“When we were over in Iraq playing our USO tour in Iraq, I had one soldier come up to me, and he laid a burnt iPod down on the table. He didn't ask me to sign it. He wanted me to keep it. I looked at him a bit funny at first. He told me one of his closest friends went out on a mission and didn't make it back. Let's leave it at that. When they found him and his things, his iPod was stuck on "The Bleeding". The last thing he was listening to before he went was one of our songs. I literally teared up. I had no words at the time. It gives new life to your soul that you mean so much to another person. Growing up, music was all I had so it speaks volumes.” - Ivan Moody
    Thank you for your reaction.

This is my unit, it was shot during my second tour in Iraq. Those Strykers were ours, and the live shots were of a show they threw for us at the PX late at night. They also stopped by the motor pool and spent some time talking with us, very cool guys. I still have a bu ch of photos meeting them, and I actually gave Ivan my combat patch that night. Still wonder if he has it all these years later. One of the coolest things that happened during my military time, even cooler to have that memorialized in a music video.

As a veteran the best advice I can give if you or anyone wants to help, force politicians to make the VA provide the care and support we need. We don’t want charities. We don’t want handouts. We want our government to honor their end of the contract. Thank you for your support and your love of our country.

FFDP covered Blue on Black with the original artist Kenny Wayne Sheppard along with country artist Brantley Gilbert, and legendary Queen guitarist Brian May. All the proceeds from the video they donated to the Gary Sinese Foundation (Lt Dan from Forrest Gump).
Them and Shinedown are the absolute kings of covers!

5FDP does SO much for veterans and first responders.
The actors in the videos are veterans, they support veterans and first responder causes.
Must watches are Gone Away, Blue on Black(specifically the collaboration with Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Brain May, and Brantley Gilbert), When Seasons Change, Coming Down.

I'm a retired Navy Chief and I love America. My oath was for life as far as I'm concerned and I despise much of what I see happening in my country right now. Currently I view many in our government and our country as domestic enemies. I see government using our military for social experiments that are weakening it. In short, I'm disgusted and very worried for the future of my beautiful grandchildren.

BP Look up their performance of I Remember Everything from Carolina Rebellion 2018. They brought a little girl named Alison Hodge on stage through the Dying to Live foundation. Alison was fighting cancer and she loved music. She passed shortly after, but the gift FFDP gave her was amazing. In addition to what they do for vets, what they did for her made me a fan for life. This set was being played on the big screens at the other main stage during change over, and there wasn’t a dry eye to be found.

As a q0 year combat veteran with 5 deployments, I appreciate this post more than this comment could express you. My uncle was in the Army and National Guard over 21 years. He started losing weight and took on a odd skin color. They did nothing for him push him off over and over again. Later a family doctor in our city took a look at him and did texting. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer within a year he passed for said disorder. Our veterans are pissed upon by our corrupt government Democrats and Republicans alike and all the while given illegal aliens all the benefits that should go to assist those who in our military. My dad US Navy Vam Vet was F ed around for years its getting better however there is a long way to go.

I spent 6 years in the Army, and was deployed to Iraq in 2011 when the National Defense Authorization Act for 2012 was passed. This act included language that warned of the threats posed by combat veterans of OIF and OEF and that they should be monitored for warning signs of domestic terrorism. We got to see the lies reported on the news firsthand. We don't much care for the pointless wars that took our brothers and sisters away either.

Don, you are exactly right. We have the strongest military in the world because there are those who believe in what the United States stands for and are willing to serve to protect our freedom as well as protect others from oppression. Maybe not the only reason for the strength of our armed forces but those who believe in a cause and are willing to lay their lives down for it is stronger than those who are forced into something they may not entirely believe in. My take, anyway.
Agree or disagree with the wars and conflicts we have been in or created over the entire history of the country, those who would die to protect our way of life should never, ever be treated so poorly by those who send them to war. They should be honored for the sacrifice.

"Right now in this current moment, we have a lot of people who are not citizens of America getting benefits that our vets should be getting."
Yes, but it's important not to overgeneralize. An estimated 45K in the U.S. military are not U.S. citizens, and there are an estimated 700K U.S. veterans are foreign born.
We can't assume that any given immigrant is collecting benefits they aren't entitled to. And we need to realize that we _can_ do right by our veterans, _and_ treat immigrants humanely. It isn't an either/or situation.

I enlisted and went to BCT when there wasn’t much going on…several weeks into training, the isis stuff popped off and we had no clue what was going on until a drill sergeant explained they were beheading people and tensions were rising.
That being said, times change and you can’t blame a person for enlisting when you can go from peace to war at any time. You might not have thought you’d be in a war, but you can be tossed into one quickly and against your own ideals even. 🤷‍♂️

Sometimes enlisting is the only way out of whatever Hell they grew up in and recruiters lie. Careful how much you judge people for enlisting.

Thanks for your reactions and adding your commentary. You are bright and thoughtful and self-aware… refreshing. I appreciate you sharing your explorarion of music, which is a great example for everyone; we all need open our minds. …Here some songs with perspective on America that you may enjoy reviwing - Sweet Madame Blue by Styx (1975 with America coming out of Vietnam and Watergate, American band just entering their prime); Catch Me Now I’m Falling by The Kinks (1979 with America/world in a financial crisis, British band with new music added to a long career); Justice and Independence by John Mellencamp (1985 with America expanding and a generation into the Civil Rights Act, American artist with many hits before and after this); Land of Confusion by Genesis (1986 with America expanding, British band in their prime featuring Phil Collins with many hits before and after, this video is quite political but I am not sure they would make it today for several reasons).

I'm aware of good music and thankful my generation has no comparison. I'm a veteran of that time and with little wake to cling to music was a constant and continues to be so.

You have to check out their cover of Kenny Wayne Shepard‘s Blue on black! One of the best covers ever and Kenny Wayne Shepherd was involved. All the proceeds went to fallen police officers and such if I’m not mistaken.

I remember coming back from DESERT STORM and attending a parade in Virginia, and I WAS SPIT ON and called a "BABY KILLER" WTF?!!! I had flashbacks to what VIETNAM 🇻🇳 vets returning home went through. I never wore my uniform in public after that again
