      With 68 seconds and 3 timeouts left you can basically start from your own 5 and still have a chance to win by a field goal. Just look what the chief did against the bills. I'll never understand why defenses don't play more aggressive in such situations.

      @@Benno20101 naw i disagree, during this time the game of football was football and defense can play defense actually, today defense cannot do anything without getting a flag and it's just all about the offense and high score games and during this time the patriots with bill belichek Brady were just a step ahead over every team, but bills chiefs game whoever had the ball last was going to win because both teams had juggernaut offenses..still was a great game though

    It's a damn shame that people have forgotten how well Delhomme played in this Super Bowl. That Pats defense was #1 all year and had just shut down the two co-MVPS of the league in their last two games, particularly humiliating Peyton Manning. The fact that Delhomme was able to throw it all over the field on them was incredible.

      It honestly makes sense a short agile and physical receiver like Steve smith with excellent route running was almost perfect to beat our physical man coverage in a way that Reggie Wayne just wasn’t equipped to if Carolina had won I would’ve given mvp to Steve smith

      Once he found a rhythm, he most definitely did. Remember the Panthers were a run-first team, much like their most recent NFC Championship team was, and they couldn't get the running game going aside from the 2 long ones broken that directly led to 9 of their points. And yes, he was only 1/9 for 1 yard through the first 17 minutes, but after that, he was 15/24 for 322 yards and 3 TDs. That's insane, regardless who puts up those kinds of numbers.

      The new logos are awful. They brought out a new idea on super bowl 45 and copied the design, then when super bowl 50 it was even worse. The new ones is just an attempt to bring back originality. "Oh this one's in Los Angeles!" "Oh this one's in Phoenix!" "Oh this one's in Vegas!". Still not original when you're just doing the same thing over and over again. The super bowl 59 logo just sucks. The green doesn't look good. Atleast we can cherrypick who makes it to the super bowl, this year it's the 49ers and the Ravens. Just pray that they go back to pre SB 45 and make original logos for once.

    I’m not a Pats fan but boy have they played some Super Bowl classics. In my mind the Seahawks vs Patriots Super Bowl will go down as the greatest one ever (mostly because it went back and forth. The Seahawks looked destined to win it the whole way starting in Green Bay and then just ran out of magic at the last possible minute.) The last Super Bowl was okay but if anything the great offense could be attributed to atrocious defense. Seattle and New England both had excellent defenses when they played. Seattle had an all time great defense. The Falcons vs Patriots game was really good too, but it was mostly just watching the Falcons have a complete meltdown at the end lol
    Anyways, the Panthers vs Patriots SB could be argued as better than any of those. What a game!

    Classic game where you shouldn't go for 2 unless you have to. Here's my argument:
    When the Panthers scored to make it 21-16, they went for 2, hoping to make it 21-18 (within a FG). They didn't make it. If they would've just kicked it, it would be 21-17.
    Panthers score again to go up 22-21 now. In order to be up by a FG, they went for it again and didn't get it. However, if the score was 21-17, the touchdown would've made it 23-21, and kicking it would've made it a FG lead at 24-21, but instead, it's 22-21.
    Patriots answer back, making it 27-22. They go for 2 and get it, making the score 29-22 (TD lead). However, if the score was 27-24, it is very unlikely that Belicheck goes for 2 and just kicks the extra point, which would've made the score 28-24, instead of 29-22.
    Panthers score late, tying the game at 29. However, if it was 28-24 before they scored, now the score would be 31-28 after they scored. This means that the Patriots would need a FG just to tie, instead of to win.
    Even if Vinatiari ties the game up... the game goes into OT. The way the Panthers played in OT that year, it would've been very interesting to see what happens after that... but, instead, the Panthers left points on the board, and we never got to see that "what if" scenario play out.

    • @lhsbandfreak11
      @lhsbandfreak11 5 років тому +15

      As a Panthers fan, it's definitely a painful "what if" to think about. However, that being said, I think it's safe to say that whoever would've won the coin toss would've won the game, given how each offense was just picking the opposing defenses to shreds at that point. If the Panthers got it first, they win, especially with the Patriots not having Rodney Harrison in the secondary after he broke his arm. If the Patriots got it first, likewise. Only stop the Panthers got that 4th quarter was really a self-inflicted wound by Brady floating it up for grabs in the end zone that led to the pick.

    • @jhupp8707
      @jhupp8707 5 років тому +8

      As a Bears fan John Fox is one of the worst coaches ever when it comes to that stuff but also if the dumbass kicker didn’t kick the kickoff out of bounds I doubt the Pats have enough time to get all the way down the field for a field goal

    • @seanconner7932
      @seanconner7932 5 років тому +5

      I understand the logic behind the "just kick it" argument, but the argument the other way would state that if the Panthers did succeed on their first two-point try, they'd have been within a field goal and be in much better shape down only three. Of course, we all know how the math works out once they missed it and if they'd just kicked the PAT (thank you J. A. Greene), but there is good reason in going for two, especially if the game goes scoreless until late.
      Say the Patriots maintain the lead in the fourth quarter with neither team scoring, and the Panthers are down 21-18 with less than a minute to go and have, say, a 4th and 12 from the 29-yard line. There is a good chance the field goal goes through to tie the game for the Panthers, and a much lower chance of them scoring the touchdown they need down 21-17.
      Yes, it's easy to play the result and say that since both teams kept scoring, they should have just kicked the PAT... well, who's to assume? Neither team did anything in the third quarter offensively, so it seems reasonable to say that it could have ended up being a game where nobody scored until the final moments.
      The example I would use would be the 2005 AFC Divisional Game between the Steelers and Colts. The Colts scored and went for two and got it to make it 21-18. In the game's final moments, they had the option of a field goal attempt because they were down only three. Vangerjagt shanked it and the Colts lost, but at least they had that option to work with.
      And finally, teams are historically around 50-50 on two-point conversion attempts. It's like flipping a fair coin. Let's say heads represents a successful two-point conversion and tails represents a failed try (I'm way over-simplifying here, but I'm using the probabilities to prove a point). So if I flip heads on the first try (50% chance), I win. If I flip a tails and then a heads (25% chance), then I at least break even. The only way to lose is to get back-to-back tails (25% chance). Given the probabilities, it seems as though the odds are stacked in favor of teams going for two in that situation, or at least not against them.
      Again, your argument makes complete and total sense, but it's really a gamble no matter what you choose.

    THE #1 Most Underrated Super Bowl of ALL TIME (in my opinion). At the very least it is the most underrated of the 2000’s. (But myself along with plenty of other fans agree it’s the most underrated of all time). The Tom Brady led pats we’re coming off a pretty dominant season...putting of better stats & a better record than the underdog panthers. The Pats/Brady had just won their 1st Super Bowl just 2 seasons earlier in the 2001-2002 season & we’re back again for the second time in 3 years. The Panthers had a roller coaster of a season...but the “Cardiac Cats” played hard, finishing with a 10-6 record & earning an NFC Wild Card Playoff spot.. They were the underdogs in every playoff game of this postseason...playing every game on the road (against Dallas, the Greatest Show on Turf in St. Louis in triple OT, finally winning the NFC @,Philly.. Led by the 4th overall ranked Defense in the NFL this season the Panthers had a very stout defense led by one of the best D-Lines of all time...w/ Mike Rucker, Brenston Buckner, Julius Peppers & Kris Jenkins...talented LB’s in Morgan & Witherspoon...and a competent Secondary w/ hard hitting safety Mike Minter plus CB Ricky Manning Jr who had a monster postseason run. The offense was led by the 10th ranked O-Line w/ a Rookie Jordan Gross at LT, All-Pro/Pro-Bowl WR’s in Steve Smith & Muhsin Muhammad (plus savvy veterans like Ricky Proehl). Two talented RB’s on hot streaks in veteran Stephen Davis & the younger Deshaun Foster (Davis went over 1,000 Rushing Yards this season & Fostef emerged later in the season/postseason as a talented back...those two combined for nearly 100 Rushing Yards & 1 Rushing TD in this game. QB Jake Delhomme (former backup for the Saints for a couple seasons...and a former NFL-Europe Player...came out of nowhere this season when he replaced starter Rodney Peete during Week 1 vs. Jacksonville...leading us to a last minute victory & leading us to a double-digit win season...he was named an All-Pro/Pro-Bowler this season and would remain our franchise player for a further 7 seasons. Steve Smith, Ricky Proehl, Muhammad & D. foster all scored a TD in this game...Delhomme went off for 323 Passing yards, 3 TD’s & 0 Int’s plus a then-SB record for longest passing TD with an 85 Yarder to Muhammad to tie it up later in the second half. The game was tied at 29 with under 3 minutes to go in the 4th when Panther kicker J. Kasay kicked our kickoff out of bounds...allowing Brady & the Pats offense to start in great field position at their own 40. It was pretty much over once that happened. Took them only 4 plays to run out the remaining time on the clock & to get into decent FG range...which Vinateiri made...giving them a 32-29 win and earning Brady his second SB ring.

      Ah, don’t let that happen, brother.
      Rejoice at the fact that they played so well and remember that losing is part of playing games. It wouldn’t be fun if they just won every game. Also, imagine if your son played on the Patriots, you’d be very happy for him, yeah?
      Try this every time you watch a game.
      I am a 49ers fan and when Satan tempted me to be upset when they recently lost to the Chiefs I decided, by the grace of God to be happy for the Chiefs because they hadn’t won a Super Bowl since 1970. I was also happy for Patrick Mahomes because he was a young lad with a full career ahead of him.
      I also thought about how talented the Chiefs players were and I looked them up a bit and tried to appreciate them as if they were my own brothers…Tyreek Hill, Isaiah Pachenko…Travis Kelce… I was proud of them for getting this far in their career and that feels so much better than being sore vexed when the Chiefs won.
      We have to be careful with pride because harmful pride will be satisfying to us if we aren’t wise, like a man laughing at his opponent who drops a pass, this kind of rivalry is not good.
      A healthy rivalry is one that is based on love for one another and love for God.
      That’s what God teaches.
      Btw, as a child I remember sorta hating the Panthers when they knocked the 49ers out of the playoffs once and I regret that now. I would never do that today. I applaud all the athletes so long as they are decent people publicly.

      Everyone says that Brady has had the luck to have great defenses but Pats fans take that as if everyone's calling him Trent Dilfer

    The game where Tom Brady became Tom Brady. Prior to this game, he was seen as just a game manager who arguably shouldn't have been MVP in Super Bowl 36.
    Here, he completely took over this game. In fact there was a Panthers player that said "it ain't over yet...not with that quarterback."

    Go to 2:25 he threw a perfect ball for a td, branch doesn’t get ahold of it, then proceeds to throw a dart for a first down at 10 yard line but receiver drops it. Then vienteri misses his second field goal of the game. People say brady got carried with that end game field goal but yet he put them in position for the kick. Brady 🐐

    Most underrated Suepr Bowl of all time. The underdog Wild Card Panthers vs. the Patriots in the early part of their dynasty...with Brady already winning his first SB 2 years previous. High scoring game with big throws & big plays all over the field. The teams matched each other score for score for the most part, with the Patriots barely able to pull ahead at the end of the 4th Quarter to win it by 3 points with a final score of 32-29. The Panthers played well enough to win, and probably should have done so...but John Kasay kicked his final kickoff out of bounds after tying the game 29-29 with just a couple minutes left in the game giving NE a 1st down on the 40 yard line. Brady only had to gain 20 or so Yards to get into Vinateiris range...and he did just that. One of Vinnys most memorable kicks in a legendary career. But the Panthers should have won that one...still bothers me to this day

    The Panthers might have won this game had they just kicked extra points instead of going for two twice. The Patriots wouldn't have gone for two on their final TD so the final FG would have just been for the tie.

    • @700Ezalb
      @700Ezalb 2 роки тому

      He certainly didn't help, but nah, he didn't cost them the game. Panthers had an opportunity to make the Pats punt on that final drive, the Pats had a 1st & 20 situation on the final drive after a penalty, then eventually a 3rd & 3. Instead, Brady completes that clutch pass to Branch that not only gets them the first down but puts them into FG range, and they immediately got the game-winning field goal after that. Nobody cares about Kasay's kickoff out of bounds if the Panthers stop them there on 3rd down.
