The Artist Formula, your last change to build a human brand before AI makes it impossible for us all: www.driesketel...
Join me as I explore how Hollywood and other big corporations capitalize on repackaging and reselling the same products in new formats, and what this means for creativity and consumer culture. In this video, I delve into the strategic maneuver by Hollywood, starting with an imaginative scenario where an intern named John proposes selling the same movies in HD. Despite initial dismissal, this idea leads to an industry-wide practice of repeatedly selling the same content in formats like Director's Cuts, Blu-ray, and even 4K resolutions, capturing immense profits.
But it's not just movies. This practice extends to tech giants like Apple, who rehash product designs with minimal changes, convincing consumers to repurchase what they essentially already own. Moreover, I discuss the ongoing shift in software sales, where companies like Adobe move to subscription models, costing users significantly over time without substantial improvements.
We also consider the implications of these strategies for creative individuals in an era where AI begins to dominate creative processes, threatening the diversity and authenticity of artistic expression. This video is a call to action for all creatives to recognize the pivotal moment we're in, as I outline the potential future where AI could further homogenize creativity, making it more challenging than ever to stand out.
How to fight back? Simple build your personal brand, your human brand. Here's a free PDF to help you with that. forms.gle/wW8f...
Remember: This discussion isn't just theoretical; it's about preparing for a future where creativity and individuality will be paramount. Whether you're an artist, a filmmaker, or just someone who cares about the integrity of creative professions, this video is for you. Join the conversation and let's navigate these tumultuous waters together.

AI images are beginning to self cannibalise because it doesn't have a reason to create art. The more AI art produced, the worse it is getting. And yeah, about movies - somewhere I think they forgot they're meant to tell a story and entertain. Without passion and reason, there is no art.

artists are poisoning AI with Glaze (Nightshade) that's also contributing to the crap being generated now. I feel that if AI is going to remain useable then devs are going to have to pay artists /writers for the use of their work for AI training. I don't know how they're going to survive otherwise.

@@driesketels The only thing they'll be able to do is to start again with a fresh set of non-stolen images. Currently, when anyone uses their own images to help generate AI work, it gets added. They have no control over the images added to the data. Glaze is also helping to create garbage.

I mean this is just loose collection of vaguely related conjecture : directors cuts have existed since the 70s, and rereleases started happening shortly after VHS got started, products have resold themselves with minor variations since time began from waffle makers to TVs to clothes. It's not a new thing, and its not all related to the movie market. Subscription models for many software is in part to keep earning money, but also to make it harder to pirate software. Much of the standardization of cars in the 60s has to do with conserving costs, but also standardizing safety features and gas milage, ect. We knew less about how to make a car that drives long without breaking down or killing someone in an accident. Now there are laws to ensure those standards. Which increases uniformity. If you're point is that companies will try to reskin products for increased profit, and to decrease development costs, then sure, yes, that's true. But you're acting like you discovered some connection between these things, rather then just stating a core model of business.

There are so many great old movies to watch that you don't ever have to watch the new nonsense. Just the 1950s alone produced so many amazing films. You don't have to watch movies at all though, but if you're going to at least go back and check out the great work from the past, it's so much different than what they make now. I feel so empty watching most TV series. It's sad how so many people are into vapid pop culture. Everyone is so excited over the new Deadpool movie and it just looks like something made for ten year old boys.

Hollywood isn't the only source of movies, which are a form of art. Saying you don't watch movies at all bc of Hollywood is very dismissive to all true artists out there making great movies. It's as if I said: I don't look at paintings anymore bc Instagram ruined it, all paintings are portraits of anime girls so I no longer look at them.

Totally agree with you. It's quite depressing. There's so little genuine intention of creating something good and unique, like you said with movies and cars, but I think even arquitecture. The last few years I stopped watching new movies in general, with a few exceptions. What I do is generally look for old classics, or work by certain directors that do things a bit differently: For example Hitchcock (Vertigo, North by Northwest), Studio Ghibli (Howl's moving castle, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service) and Tarantino (Hateful eight, Kill Bill, Django Unchained, etc.). Also love Chinatown, the Shining, the Talented Mr. Ripley, Interstellar, Us... They are something else, to me at least. I have many more, I just need to dig a lot to find the good stuff

Watch the classics. There is so much wonderful truth and beauty in them. Also.. there are usually a few incredible newly released films worth watching, but 99% of all recent Hollywood films are turds. It’s so sad, but it’s a heart issue because from the heart flows the beauty.

‘When the last sword is drawn’ won the Japanese academy award for best movie in 2002. It’s a story about the bakumatsu (the end of the shogunate),when the Samurai class was desperately clinging to relevance and survival, and about the stark differences between Japanese city culture and Japanese countryside culture and what happens when they clash. I highly recommend it.

Yeah I saw a video about this. They predict in the future that there won't be any more movies. There will be something like a subscription service where you just want to watch a movie and then you type in a brief synopsis and it will make whatever movie that you want. Just like putting in an art prompt with AI image software. They won't need actors either. You can just like tell the AI which actors you want it to star. And basically everybody will get their own movie and you can ask it to make sequels of the same prompt.
There might be websites where you can share your prompts on social media if they want to watch the same movie where you are. Because it will be utterly pointless to film a movie if it can be generated in 2 seconds by anybody.
