Imo buying a 60/70usd pack premium is a decent purchase if you make at least like 20k a year. You get a good premium jet, plus the 'free' GE can be used to buy multiple T3 or t4 props. The xp50 for example is 1600ge when not on sale, 109f4 is 1450, zero is 1300. Buy the pack on sale and also the props on sale, and thats a rank 7 jet plus like 3 super good props for only 35usd. Saves you hundreds of valuable hours and is super fun too if you get f5c for example. Besides, someone has to pay for the game so the rest of us can play for free.
Gunfighting is always more fun than missile gameplay imo. Jets around 8.0 are fun because it's still mostly gunfighting with the odd early sidewinder (which can easily be dodged), I love the MiG-15.
@whatdothlife4660 I'm genuinely curious, what is it you like about that BR (6.0 to 7.0)? I ask because for me, that is easily the WORST BR range in the game for that reason. It's so unfun to play props in that environment when jets can just rinse you if they play right.
@@whatarenames Tracer belt is entirely M20, but the Universal belt is mixed with M23, which are even more potent incendiary rounds than M20. Tracer belt is overrated.
i missed when the late corsairs pulled like 10Gs at 700IAS and didn't flat spin out of the nowhere when stall fighting. They're still good after the FM changes but they're different animals.

Just can't trust teams anymore. I was taking care of a 109 in my A6M5 Ko once, last match before it got uptiered (again), totally deserved the kill, J5 comes in and tried to snag it sets him on fire, I finish him. J5 guy snaps completely. That was the last time I even trusted team not to TK me.
Watching that Wyvern get turned into barbecue after spending so many games chasing them till my fuel runs out felt like a warm shower after a day of hard work.
@@DEFYN They changed the flaps to work how they do in real life: they will get pushed closed by the air before they get torn off. Allows for some interesting strategies.
@Delantho I don't really see the razorback, p39, or p38j being undertiered. Of all of them, the P-38J is likely the strongest but by no means is it far better than its peers. The p51c and p39's are good but also are rough equivalents of the bf-109 and Yak-1B. Hell, the Yak-1B is so much better than the others (in my opinion) that I don't see why it's not a step up.

Typhoon is actually a ghost of its former self these days. Couple patches ago they changed the flaps. They won’t deploy of 260ish kmh now. Even if you get slow enough to drop them the moment you exceed 270 they will just fold back. Not a bad plane by any means you still have that engine and those guns. But you have to play it pretty vanilla now a days.
Typhoon is still very strong. Still has great turn without flaps and not being able to use flaps means that you aren't wasting the actually great energy retention that the Typhoon has that was lost by using the flaps. The situations where you actually needed those flaps were not actually that often too. The flap nerf wasn't actually much of a nerf to the Typhoon at all. There are other props that that nerf hit way harder.
This was my first foray into the corsairs. I didnt bother with the earlier ones, but now theyre my favorite prop. I grinded out france just to get sneb'd up in the F4U-7, which i still use to great effect in 7.7 grb. Last SL crate where they snuck in the purchase and consume 10, I got the AU-1(F4U-6), and use that in my 7.0 grb lineup, also to great effect, and it helped me grind out the F3D-1, which is now my new favorite early jet

That makes you barely any better than teamkillers that shoot down teammates and then crash or gets kicked for it because you are proactively hurting your team. Play how you want to play but you are in a team environment. Completely screwing your team by not being willing to help them at all ever when you can just because you don't think it is appropriate for what you are flying is just toxic af behavior. You might as well just play solo at that point. Give that spot to someone that isn't actively screwing their own teammates. Edit: I get that the Wyvern's BR is bs (it is a 5.7/6.0 attack prop down at 4.3) but actively screwing your team isn't the answer to that problem.

just got an 8 kill game in this thing, had never touched it before this video. it isn't perfect but at 4.3 it seems strong to me. I definitely capitalized on many opportunities set up by my team though, might be a frustrating plane to have to solo carry in.
Again I don’t use mouse aim mode. This is also part of my problem. I like the fly my planes and not just point and click. I think realistic battle needs two modes. Joystick and mouse aim for those who want to point and click and let the instructor fly their plane. It makes a huge difference. Yes I know there is simulator battle. Sometimes I don’t have 3 hours to play a sim battle and I don’t want to strain and grind to find 1 plane.
I'm amaze how this guy can make it look easy to use the planes he plays, i like watching him and using his vids to master planes like this F4U-4. He's really good at explaining especially on how to use vehicles into winning in such situations.

Only the late Corsairs and they got this FM change very shortly after the F-16A was added to the game. They were the first prop fighters in game nerfed from Gumbo super human elevator pull/compression to historic elevator pull/compression. Gaijin has been slowly rolling out similar nerfs seemingly at random across a variety of props.
Me and my friend were playing these and we got talking about other US planes, the AM-1 Mauler to be specific. After briefly chatting I readied up and we started another battle, except he forgot to toggle off his AM-1, so I was in a 5.7 lobby in the 4.3 F4U-4. He said “oops.. uh, your fucked” I proceeded to get 4 kills, lmao. Flight performance OP
I unlocked it yesterday and I felt like, wow, now I'm dangerous. Turns out I play on a PS4 and Im not as precise when I shot than for example, my friend who plays on PC. Well, I have to learn a lot
So I don't think they changed the FM that much. When flying with mouse in WT it's very easy to do max G turns every time you change direction, even slightly. When they increased the controls stiffness what they really did was put a limiter on how much energy you can piss in each mouse movement. So the aircraft feels like it has better retention, when I'm reality you're just forced to fly more efficiently
They were nerfed to historical elevator compression and this nerf has been slowly going around in props, albeit not entirely accurately. Finding props that can pull 9 or more Gs is getting more and more rare.
Do you use MEC with the corsairs? If so at what settings? The thing i struggle with the most with corsairs is managing the engine temps, since it’s a plane i wanna be fast with but the engine just feels like nuclear reactor even with full radiators. I fly the p47 and the p51 just fine because of mec but can’t figure out the corsairs

Typical gaijin. It’s like how irl testing of the Japanese J2M series the American test pilots were scared of pulling back on the stick at high speeds because it was so light they thought the elevators might rip off. Gaijin decided that they should lock up worse than p-38s because reasons
They nerfed it to historical elevator compression. They did this shortly after people started complaining about the F-16A not being able to out turn aircraft in game that it should have been. The players blamed Gaijin using an overly limiting G limiter when truth be told nearly every fighter in game had massively overbuffed elevator compression allowing them to pull way harder than they ever could historically. This nerf is something they have been slowly doing to various props seemingly at random. At least mostly as Gaijin still isn't sticking to true historical elevator compression for all props a la the 109s and 190s after their nerfs still are better at high speed when they shouldn't be but at least they aren't pulling 9+Gs to the -4s 7Gs. More 8 vs 7. The next patch Mig-23s and 27s are getting massive turn rate nerfs to bring them in line to what they could do historically as are a number of other jets so this nerf is slowly making its way through the game all over. Personally I am waiting for the A6Ms to get their nerf. Historically no A6M could turn inside of a P-47 at 300mph IAS. Currently in game they have no issue doing that well beyond 400mph.

@@DEFYNDo you upscale the videos before uploading to youtube then? Why not just directly render in 2560x1440 or 3840x2160? Are you running a lot of filters that are heavy at high resolution? Imo, even 1920x1080 upscaled to 3840x2160 looks about the same as native 3840x2160 after going through youtube encoding, so why record in 4K? The bitrate would go further if you recorded in 1920x1080 downscaled by OBS, plus you don't have to deal with 4k footage in the editing software. Is it for anti-aliasing? I doubt there would be much of a difference for the gameplay footage downsampling in OBS versus whatever editor you use.
This is actually historic elevator compression so it is quite realistic. If everything else got historic elevator compression (which Gaijin is slowly trending in the direction of) the F4U-4 would actually have great high speed handling and great overall handling. The worst offender of unrealistic elevator compression goes to the A6Ms. According to both Japanese data and US test flight data all A6Ms couldn't turn inside of a P-47 at 300mph IAS due to elevator compression. Due to this the favored tactic for escaping an A6M for allied pilots in the Pacific was to enter a dive, get to 400mph IAS, roll to the right and pull out of the dive because the A6M had no hope in following. If you do that in game you are 100% dead.

Vertical targeting is preference Altho i do recommend to keep it off if you arent used to either become it makes the orientation of your plane less of a factor when youre rolling since the camera is in 3rd person Tracers on late war 50cal guns set a lot of fires With most 20mms you want to use air targets yes The exception being Japanese and russian guns for the most part Its dependent on the gun

I like the Mid-Tier Prop content a lot. Its nice to not only watch the fast Top-Tier gameplay with missiles.
4.0-8.0 Air is a lot of fun IMO. I especially enjoy the dynamic around 6.0-7.0 of super props vs early inneficient jets.

This plane has been a great pick since gaijin lowered it to 4.3. Nearly nothing keeps up with the Corsair, and it’s surprisingly good at low speeds
issue is that you need to get the flaps down and the window is pretty small sadly. Can be frustrating to fly on your own ngl

My philosophy in the wyvern is ground pound only, if 4 guys wanna chase me fine but I’m not gonna be cancer and go air to air.

I do love the F-4U's over the P-38 since well it's easier to fly than a twin engined aircraft but definitely this video will come in handy
I unlocked it yesterday and I felt like, wow, now I'm dangerous. Turns out I play on a PS4 and Im not as precise when I shot than for example, my friend who plays on PC.

I love the corsair
So I don't think they changed the FM that much. When flying with mouse in WT it's very easy to do max G turns every time you change direction, even slightly. When they increased the controls stiffness what they really did was put a limiter on how much energy you can piss in each mouse movement. So the aircraft feels like it has better retention, when I'm reality you're just forced to fly more efficiently

It sucks the Corsairs got their FM messed with but in the right hands their still absolute monsters and some of my favorite low tier birds
They were nerfed to historical elevator compression and this nerf has been slowly going around in props, albeit not entirely accurately. Finding props that can pull 9 or more Gs is getting more and more rare.

Do you use MEC with the corsairs? If so at what settings? The thing i struggle with the most with corsairs is managing the engine temps, since it’s a plane i wanna be fast with but the engine just feels like nuclear reactor even with full radiators. I fly the p47 and the p51 just fine because of mec but can’t figure out the corsairs
This, would love an answer. One of the reasons I gave up on this one in particular is the absolute crematorium of an engine.

Why would Gaijin change the flight model to make the F4U such a high speed brick? Isn't it more historically accurate for it to behave well at high speed?
Typical gaijin. It’s like how irl testing of the Japanese J2M series the American test pilots were scared of pulling back on the stick at high speeds because it was so light they thought the elevators might rip off. Gaijin decided that they should lock up worse than p-38s because reasons
They nerfed it to historical elevator compression. They did this shortly after people started complaining about the F-16A not being able to out turn aircraft in game that it should have been. The players blamed Gaijin using an overly limiting G limiter when truth be told nearly every fighter in game had massively overbuffed elevator compression allowing them to pull way harder than they ever could historically. This nerf is something they have been slowly doing to various props seemingly at random. At least mostly as Gaijin still isn't sticking to true historical elevator compression for all props a la the 109s and 190s after their nerfs still are better at high speed when they shouldn't be but at least they aren't pulling 9+Gs to the -4s 7Gs. More 8 vs 7.
The next patch Mig-23s and 27s are getting massive turn rate nerfs to bring them in line to what they could do historically as are a number of other jets so this nerf is slowly making its way through the game all over. Personally I am waiting for the A6Ms to get their nerf. Historically no A6M could turn inside of a P-47 at 300mph IAS. Currently in game they have no issue doing that well beyond 400mph.

@@DEFYNDo you upscale the videos before uploading to youtube then? Why not just directly render in 2560x1440 or 3840x2160? Are you running a lot of filters that are heavy at high resolution? Imo, even 1920x1080 upscaled to 3840x2160 looks about the same as native 3840x2160 after going through youtube encoding, so why record in 4K? The bitrate would go further if you recorded in 1920x1080 downscaled by OBS, plus you don't have to deal with 4k footage in the editing software. Is it for anti-aliasing? I doubt there would be much of a difference for the gameplay footage downsampling in OBS versus whatever editor you use.

All the German mains cried until gaijin nerfed it an unrealistic level.
This is actually historic elevator compression so it is quite realistic. If everything else got historic elevator compression (which Gaijin is slowly trending in the direction of) the F4U-4 would actually have great high speed handling and great overall handling.
The worst offender of unrealistic elevator compression goes to the A6Ms. According to both Japanese data and US test flight data all A6Ms couldn't turn inside of a P-47 at 300mph IAS due to elevator compression. Due to this the favored tactic for escaping an A6M for allied pilots in the Pacific was to enter a dive, get to 400mph IAS, roll to the right and pull out of the dive because the A6M had no hope in following. If you do that in game you are 100% dead.

Hi, just a question: Why dont you use vertical targeting? Is it personal preference or something else? also why using tracers ? isnt it better to use antiair ammo?

Vertical targeting is preference
Altho i do recommend to keep it off if you arent used to either become it makes the orientation of your plane less of a factor when youre rolling since the camera is in 3rd person
Tracers on late war 50cal guns set a lot of fires
With most 20mms you want to use air targets yes
The exception being Japanese and russian guns for the most part

Defyn, I have a question, how good are you in cockpit battles either in simulator mode or realistic? I'm curious. I do cockpit mode in Real Battles. It makes it more fun, in my opinion and even more challenging.

how the hell do you climb with this thing? i see that it has 18m/s climb ratea on the stat card but it climbs slower than my i185 or my p51k..maybe due to the flight model change? if so...how do i climb now that the model has changed?
