    Drew, you taught me to peel and stick my walls. So I found "peel and stick stained glass" on Amazon. Now I have "stained glass" on two windows whose view was previously unattractive. Family and visitors are in awe of our home. I tell them you are my designer. Thank you!

    Drew: since I been in the interior design business for many years and have gone thru many different trends and styles, I’m so happy to see antiques and vintage coming back. To me, to see an older piece with history, in a modern room is just heaven.
    Enjoyed your review of trends for 2025. I so enjoy you young designers using titles like “pattern play”and “color drenching” for specific looks. This makes it easier for the public to understand the thinking behind the look. Kudos! Carol from California

    6:27 as a booth owner myself, I have always sold clear glass. But the key is to not display it with a bunch of other clear glass, always mix it in with other items that have the overall vibe you are going for when trying to sell it.

    Every example chosen was so beautiful to the eye. You have such taste. But the best advice to all of us is " There is so much stuff in the world - do we need to be manufacturing more?" My house is full of things that have had a former life and I walk around thinking "Look at that. How lovely".

      This! With exception of a few items of clothing (and even that I bought mostly second hand) and technology pretty much everything I have bought in the last couple of years is vintage or antique. I love imagening who owned the item/furnitue before me and what history it went through. I actually have trouble with dealing with changes, be it decluttering or chaging out item or adding something new but now I was able to declutter my whole home, sell or donate the things I really didn't use and/or got higher quality, more beautiful vintage versions of them and I no longer have issues with adding anything because old things just feel immediately familiar and cozy and not like they are intruding in on my home. I don't know if I explained that very well, but maybe you know what I mean.

    • @rmcar549
      @rmcar549 День тому

      @Olivaro10 💯 agreed!! I also enjoy walking through my home, envisioning the former lives of each and every antique and older piece I own. I love to think about all the people before me that adored these objects, and imagie who will own them when they are no longer mine.

Love it so much that I also started reselling. The uniqueness that you can achieve sourcing vintage pieces is amazing. And look at your home! Perfect example!!!

    Hi Drew, I‘ve been to Tehachapi about 37 years ago. I‘m from Switzerland and during my semester break I went to California to help a beekeeper who was living there in a trailer. It was a very dry year so we mainly drove around checking the beehives. I don’t remember the town of Tehachapi clearly, but I got around a lot and it was one of my best times of my life!

    Another great video. FWIW, if you love stained glass and road trips, Montreal is the epicenter of stained glass -- both historic and contemporary glass art. (This is because, historically, there were so many cathedrals, many of which have been turned into schools or condos.) You can find stained glass for very little in architecture salvage stores and even on Marketplace. When I moved here, I even took a stained glass-making class. There is an artisan community here that will make custom things.

    I guess all-white is color drenching, too. If you have lots of windows, white walls, ceilings, and trim can be soothing. But it needs sunshine.

      @sosexymagazinerobinwatkins8467 2 дні тому

      @@lonefoxDrew what shade of white? I'm really thinking of painting my room which has a lot of dark brown paneling and making it white but I don't want it to look like a hospital room. I want white but I want warm. I also want to really encourage the sunshine to happen. I am definitely a maximalist and I adore Hollywood regency so that definitely will be color infused as well as pattern as well as a representation of different time periods. That's why I keep thinking about white as the base. What do you think?

      This. My parents have huge oak wood dowry chest from 1731 with the name of the lady who owned it craved into it and the date when she got married. The piece will be 300 years old soon and it will easily last several hundred years longer. I am pretty sure at this point it would take a huge effort to even make it burn, if it can be burned at all.

    • @Olivaro10
      @Olivaro10 День тому

      I am already at the "I can go to my grave with this furniture" stage with most rooms but I am currently doing this with my bedroom. Already got an antique linen closet and a small bookcase with glass doors, found a bigger 1800s jewlery box for 10 Euros (I don't think the thrift store was aware it was that old), got a ton of vintage frames collected for a gallery wall, now a nightstand, closet, dresser and carpet to go, maybe a lamp and a plant stand too. And then I'm don't need to buy any more furniture, I'm done, none of this stuff is going to break for the next 100 years or longer (my IKEA bedroom set is already broken or warped in various places lol).

    I have totally loved your home remodel. I still say that if at all possible you need to bring back the previous owners just to see their reaction. Just like your landlords reaction of your rental before his passing. So priceless!
    Back in the late seventies I had a cleaning company. On many occasions I worked directly for the decorators and got to see some beautiful transformations from the drab white walls etc to a stunning home. One unit the paint on the walls was a charcoal gray/ almost a black. I thought it kind of dark considering walls, doors, casings and baseboards were all the same color. Then the accessories arrived. Typical to your glass, this was all done in a clear Lucite. The dining table, the chairs the server all Lucite. The decorative pieces were all Safari in nature. The russet and brown tones, plus any animal skins (faux in nature). At the end, the apartment was stunning. Can truly see why the dark walls - you would not be able to see your furniture.

    I’ve noticed many of the trends beginning in 2024 and I do believe they will take on life this next year. A lot of them are stemming from our containment during COVID. People were finally living in their homes. Wanting warmth, comfort and history to surround them.

    Mixing patterns is such an 80’s look! I did a former living room in paisley, plaid and stripes all in the same hues, color wheel and family. Pinks, greens and yellows. It was an English country type of look and it was beautiful for its time. I can see it done now in more earthy tones, but I don’t think I want that again for me.

    I just wanted to say thank you for all the information and inspiration you have provided over the years that has helped me so much to make my home look more complete, warm and beautiful. And for having become such a great advocate for antique home goods, furniture and accessoires and art because like you said, we don't actually need a new version of most things and old things are usually better quality, last longer and are just more beautiful. Apart from technology I have barely bought anything new in the last couple of years.

    Omgosh! I grew up in Bakersfield! I am 65 and just left there to move to Texas. I am building a house and plan to use a bit of western decor. Tehachapi was a great place !

    I just rewatched the old Bonanza series! It is the American cowboy aesthetic! Also early Ralph Lauren

    I believe you are so right about content creators pushing all the same stuff. I rarely watch them. Used to find it much more interesting but more and more boring. Th and you for being so original and unique!

      Same, I have usubbed from a few content creators and I have recently noticed I am down to only those who use a lot of vintage items (Drew, Mccenna, the Sorry Girls who do a lot of DIY as well as vintage..). I also love Alexandra Gater, but I wish she would use even more vintage and less new stuff. Lots of amazing DIYs on that channel though.

    You can never go wrong with Shaker style. It can be incorporated into Western or minimalist. I love Shaker! As I am an equestrian, I have to say it is always around those of us who are, but I will tell you it does get old and actually boring. So I like to keep my favorite pieces and then add more of an southwestern/native cause that is my favorite.

    I love art glass…..I struggle to leave blown glass in a thrift store! I have several sleek vases…never too many. I love bronze , pewter and sterling pieces. I also appreciate carved or natural wood burls. My mother restored antiques……As a result, I have a great love of, and taste for expensive things that are vintage. Hard to give them up…need to sometimes, though. My home is very eclectic. My favorite wood is still ash-blonde maple. I have mixed woods in my home…..maple, cherry, hickory and oak. I also love original art….too many beautiful pieces to buy prints. Cheers!

    Oh thank God some art in design! I’m not a maximalist but definitely I don’t find cubism and supper minimal design appealing.
    Design is ment to be a mix of art from different cultures, backgrounds and eras !
    I’m so glad that this year i’ll be seeing really interesting interior design episodes.
    Mixing vintage, antiques and warm cozy colors is my favorite 😍

    Your video is coming in very clear! My favorite pattern mix designer has always been Katheryn M. Ireland she was on a show with several other British designers like Martyn Bullard awhile ago
