Excellent video robert glad you got the second one in the net. Boy the smile on your face in car a was laughing. Good realese as well brilliant mate well done 🎣👍
Epic stuff there, Robert! brown trousered experience on a single handed rod, largely from my experience when you're fishing for trout! love the channel, just subbed. Its a gift from god when you can get footage like that! cracking looking river, I'm going to have to visit next time in Scotland! 😊👍👍
Nice video and good results. Just a wee point of correction; the trout season closes on the 6th October on the Ayr but not on the Mauchline Ballochmyle beats which the club close on the 15th September.
Superb fish mate. Makes me want to start Salmon fishing. I think I’ll give it a bash next season, would you recommend buying a brand new set up or grabbing something on marketplace to start out?
Absolutely give it a go pal! Depends how invested you are and whether you think you'll stick at it. You can get some decent new setups on a budget but if you want to trial it then go for something second-hand.
Great video and catch! Well shot, sounds perfect, great visibility. Makes a more enjoyable video seeing the cast, hookset and playing the fish unlike some other UA-camrs. I'm hoping to catch a Salmon on the Irvine before the season runs out 🙈.
Thanks very much Danny that’s great feedback to have. I try to capture as much as I can including the cast, the take and (hopefully) the fish in the net. I fish the Irvine too and hopefully have one or two trips down for a cast before the Salesian finishes there. Tight lines 🎣
Brilliant video Robert! I’ve been chasing my first salmon on the fly for nearly a decade without any joy. Next year I’ve got four trips to Scotland planned but amazing to watch how you were fishing the river. Top work going back in for that second fish.
Thanks James, no it’s very reasonable. £70 for the year, can’t remember the exact price of a day ticket but at this time of year it might be in the region of between £10 - £20.
Well done Robert, not been after the salmon yet but your video has given me plenty of tips. Heaviest rod I have is a 10ft 6wt, it’s an agilty2 like you use with a fighting butt attachment, but maybe a bit light?
Ah great I’m glad the video has provided a couple of tips! Generally a 6wt might be considered a bit light but it should be more than capable of handling a smaller fish. Plenty of salmon have been landed on trout rods , give it a go and see what happens 😊🎣👍

Brilliant. Tough on the single hander and with all the trees making it a tough cast.
Cheers Colin, yeah certainly my arm felt a bit like Popeyes afterwards haha.
Great video well done getting takes on camera. Getting salmon on wee rivers is great sport especially on a switch rod.
