Wyvern tutorial:
Step 1: destroy all ground targets
Step 2: bomb bases
Step 3: go back to AF
Step 4: stay there

It's great as an attacker, but it can only get one base at the best of times, and not in an up-tier.
It's my daily task grinder, and it's very effective as such.
Chad wyvern player tutorial:
Step 1) hunt bombers
Step 2) reach enemy fighters that are still climbing
Step 3) punish the ones that stay afk
Step 4) if you survive, proceed to play support. Therefore profit

The problem with balancing this vehicle is the fact that Gaijin only looks at statistics, and the majority of Wyvern player just use it as a bomber and in a brainless way so they get killed pretty easily.
So when Gaijin looks at the stats they see that this thing is not getting THAT much kills and it loses the majority of the matches.
Also add that this is a premium aircraft that gives Gaijin a HUGE ammount of money, so they are more likely to turn a blind eye and not move this thing up in BR.

@@SA-ks3exBR for BR planes already cost more than tanks, no? I just think crashing should be discouraged in some fashion, because I'm 90% sure the bomber pilots that crash 3 minutes into the match do it on purpose to 1) go to the next game quickly and 2) deny people the kill
Because some players do try to run back to the airfield but as soon as they realise you're catching them they nosedive faster than their mother can make a business deal for her "online business"

If you put it at 6.0, it could match the speed of turboprops and early jets sometimes, but then it would get clobbered by literally everything due to poor performance in every other flight characteristic.

The only special thing this has is the top speed.
It can absolutely be 4.3 though since it's still a good interceptor and can catch enemies off guard.
But the moment you have to turn, this thing bleeds a lot so it won't be difficult to kill.
For you anything can be 2.0 BRs above and still do everything well, because you are a veteran. You have to take into mind that the game should be balanced fairly between good players and average ones.
Broken BR is damned straight - I see these things in my I-16 ! The thing didn't see service until 1950 and seeing contra rotating turboprops in what are basically 1942 aircraft is stupidly immersion breaking for me.

The Wyvern is my accidental ace machine. Not even because I'm amazing with it or because its performance is amazing, I literally just take it out when I do daily tasks for ground targets and critical hits. It's because enemy players lose their brains when they see one.
They'll full-commit head-on, they'll fly in straight lines, they'll stall climb in front of me, and they'll turn directly into my gun solution.
I genuinely don't think this thing would be overpowered at 4.0 (even though I think it should be 4.3 or 4.7), if enemy players would stop doing such stupid shit in front of them. Aside from speed and guns, this bus has absolutely nothing going for it in a duel with fighters. Problem is, those two things tend to obliterate low-skill players.

Say i (in a p51) and a friendly p47 are being chased by a wyvern and a spitfire. Who has the advantage? In combination with it’s team it completely nullifies any fair matchup at 4.0
@@8-bithades305 Well, a better question might be, why are you starting off being chased? Also, yeah, two different planes which have very complimentary flight performance to play off each other are going to be extremely effective against something that doesn't deal with either very well.
Sadly, US planes which require altitude to perform well get absolutely shafted in most battles. That's not the fault of just the Wyvern or Spitfire.
@@8-bithades305 my expirience is that usually who gets matchet with britain at this br wins the game. spitfires just outturn everyone and wyverns just run the whole game cuz nothing can catch them up and if u try to go for spitfire thats alone wyvern will wait until ur stalled out and gun u down.

This plane is probably the best example of WT's P2W system. This and the Finnish plane I think.

People just use everything as a dogfighter and complain they get killed and perform poorly so gaijin gives lower BR

I'd never even have thought of using the wyvern as a fighter, but tried it out today and boy, does it make a great interceptor!
I’m fine with the plane but just how people use it/air spawn. For me it doesn’t matter that it doesn’t turn well, by the time you reach it, it’s taken out 10 ground targets and beelining to the AF. That or it dives on you from 300m above because of the air spawn. It just feels like a plane that if your opponents play it somewhat right you can’t do anything about it but sit and accept fate.
i used to use the A2D-1 Skyshark pretty much the same way (except it can actually climb) sadly it was so overtiered that its basically unusable now ...
a prop with whopping 20 kph higher top speed than P-51H sitting 0.7BR higher ... and fighting 8.0 jets non stop ... fun ...
Ive extinguished a few fires by reducing my throttle to 0% and shutting the engine off

By the way, if you throttle down before you shut down your engine and go into a steep dive, your chance to extinguish the fire is much better; I suspect it is modelled in WT?
I brought it to 6.3 once in air RB and managed to kill 2 fighters and injure a bomber by climbing at the start of the match. it's also great in ground RB at all battle ratings until you face missile SPAA
I love that the punishment for this plane being 4.0 is the forever fire burn
Incendiary chance is linked to shell velocity in real life. So .50 cals in a head-on should be pretty potent, since you’re flying directly into them at high speed.
But in-game it’s just RNG, afaik.
the only reason this thing didnt go up in br is because the average wyvern user is brain dead so he either instantly dies after bombing a base or runs away at his AF until he loses on tickets and so they usually don't get great games despite the incredible flight performances . Feels like a jet at 4.0.... (like 4.0, u can literally face a ju 87 in that thing, it's just unfair).
People say say it's balanced because it only has good speed, but then you compare it to other attackers in the bracket and it just dwarfs them

I'm a ground main but watching your videos makes me want to give Air RB another try. Whenever I do that I just get put back in my place in one of the first battles and avoid the mode for like a year again.
It may not shine well in dogfighting, but my God, what a beautiful bird.

My only issue with playing the hyper-aggressive wyvern is easily seen at 9:43: you have an Ace and you've destroyed the enemy team. You only have 3193 score. For events that require you to rack up score, Bombing a base, killing 10 ground targets, and poaching enemy fighters as they present themselves at you gets you more score. I did the fighter wyvern thing and got 4 kills, and a guy who bombed a base, got ground target kills and killed the AI had 4500 score when I was sitting at 2500. At 12:59 took you 7 air kills and 10 minutes of match time to match what the ground pounder did, in half that. Just time inefficient until Gaijin changes how score counts in ARB for the purpose of grinding score events like the Summer event.
Those AI targets are juicy as long as they don't have gunners that set you on fire from 2km out.
One of the few guys using the wyvern as a fighter. Long time ago I was using it as a bomber, nowadays I hate this boring gameplay and also use all planes that have an air spawn to act as a fighter... much more fun and satisfaction. Nice one, thx for your work! Greetings from Austria

the arado is 6.3 with barely topspeed of 650 and has no guns
Grinded out the Arado just so see, it goes 612 with bombs, but goes 713 without them at 200m
If you climb 1000m, you'll get an extra 10km/h
Though energy retention makes it an entirely different beast... If only it actually had a single gun.
Wyvern at 100m is 623km/h but the 650 is already known without bombload. It actually goes faster if you climb, 660 at 1000m, or I have noted down 664 at 4km. Though poor energy retention, as pure bombers you can kinda defensive fly with an Arado, which is typically a death sentence with the Wyvern unless you go on the attack.
Same BR as the Spitfire Mk Vb, yeah that makes sense

This is how in my games a single do335 can manage to take out like 4 US superprops by going headon and its hilarious to see f2gs with all the energy in the world full commiting
Ikr, its just sad. I never head on 335s because the majority of them use their pickle brain power to turn around and turn fight me in a desperate attempt to force a head on. You can guess how that ends up (not good for them). The only plane i use to head on 335s is the F7F, that things armament is good enough to snipe them from 3km away lmao, works every time

Few planes annoy me like the Wyvern lmao 4.0 feels too low for it, it's faster than pretty much any plane it'll get matched against and has a better armament than half of them.

I mean the Wyvern being a brick is pretty understandable since the damn thing weighs like 9,5 (7 empty) metric tonnes in gross weight. The Armstrong-Sidderley Python is just powerful to make said brick actually perform.

Watched this when it came out. Decided to buy the Wyvern. Proceed to destroy enemy teams. and regularly pull 60-150K games in terms of bomber/fighter/ground target kills.
This plane is criminal. Want something that can DO IT ALL and get away from anyone with enough awareness. This is the plane. absolutely filthy. I have to take a shower to wash all the salty tears and the shame I feel off each session lol.

I love how rockets went from free kill if you land them within a few feet to regularly failing to penetrate tanks.
The beauty of the Wyvern is that you can destroy a base and get back to safety before enemy fighters turn up…then get up high and join in the fun.

This plane should probably be 4.3-4.7… not XP-50 OP but it’s strong.
XP-50 is just a lot more flexible. You can outclimb literally everyone with your airspawn and then just control the entire rest of the match singlehandedly in that thing, where as the Wyvern has to rely on constantly running away on the deck in order to reset after each engagement. Wyvern would be absolutely playable at 5.0, you just wouldn't be able to thoughtlessly run from everything.
@@XSpamDragonX You do realize that the Wyvern is an attacker, not a fighter right? Why are you concerned about making sure that it is still competitive as a fighter when it shouldn't be? Put it 5.3 minimum with it's Skyraider and Mauler counterparts rather than keeping it at a low BR so it can be flown predominantly as a fighter.
As a fighter the Wyvern is very straightforward. Fly it with tactics that a jet would against props. With those tactics it is vastly superior to the XP-50 because not only can the Wyvern never be caught but with its very good climb rate sub 3km relative to all single engined fighters that it can see it can fairly easily turn it's fairly big against most everything it sees low alt speed advantage into a very usable energy advantage.
@@rainsilent It was a fighter in game on release, and I like to play it like one; I just want tougher opponents.
Every other attacker at either BR we are suggesting relies on low stall speed and strong elevator to try and fight back, the Wyvern would still be a boom and zoom attacker like the 335 but with the crucial advantage of top speed at sea level.
Either it stays an attacker with airspawn and goes to 6.0 towards the A2D because otherwise DEFYN, myself, and others will continue to shallow climb and humiliate stall climbers, or you just make it a fighter that has to take off and slap it BACK AT 4.7 OR EVEN 5.0 WHERE IT WAS TOTALLY BALANCED UNTIL GAIJIN NOTICED ALL THE MONKEYS YOLO BOMBING WITH ZERO KILLS FIRST STRIKE AND CAUSED THIS WHOLE MESS
@@XSpamDragonX It wasn't a fighter on release. It was an attacker. It was touted as being comparable to the Skyraider on it's dev blog. It was flown as a fighter by a number of players because it's high top speed at low alt was good enough to allow it to run away from a number of fighters, even at 5.0, thereby dictating fights.
I don't think it needs to go to 6.0 as an attacker. I think 5.3 is likely to be entirely sufficient. 5.7 entirely will be. It is tactically comparable to the AD-2 Skyraider. It just trades some payload for speed. As for those using it as a fighter? I know. I would be too, even if it was at 6.0. Thing is what you are saying it would still be capable of at 7.0 too as there are still plenty of stall climbers up at that BR. So you aren't exactly giving sound logic as to why you think the BRs should be what you think they should be.
I don't think it was balanced at 5.0, even as an attacker. Compared to other attackers 4.0-5.0 it was flat out superior. The Mosquito and Brigand, when introduced, were close in BR to the Wyvern and the Wyvern carried a larger payload while being a lot faster. Granted those two were over BRed at the time. Still, it is comparable to the AD-2, which sits at 5.7. 5.0 for something that is comparable to something that is fine at 5.7 isn't balanced.
