visit www.thisoneisonus.org Trent reznor with the The Urge covering Billy idol's "eyes without a face". This is from the 80's when trent was with several small bands.
Dang, Trent. This cover is dead on and he even used the same drum machine and some very similar sounds. Shows how talented he was even then and how good his ear is.
I think the arpeggiated synth around the 4:10 part could have been expanded on a little bit to make it more unique, but they were really true to the original. even the guitar tone was spot on.
I used to go to a club called RJ's in Youngstown to hear Trent and Mike and can't remember the other guy's name... the Urge. They even played at our prom! I remember them doing Def Leppard Covers.. so funny!
I never knew this!!! I've lived in Youngstown my whole life, knew he was raised down the road in Mercer/New Castle. Do you remember the road that RJ's is on? Would love to know if they're still in business
Sure it's dated, but damn that sounds pretty great for being live. Trent is right in tune and it almost sounds to good to be live, but I've seen NIN live and still can't compare anything to it sounded so good. That's the louded clearest anything I've ever heard in my life. He must be a perfectionist which pays off for us 👍
You could tell right away that Trent Reznor had it in him. Big things would come to him, eventually. They would come to him on 10/20/89 when Nine Inch Nails released "Pretty Hate Machine".
I had no idea he created this version so happy Love this!!!! I am such a fan of NIN and Billy Idol this cover is a dream both sensual powerful artist!!!!!
awesome song. trent rules. and yes he sang happiness in slavery. Everyone is free to do and create as their will lets them and once done they move on only a fool would think they stood in the same river twice.
If youd have seen Trent live in a small venue here.... no one would have known this same guy would end up with goth make up, leather trousers, tripped fishnets making some of the most brutal electronic music of the 1990s.
Imagine during a NIN convert, he busts out this cover in this exact style
No he just comes out in the same clothing and plays it with the same band
He'd have to have a sense of humour to do that. In reality he would probably consider why he wants to do this and what are the pros and cons.
When was this ? Year?
The crowd would go nuts!
That would be friggin awesome
Awww. Who's my pretty little hate machine?
I predict a very bright future ahead for the lead singer. Mark my words!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀💀
Did this guy on the keyboard ever make it? He’s pretty good. 😜
yea, i hope he didnt get that much more stress in the 90s!!
@@bucketmouthinc82 didnt the guitarist or bass player form FILTER?...lol
Whoever the person is doing the background vocals are doing a hell of a job. Especially considering he's a man hitting notes like that. WOw.
Mike Baranski
The guy singing the Les yeux sans visage part has a hell of a voice.
Dang, Trent. This cover is dead on and he even used the same drum machine and some very similar sounds. Shows how talented he was even then and how good his ear is.
As a Billy Idol fan I can say this is a very decent cover!
Janko Takac very much so it matches well with billy
I think the arpeggiated synth around the 4:10 part could have been expanded on a little bit to make it more unique, but they were really true to the original. even the guitar tone was spot on.
These guys are tight. Solid cover. The talent is obvious.
Totally agree.
Yeah they’re good. Wonder if they ever amounted to anything.
@@justin410x I'm willing to bet the fella singing probably became pretty successful.
Hindsight.

honus64 Trent Reznor played your prom? Amazing
WOW, we had a high school student DJ at our prom
I never knew this!!! I've lived in Youngstown my whole life, knew he was raised down the road in Mercer/New Castle. Do you remember the road that RJ's is on? Would love to know if they're still in business
@failedfilmmaker I want to hate you out of jealousy but I just can't because that's too awesome!

Perfectly said.... and here I am 4 years later with it mixed in with my Reznor "Fashion" search

A very young little Trent Reznor.
I actually love this. So cute.
Never realized until now that Trent & Billy actually have fairly similar voices.
Awwwww, teenage Reznor. So fucking adorable. I wish he would do a cover of this now...
I could cry that i found this.
You could tell right away that Trent Reznor had it in him. Big things would come to him, eventually. They would come to him on 10/20/89 when Nine Inch Nails released "Pretty Hate Machine".
Trent Reznor playing a cover that would not be out of place on a wedding with a bunch of Polish dudes is something I did not expect to see in my life.
This was a band called "The Urge"
Mike Baranski on guitar, Steve Jaworski on Bass.
They were a great live band back in the 80's
Damn good for a teenager.
I LOVE THIS MAN:(
My new favorite thing
Holy shit. This is making me cry. Beautiful man!
after his dark night of the soul, trent's creative genius reached beyond human (while remaining human). amazing!
I had no idea he created this version so happy Love this!!!! I am such a fan of NIN and Billy Idol this cover is a dream both sensual powerful artist!!!!!

The bridge into the guitar and synths half way through and is one of the best EVER! Love Idol, Love Trent!

Vaya joyita.. No lo conocía.... Buen sonido 😊😊
it's a good song and trent is a cool dude but i couldn't help but to laugh throughout the video
It's all about the hair tug and the 'look' at the end of the song. What a ham! God I love this guy...
Nice to see Reznor doing different stuff time to time.
Omg my favorite Idol song by my favorite artist 🥰
Best cover ever

This is amazing
I wonder where the other members of the band ended up
working at guitar center
Salv lol sad fate but at least they have a cool story to tell
Hanging out with the Foo Fighters first drummer
The keyboard intro in the beginning is so badass, how it descends just like the original Billy Idol version.
beautiful…
What gorgeous music!
Sos increible Trent, nunca nos dejas de sorprender
Trent had that 80 s flick your hair out of your face thing going despite not having any hair in his face
Man !! How AWESOME is that ????
Might have been at this show. I did see this band in Youngstown in 1984 . Reznor was 17-18 years old
If youd have seen Trent live in a small venue here.... no one would have known this same guy would end up with goth make up, leather trousers, tripped fishnets making some of the most brutal electronic music of the 1990s.
Great find!
OH MY GOD!! Thank you for loading this!!
