It's pretty easy to avoid the tormentors during the second phase if you just keep grappling around and dont shoot their crit spots. They're pretty damn slow.
For any Titans out there, Crown Splitter/Throne Cleaver with Flash Counter is actually super viable on Legend. If you add on Strongholds you're more dangerous in melee than Calus is lmao.
Ahh finally a person with taste and actually fought him with Lament. That sword in legendary solo for me carried so hard and at Calus it just ate him up.
Sweaty players get very upset about the idea of major villains being campaign bosses, but this fight proves it can be done in a way that still feels monumental and final.
Savathun did it pretty well and all. The reason Calus leaves a bad taste, though, is because whilst I think his fight was fun, the actual narrative weight of the moment is gone.
Ok so the moment at 8:30 made my cry like a little bch. I was soloing this on legendary when it first came out (who knows how many light levels below lol) , it was 2 in the morning, I was tired, I had tried this many times before and they target that music change right as the last tormentor is defeated and you're on that last quarter of health. Oh man... I remember crying so hard that it still gets me emotional a little. Ironically when I reached that breaking point is was the run where I actually managed to be successful. They did a fantastic job! ❤
i know they put the cabal stomp in this theme cause calus is cabal duh but, on a more lore side, they should def have eclipsed the whole darkness theme thats in like every darkness related ost over the cabal stomp as a way of showing that calus left all cabal tradition and betrayed his species as a whole for the darkness because his greed took over
For me, I killed Calus on my first try. Savathûn took me multiple trys and had me having to finish her the next day cause my dad wanted me to sleep for school
Calus I found out could be cheesed super easily once the tormentor spawned if you just hide behind one of the indestructible consoles and keep headshotting him. Then just unleash full heavy into him once he forces you into the arena and it’s gg.
Rit and running around with a Omni Hunter on Legendary mostly invis to this track just hit different 🤣 I've never run so many circles in a boss fight but this track is so good!
Laughs in solo legendary without strand, running osteo striga ignoring the tormentors Cries in 60 attempts that were largely me dying to knock back from said tormentors
Honestly a great ending to the leviathan/calus arc (as of now), I don't really see why people are so mad? Yea some of the story is really really open ended, but thats what mmo expansions do, they setup the next one and make you excited for answered questions. We will learn more about the witness and the veil soon enough, so just hold up and calm down, be patient. Bungie has a story to tell and I'm still hooked since d1 launch.
Honestly the issue is that there is only one expansion left in the Light and Dark saga, so now wasn't really the time to be opening up so many more questions with little to no explanation. Like, what even is the Veil? What the hell is a Radial Mast? And how come everybody else in the story seems to know the answers except us?
It's a decent end to Calus' story arc but that wasn't the whole expansion, the Veil was introduced with no fan fare like it was introduced in previous seasonal story or something, along with the campaign mostly being a training montage for strand. Just not something people wanted this close to the end of the Dark and Light saga and possibly the end of Destiny altogether depending on where Bungie decides to go next. Also Calus' could have a better fight imo, not bad but disappointing compared to Savathun's.
@@PlamzDooM You calling it a training montage for Strand hits so hard. My first time doing the campaign i was with a buddy, and when we hit the Vex Training Course with Moral Support Osiris, I literally told him "I feel like I'm in a shitty Rocky sequel." No thanks in part to the really cheesy training montage music they gave that section. Out so often a campaign That was supposed to be the beginning of the end.
@@LowIntSpecimenit was incredible though, if you played with strand Imo the best boss fight in all of destiny And no i do not consider raid bosses actual bosses. They’re more like a puzzle with a heath bar
It's a good theme... but I was hoping for something much more grandiose for Calus. The whole time I was fighting him, this music reminded me of a K. Rool fight from the Donkey Kong Country series.
Shoutouts to the two Tormentors I chose not to kill during phase 1 thinking they would despawn during phase 2
I prefer fighting him with both tormentors up it makes it super intense. Unless you're on legendary then that's just suicide

Only way I could manage phase 2 solo. But I guess if he's bringing knives to a gunfight, might as well meet him in kind with chainsword.
Damn, Calus got hands
It is incredible how you can still hear Cabal Stomp in this
Calus became a true Cabal at the edge of Sol
5:51 When this segment of the track dropped while doing this fight solo … oh man
Coming back to this over a year later and man Laura Intravia’s vocals at about 8:00 are so damn good
Best theme in the DLC so far, when Oneirophobia actually drops in game I'm sure it will be as much of an absolute bop
Can't wait to see the difference between the soundtrack vs the game version when it drops
It was, in fact, an absolute bop
While I still prefer First Disciple, Oneirophobia indeed does go hard.
@@Jesse11788Yeah, the in-game version is kinda worse than the Official soundtrack one, lots of wasted potential and downtime
@guy1688 How? The DPS phase is the best part of the track and it's only on the in-game motif.

The fight itself and his duologue there is fine, it's the end he wanted. But it comes so abruptly for no real reason, he was just used as bait.
