    Great idea!! If you have a dry section around those rocks stick a tillandsia (air plant) or two :-)

      Sounds like a great idea! I've never tried growing them but they would definitely add a unique effect.

    Where do you buy pumice rocks from and where can you get live sphagnum moss?

    • @succulentflytraps
      @succulentflytraps  Рік тому

      Hi there .....I buy my pumice rock from China. Since I only purchase samples (say 10 at a time) they are very expensive. I got my spagnum moss from an online supplier.

    doeasn't that jsut make a realy expensive container? Is it possible to grow moss on the rock or a way to take advantage of the porous pumice?

    • @succulentflytraps
      @succulentflytraps  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi there ......what I really love about pumice rock is that its porous and pretty much anything grows on it. I still have this planter and apart from the VFT going strong there's moss which has established itself nicely on the pumice planter. I also normally add sections of moss around the base of the freshly potted plant (in this case a Venus Flytrap). This helps keep the peat moss within the planter and prevents erosion from rain exposure. At the same time the section of moss which I add spread moss spores to other sections of the pumice planter. Over time moss and seedlings just manage to grow nicely on the pumice.

      @@succulentflytraps my curiosity is getting the best of me. I have to try this with some moss :-)

    Would this work for a nepenthes? I’m not sure how their roots are…

      Hi there .....I haven't grown Nepenthes before so I can't definitely say. However I can't see why it wouldn't work. I reckon some nice Nepenthes medium into a pumice rock planter would work well. It would be fun to experiment and find out.....let me know one day.....Happy Growing!

    Glad I found your channel. Yesterday at Lowe's I picked up a carnivorous plant terrarium that contained a single plastic pot (about 3 inches deep) with a dormant venus flytrap and a dormant pitcher plant. Would you recommend in plant both in the same pot as the instructions suggest, or should I put each one in its own pot? Also, since it is still fairly cold, should I wait a little while before I try to plant these plants?

      Hi there .... Sarracenia can outgrow the pot cramping other plants such as Venus Flytraps so I would place in separate pots. I actually prefer to pot the plants when they're dormant just before spring. They are resting at that time and so the reporting does minimal disturbance. Alternatively early spring is fine too when the plants are just waking up. Hope this helps ...

    Do you know where to source the pumice boulders? I can’t find them online in WA

    • @succulentflytraps
      @succulentflytraps  3 роки тому

      Larger rocks are quite difficult to find. I usually source mine from China. Also they usually want a minimum order quantity which is way too much for my needs. I was lucky to get some samples but even they were expensive because of the smaller quantity.
