that Kevin Owen's first langage is Bhojpuri.
Goodness, there are so many phenomenal mic workers. I can't begin to imagine how I would rank them. The Rock, John Cena, CM Punk, The Miz, Steve Austin, Prime Ric Flair, Paul Bearer, Paul Heyman. I'd probably make a top 50 and start with "In no specific order" lmao.
paul bearer was good but he wasnt the greatest imo his voice was very weird
Cm Punk being in AEW means he’s got a lot of promo battles he can have
Triple H & JBL are HUGE honorable mentions
JBL is a wrestling.....gaaaaawd.....
Two guys who went on 20 minute monologues far too often at the height of their careers to make this list.
@@Cableguy15 not so much jbl, but the talent was still there. No way Jake & Becky Lynch were better than those 2
Why would anyone watch one of these videos and then not subscribe? They’re fantastic. They deserve all the subscriptions
Incredible list.
Honorable mention: HBK.
Can't forget Triple H, especially in NXT with him either backstage for a shooting star wish, or even hyping up a Takeover, and especially when NXT invaded Smackdown and cut the best promo to close a perfect smackdown show.
The famous heel HBK promo in Montreal is the greatest heel promo I have ever seen.
Yeah I don't know how Becky and Owens get in ahead of him.
“WHO’S YOUR DADDY MONTREAL?” just amazing
@@edalder2000 Not even close, that promo is only memorable because of that Canadian crowd and how much they hated HBK for the Bret situation
Nothing like a good ol' Top 20 from Adam to make my weekend better.
Honorable mentions: Edge, MJF, The Miz, Jay White, and Daniel Bryan
Also Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn
I can't believe *BLANK* didn't make the list
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THEY DIDN'T MAKE THE LIST
I think that the exclusion of The Miz and MJF are major injustices. Did we all just forget that amazing promo he cut on Bryan during Talking Smack? And how he has gotten some of the biggest reactions of the last decade when he has the right material? The Miz sells promos better than anyone on the current main roster, bar none.
Big facts
The Miz has been so hot and cold throughout his career that his inconsistencies would leave him off the list for me. When he's hot though, he certainly comes close.
MJF doesn't have the longevity of the majority that are on this list, but give him a few years and he's an absolute SHOE-IN for such a list like this.
Daniel Bryan definitely got snubbed.
@@ThunderTHR Even Cornette, Angle and Michaels arent on and most people easily consider Cornette top 5.
"You will be a victim of your own greed, wallowing in the muck of avarice."
Damn, that's straight outta a Tarantino film, I swear.
think mjf and sami zayn should also be on the list
Chris Jherico is a yakuza character that escaped the game
shawn is criminally underrated
Man that Arm Anderson promo reintroducing Ric Flair is goosebump-inducing.
i'd personallly give an honorable mention to ec3, easily one of the best talkers of the modern era
Perfect list, no notes
Honorable Mention: Jim Cornette. Love him or hate him he was a damn good promo.
during his retirement edge came back and told john cena to wake up and beat the crap out of brock lesner. edge turned the entire crowd from hating cena to demanding he destroy lesner. that was A+ level mic work
I know he is still new but I would've atleast given an honorable mention if not a list spot to MJF.... The dude is so great
Agree. MJF is pretty much the only reason anyone should watch any wrestling currently.
The only thing that prevents him from being on this list is that all of the other people that are on it I’ve had more time than he has. If you update the list in 10 years, I guarantee he’ll be on there.
@@goofius121 hence why I mentioned possibly having him as like an honorable mention
This is a very good list. Thousands of performers throughout the decades have gotten their hands on a mic and said what they were gonna say, but very few ever made meaningful and lasting impressions. My only additions to this list would be Jim Cornette, HHH, and MJF.
Paul Heymans promo about Vince in 2001 is still one of the best I’ve ever seen
I'm not going to deny that I'm a Cena so I'm probably biased but despite the crowds hating him he still brought it to The Rock during their 'Once in a lifetime ' build. He deserves to be in the top 5.
Feel like The Miz should have been somewhere on this list. Say what you will about his wrestling style but he’s always been money on the mic.
I just want you to know that I'm already subscribed to your channel because I love your dry humor Adam. Cheers mate 👍😎
Personal favourite talkers in wrestling (that aren't on this list) include: Cameron Grimes, The Miz, Triple H, heel Roman Reigns, Jon Moxley and MJF. Kenny Omega gets an honourable mention as well, there's something about his goofyness that I like
The way adam eloquently describes every entry is just class
I think when it’s all said and done, this list will be updated to include MJF, Jon Moxley, The Miz, Nick Aldis, Kenny Omega, Scorpio Sky and Adam Cole.
Also surprised Steve Corino isn’t on this list.
Randy savage was so good I still remember ever line from his Cameo in Spider-Man including my favourite line “You’re going nowhere, I got you for 3 minutes, 3 minutes of playtime”
This is one of the better lists I've seen anywhere in a while. The only amendment would to have unnecessarily made this a list of 21 because Samoa Joe needs to be here
Hard to disagree with this. Well done!
