My uncle just gave me a 2013 Nissan Sentra sv with brand new transmission. After having the transmission changed it started to shudder on taking off so he gave up and gave me the vehicle. I changed all coils and spark plugs after pulling the code p0304 or whatever I cant remember but once I changed out coils and spark plugs it purred like a kitten. 👍🏾😎
This video is so helpful and encouraging to all of us up and coming mechanics. Thank you G. Keep up the work, cuz I'm going to start following/ supporting your videos.
Good explanation. I have a misfire on 2016 Chevy Traverse, but it just gives me P300 (random misfire) I wish it would give me a specific cylinder code... Vehicle only hesitates/rough idle when it gets to operating temperature. When its cold in the morning, it runs fine for the first little bit of driving.
Can plugs or coils go intermittently bad at the end of their lifespan? Scanned my car and it gave me a “pending” code p0303 for cylinder 3 misfire. Now I turned it on again and the engine light is no longer flashing. It drives fine. Weird. Anyhow, I’m not sure if the Spark plugs or coils are bad, but maybe the mechanic can tell me and I could save money and not need to replace both plugs and coils. Good video 👍🏽
Good point. Coils do not all fail the same all the time. The coil on plug 'pencil' types are subject to much more heat than older designs and will often only misfire when warmed up.
Will you get a check engine light if the coil became weak but still works? My car has a slight misfire and when i go full throttle power is sometimes little hesitant. And how do you check if the coil is weak and not just dead?
Enjin light does not always turn on. And mine only did it at higher speed.....not low speed. There is much more symptoms. When my coil pack heated up,like on a highway trip, it started with problems.
& you given me a response back for likeing you materials, so now I'm subscribed, my sis will be & a few friends, so I say again Sir.. 'Thank you' you are great
I was working on my 07 Toyota Avalon. With over 190k (I have 237k now)at the time back in 2021, I replaced all spark plugs , replaced coils but I only left the front three ones. The back of the v6 is harder to get to so I replaced all coils so I didn’t have to. Transmission was also serviced and fluid is bright colored. But I’ve been experiencing shuddering and lack of performance when accelerating from dead stop and vibrating at a stoplight in drive. Do you think it’s because of not replacing the front three coils?
Who ever reads this and having trouble telling if your car going out or about to turn off /1.make sure you have a new battery or alternator that can cause your car to turn off with no response just noise 2. Make sure you replace your head gasket and starter. head gasket will cause your car to turn off randomly at any given moment and you might panic thinking it won’t start but let it cool down then start it. bad starter going to be rough every time you start your car might be quick or the sound of your starter starting the car will definitely make your face expression change but if it’s to late for that warning then your car will turn off but you be Able to turn the power on but not the car itself unless you knock it with a hard item 3. Bad transmission or coils pack now this a tuff one because both problems have the same symptoms when you accelerate on the gas you will lose power in your rpm but I’m sure if you having a bad coil problem your signs in misfiring or slip in your rpm your acceleration will make you go slow then randomly speeds up bad transmission when your accelerating you down on power meaning if your driving 40 or 50 your car rpm will start to jump or start going down while your foot is on the gas paddle
Id just tear the motor down take head gasket out so it breaths well when put back together... Oh and file the rings down smooth before putting head back on
You’ve helped me fix my vehicle and families vehicles by watching some of your videos. I’ve had my vehicle parked for three weeks now and I wanted to ask if you can help me out. Long story short I replaced the spark plugs and it was still doing the same thing really upsetting! I looked up your video and did your test by pulling coil up a bit to see a change in rpm’s and yup sure enough 1 was weak did not spark like others or have that blue color. Only problem now is I can’t test the back ones there under the manifold
Wow great advice and video, i have a check engin light on, it's steady, no flashing. My code is reading p302 its a 2017 jeep wrangler unlimited. Its involved just to get to coil and spark plug on the drivers side of the engine. Is there anything else i should be looking for before i start tearing this apart. It seem like it running fine, low speed, at idle, at high speed. If the check engine light wasn't on, i wouldn't of noticed an issue with it. That's how good it seems to be running. Just scratching my head iver here. Any of your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you
I have a 2014 town and country van, when I step on the gas I get a shale from the engine or trans. Not sure what it could be. Might be the coil, or the cadlic converter. What do you think?
How would you diagnose a coil that's misfiring sometimes but not all the time? I recently bought a 2002 Lexus LS 430 with the 4.3 liter V-8 engine and it misfires part of the time but not constant and there's no check engine light on.

hey man just replace my clutch on my 9th gen civic si, with stage 2 kit with oe hd flywheel and it’s a 15lbs weight and no tuning/req as there website stated and people never had any issues. some how when i break in my car im in 200 miles break in with the clutch, car went to limp mode and 2/3 cylinder misfire. never had issue with the car only after clutch replacement. reset code and now it’s 4 cylinder misfire. hopefully it’s the coil pack which i will do it when i get the parts. it’s so odd that i get misfire when everything i replace is oem specs. i will do my spark and coil and go from there. hopefully 🤞
My Denali XL ('15 Model) with 150K miles is starting to chug briefly upon starting about every 5th or so time starting. I'm wondering if this could be from bad coil pack or plugs? It runs pretty well once it gets through the initial start, but I know coil packs take a while to go bad so maybe this is just the start.
I have 4 black spark plugs of a Golf 4 (2001) 1.4 16V . Is it possible, that the ignition coil is weak? Engine is starting without problems, no idle problems. Oxygen sensor is already changed, but oygen sensor code is still coming. Emission test was a desaster. 10% CO.

After I replaced it the problem was solved. Not big deal, but I'm surprised why the fusible link between the Starter and Alternator survived, but the alternator was burned? Can someone tell for how many Amps you use a fusible link for the alternator on 90 Amps. I've read that usually you go with 20% higher Amps, so for 90 Amps alternator it should be 118 Amps.
