Great video Mark. I'm replacing both of mine like brake pads whenever they get in. I find it ridiculous that I had to buy the one time spindle nut separately. Just include it with the hub assembly. Cmon! LOL
Thanks for this great instructive video!! By the way, would you know how to disconnect the discharge hose which connects to the condenser ? I had the freon evacuated already and i see bolts i think? Not sure where to start and the heat is killing me here in southern cali
Hi Mark, I have couple of questions; will this work for my 98 mustang? and why to set the torque in 205 first, then 221 lbs? just wonder. thanks for the video!
I have a 98 GT, but the previous owner had removed the ABS system and rings. Problem is, I can't find a front wheel bearing assembly with no ABS ring, so would it be fine to use the ones with the ABS ring even if it will have no use?
Wow, that old bearing was trash! It was wobbling when he pulled the rotor off. She's lucky that she didn't have the wheel come off the car while driving.
Hi its me again. I have a question. Iwas finishing up my hub assembly yesterday I got everything in slid the hub on greased it up Do i need to apply grease on the spindle threads? Also, my new spindle nut that i got at my ford dealership The spindle nut came off the actual washer . I tried torque it the first time before it happened and thats when i saw that it came off. The nut starts on the threads just fine until after a couple turns it gets hard and i dnt want to strip the threads on my spindle ... Can i use the same nut? I tried putting on the old one and it does the same thing. It turns hard after a couple turns Any advice? Sorry for the long comment
what if it is like a grinding? like if someone stuck something onto your rim and as you drive it just kept going round and round scraping something badly? i have a 97 and i know its my rear left tire that is making the grind noise? please help.
Great vide! would’ve probably been a good idea to change them both however, since they’re likely the same age and the other one will probably fail soon as well.
Yes I agree but it wasn't my car & the young couple were just starting out & short on cash. The other one did go out about a year later & I ended up changing that one out too.
how about a squeal when in reverse and the wheel turned all the way to the right? would that also be a bad wheel bearing? it squeals according to speed. you can never hear it going forward nor when you turn the wheel all the way to the left. I do have play up and down and side to side and usually that's a bad wheel bearing but mines a squeal or 'like when brake pads are metal on metal but not that bad..
It could be a number of things like a bad wheel bearing but also may be coming from your brakes. If you are in reverse & tap the brakes, does the sound go away or change? If so, I'd say check the brake pads for wear or missing/broken hardware. The wear indicator is supposed to emit a high pitch sound when the breaks begin to wear but sometimes the indicators don't work properly or not at all. But you also said you have some play...so I'd also check the wheel bearings too. Since you're basically working in the same area it's not too time consuming to check both. Try to determine & pin-point where the sound is coming from such as left/front, right/rear etc...to narrow it down. Hope you get the problem fixed!
I figured it out already . It was a bad wheel Bearing. I've known what really bad brakes sound like. Never squealed when applying brakes but my wheel would wobble a bit when im that positi
So i got my clutch replaced today on my 03 cobra and heard this exact same noise. My stupid butt thought it was the clutch because i was breaking it in. So long story short couple hours later driving to get gas and my wheel comes off. guess the wheel hub was the culprit :/
Hi Jon, no I didn't have a jack stand but did use a yellow ramp that I slid beneath the frame to make sure the car would not fall. It was solid & was was the only safety precaution I could take.
Sorry your time was wasted on this but the "Wheel Assembly" does contain the "wheel bearing". I don't think you can just change out the bearing only & why would you? The old wheel hub inside would probably be damaged from missing bearing parts. Maybe you'll be able to find an auto part store that just sells just the bearing portion & you can find a tool that compresses it back into the hub...but good luck with all that.
You are correct in that "they" say the bearing itself cannot be changed out. However it got in there somehow. "They" also say sealed bearings cannot be repacked. I have a glass jar and a vacuum pump that says different. Thanks for replying.
why dont you just replace the whole fucking thing considering its easier and you wont look lazy. i learned that from a buddy of mine a long time ago instead of trying to put in old with the new just so something else can break. dont be a moron. great vid
TheJacksfilms there is a lot of judging going on there Mr. films. I could argue that replacing the bearing is the opposite of lazy. Hell, you said it was easier to replace the hub assembly. So which of the two would be considered lazy?
This is by far the best installation/replacement how-to video I've watched. Thank you sir!
Thank you for a very thorough video! I’m going to try it tomorrow on my 2001 mustang.
Great video. Thank you sir! Now I'm off to change both hubs.
very good video on replacing that bearing, thanks
Great video and very informative thank you
Thanks for a Detailed well done Video.

very informative subscribed i have a 99 needs them pretty soon
Thank you for uploading. Now I know what's wrong with my 2003 Mustang GT.
Thanks for this great instructive video!! By the way, would you know how to disconnect the discharge hose which connects to the condenser ? I had the freon evacuated already and i see bolts i think? Not sure where to start and the heat is killing me here in southern cali
Nice work. Very helpful.
Hi Mark, I have couple of questions; will this work for my 98 mustang? and why to set the torque in 205 first, then 221 lbs? just wonder. thanks for the video!
Would you by any chance know if these are the same installation steps for installing the wheel hub/assembly on a 2004 Cobra?
I have a 98 GT, but the previous owner had removed the ABS system and rings. Problem is, I can't find a front wheel bearing assembly with no ABS ring, so would it be fine to use the ones with the ABS ring even if it will have no use?
Matthew Fox I know this is old, but I would think it’d work fine that way. Idk for sure, but I don’t know why it wouldn’t.
Wow, that old bearing was trash! It was wobbling when he pulled the rotor off. She's lucky that she didn't have the wheel come off the car while driving.

Is the front like the back the same way
what if it is like a grinding? like if someone stuck something onto your rim and as you drive it just kept going round and round scraping something badly? i have a 97 and i know its my rear left tire that is making the grind noise? please help.
I did this now my abs light turns on with the car starting then turns off a few minutes later. any ideas why?
My ford mustang made a loud clicking sound due to the front passenger side hub bearing assembly needing to be replaced.
is the driver side left hand thread?

Yes I agree but it wasn't my car & the young couple were just starting out & short on cash. The other one did go out about a year later & I ended up changing that one out too.
Mark Kapuscik well, they got another year out of it , so that’s awesome!
is a sign also the bottom of the tire looking like it's angled out?
+Eric Call That's more of a tie rod/alignment issue.
Awesome !!! Thanks
Are you in el paso? All the roads look familiar.
Yes...northeast by North Hills...
Mark Kapuscik Well thank you for the video. My bearings just went out from leaving that place.

you live and learn!! But hey now you got a new clutch!!!
Great video, but you didn't use a jack stand?? Thats very dangerous!

newer car getting better easy replace with ready to install
Is this the same for a 1988 mustang
it should be the same
is it the same for the rear?
no
Why is it no one's willing to show how to do the rear wheel
How you hammer new one in?
By hitting it
It can't be this easy.
Really wasn't bad at all...
i didnt get the torque part
symptoms,,all of them lol
This is not a video on how to replace the bearing. It's a video on how to replace the hub assembly. Thanks for wasting my time.
