Schools of salmon and more illegal fishing gear!

- I had a great time jumping back into one of my favorite swimming spots to hang out with salmon. I have posted footage from this spot several times in the past and many of you might know the area. the thing with this spot for those that aren't familiar is that its illegal to fish here. the locals call this the limit hole because its just above the fishing boundary limit for the Chilliwack river. But every time I come here during a salmon run i find tons of fishing gear and 99% of it is illegal. on this trip I found the biggest treble barb hooks that I have ever seen. I don't even know where you would buy something like this, i mean they are bigger than any treble hook i have seen in any of my local shops. anyways i hope you enjoy this video of some salmon swimming around!

Jeremy and I have both found big trebles in there too. That's why I encourage people to visit the spot and have a look at the salmon for themselves.

Yeah the size of those trebles was unbelievable. Very unsportsmanlike and a bad way to fish.

Those treble hooks were standard size back in 1968 embedded in lead. Back then you could snag fish anywhere and no hook size.
Have never had the fortune to see all these salmon...chinook, sockeye and coho all together...amazing! Pls keep up the footage...I'm subscribing!

Only saw a coupla coho at best too.

caught a salmon last week with a single hook three times the size of those trebles stuck in its dorsal fin . poor guy could barely even swim and was still trying to destroy the roe bag
Those are halibut hooks. Which is Crazy to find in the rivers

the fines and penalties for poaching and wildlife abuse is way to low .. they should be life changingly high... like get caught throwing treble hooks in there and lose your house or something.
Poachers here in Washington have had their gear taken and even cars, boats, etc. They just don’t patrol the rivers enough as I’ve never interacted with a warden yet most times I go out I see people snagging, keeping snagged fish, etc

This blows my mind i saw a few nice fish but most are extremely colored up why would anyone want to snag those if you were gonna snag
most river fish look like this at this point in the system. I honestly don't think most people could tell the difference between one right from the ocean and one at this stage once processed and cooked.

i would say most likely target shooting upriver. don't know if there would be much bird hunting in this valley

Those are just Indians fishing that’s how they fish, they use the trebles.
