Tarantula Lost its Leg! Regeneration & Autotomy

Tarantulas have amazing leg and limb regeneration abilities. What looks like magic to is just like the process of metamorphosis in butterflies.
On our tarantula expeditions, we often find wild tarantulas with missing legs. A very common sight and it doesn’t bother the spider too much.
Spider leg muscles have the ability to close the open wound immediately. Additionally, spiders are able to break away their own leg with a mechanism called Autotomy. It restricts bleeding altogether and the spider can go on its way, unharmed.

I accidentally took off all one side of my P. metallica's legs, during an escape attempt 😢
Two molts later and it's almost as good as new ☺

I have a question: if a male tarantula loses one of its pedipalps will it still be able to breed?

Is there a limit of regenerating limbs?

there is only in adult males who reach maturity - they will no longer molt and if they do, they usually have complications. But for female specimens, as long as they continue to molt, limb regeneration takes place :)
