The only advantage of having it as internal storage, from my knowledge is that you can install and run apps on the card. I don't understand why Android developers can't combine best of two options in one?

how do you revert the changes? i accidently turned my sd card into internal storage. i did not intend that to happen, now the internal storage and sd card seem to be merge and i cant find a way to format or separate it? this is such a STUPID FEATURE! please help!
@@almuntassermohammad6616 I am not a pro, sorry, but would recommend to just remove the card and reformat it on a laptop if you don't have anything useful on it.
@@tls_134 Depends on what kind of data and what you want to do with this card. If "basic data" is used for Android system or the Apps, it has to be internal storage. If it's not, or you want to read it on other devices it should not be internal, IMO.
If we set to portable can we move the photos from the device to the sd card ??

Does it effects the system speed like does it boost the phone speed or lessened? Cuz it always depends on how fast of a reader your sd card is compare to the actual system storage that can read faster than the sd card. Will that make some inBallance within the system or just neutral?
It will not boost the speed, so depends mostly on how fast your SD card is, however having a almost full storage makes it slow is it might feel like a boost, but the slowest cards will make it slow

I have moved all data in to sd card as a adaptable storage ..now it's not showing my data and asking for format card
I don't have an sd card in my old samsung Tab 4.
When I go to camera settings there is no storage option that says sd card.
It has 7.1. 1 update. If I put an sd card in , will I then get the sd card option for storage?
Also when I go to my files that is where I find storage internal and sd card.
I don't get that option in settings.
Maybe 7.1.1 is not updated enough to operate like in this video.

Maybe a solution to all of you who want to reformat your sd card to portable again:
1: pull out your sd card
2: do a factory reset
3:reinstall
4: insert your card and you can format it again

So use the sd as portable and set the settings of camera to save videos to sd card so that your videos will be saved to sd card and even if you remove it all data will be there and doesn't effect the functions of phone

Easiest to reformat via computer, got tutorials on how to format portable devices, you can basically just remove the entire partition using pc

Like many here, I am confused why the phone/tablet will use only the sd card when it is internal storage. I have a tablet with 128GB internal and I put in a 512GB. When you format it as internal storage my availabe storage then goes from 100GB free internally and 500GB free on SD card to only 500GB internal storage throwing away 100GB of free space storage.

I accidentally taped on use as internal memory and then my phone migrated the data from phone to sd card now i want to switch it back but there's no option to migrate my data back to phone or change the sd card from internal storage. And when im connecting my phone to pc its just not showing the internal storage there is just sd card option. Anyone please guide me how to do. TIA

@@Black_bull0604 buddy today i have done it on my own. I just took out all the data from sd card in usb, formatted the sd card took it out and then put it back. And transfer the data back but dont forget to select portable storage for sd card and u r done! 👍

I find the best way! Just borrow another phone, do the exact thing and do the portable format after the format.. get your SD card and put it on your phone and everything now is good.

When you remove it phone can't access the data stored on it, do dont delete the data on it.

What are the prons and cons of having the sd card as internal storage?
I wish the video was going to explain that more in deep, but no, just basic information (by talking about "if you want to remove it you can't").
I think that the only main CONs destroy all the numerous advantages by using the memory as internal storage; basically if the SD memory fails (die or get corrupted) you cannot recovery anything from that, like if you are using the memory as an external storage. The advantage are insane, like you can have a phone with 144GB of storage instead of 16GB (by using a 128GB microSD card) so you can install any app on the SD card (and not just the few app compatible with "move on external storage") with no limits, like if your phone came with all that storage by factory, BUT, as said, if that memory fail you basically lose everything due the fact that the memory became compatible only with that phone (I think it get encripted) so no recovery via PC.
This disadvantage is big enough to nullify the advantages.

There is nothing you can do that card is forever integrated into your phone that you format it to internal not even computer or any other devices because the card is encrypted only for you the one and only formated it, you can use it except your phone that formated it as a internal storage for me just buy a new sdcard so you can format it to external.
At first i chose option to use for extra portal storage .now it not give option to change
You gotta reformat it first, easily done from computer.

You can't remove it if you choose internal. Choose external and you can do that.

If you didn't use it yet and saved any files too lt you can remove it after making sure no data is on it, then one can wipe it from a pc or something and do this again
Bought an sd card more than a year ago. Just installed it. Formatted it as 'portable storage'. Took a minute for it to be formatted. Phone saide it was ready to use. Tapped on it and phone said the card was corrupted... Repeated the formatting process a few times with the same result. Wth ?
Tried it again, formatting as 'internal storage'. Phone has been "checking" the card for an hour. Removed card, restarted phone. Still checking... 🙄
Was it perhaps a very cheap card from wish.com or so? There are a lot of fake cards too, works fine in another device? Otherwise it probably is a bad card

I cleared it on a pc and formatted it, inserted it again and got the option, just make sure you didn't save anything important on there before you do it :)
