I'm Jeanelle, your world traveling, foodie friend. I love spotlighting international foods from my travels and my kitchen, blending my passion for eating and learning about new cultures. No boundaries, just incredible dishes and recipes that you can make at home. I used to be afraid to experiment in the kitchen, but I’m here to show you that cooking and baking can be SUPER simple.
🌍 I was born in the Philippines before my family immigrated to the United States. Having the best of both worlds allows me to share the incredible food that my family cooked, as well as the melting pot of cultures that I’ve experienced while traveling.
Let's explore the world through food and discover your next favorite dish! Thanks for being part of the Jeanelleats family, let’s eat, explore, and create delicious memories together 🍳🌈
Gimme more musubi ideas! I liked making the "wall" for this one so I can stuff it with a LOT of tuna mayo without the tuna mayo falling out
Shhhhhhh hope that's bumble bee 🐝 tuna lady just saying
Where will your musubi molds be when they launch?
Fish on a plane is kinda gross
Do a fancy one like miso+salmon! The kind where the salmon is kept in a fillet (cut to size).
Forming walls to make it more like a rice ball is genius!😄
Answering a common question I also had: you can bring most solid food items through security, just no liquids. It has to go through xray along with everything else.
Thanks. Genuinely was curious about that. Too bad I'm not flying much anymore lol.
For future reference, yogurt is considered a gel and not allowed 😔
@@erlenmeyerm6349 good to know!
Thanks for this useful info!
I wish more people would bring their own snacks. Within the USA, TSA allows most food items. On their website you can find an entire list of what can and cannot make it through the security checkpoint. Basically as long as it’s not liquid or has some sort of liquid it should be fine, just make sure to double-check.
If you’re flying to another country, and even some places like Hawaii if flying from another USA state, just look up what can and cannot be brought in. If it’s not allowed and you want to bring it on the plane, just leave it on the plane to be disposed of.
Also, alcohol is never allowed to be consumed onboard unless provided by the airline. At least that’s how it is within the USA and their carriers.

Fish on a plane is diabolical
So uncool. If I'm going to have to smell your gross food, you're going to have to hear my unhappy opinion.
You should see her past snacks 🤢 hard boiled eggs, all kinds of cheeses etc
@@hashtagmatewhat in the fuck I’d literally gag she is diabolical
wahh wahh. its in an insulated bag, surrounded by rice. it's not going to smell. even then, if i smelled it id probably want some. grow up! some planes even serve fish as their in flight meals for long rides.
Why did I read this in Butcher's voice
tuna on a plane is devilish

INUMAKI TOGE MENTIONED
I LOVE INUMAKI TOGE!
I LOVE INUMAKI CHAT!!💔💔💔💔
Just to be noted:
1. Smell may annoy another passenger
2. If this is an international flight, fruits and meat product may be confiscated at immigration
3. Time consuming and very bothersome if you are taken to animal & plant protection station in the immigration
was in an international flight a couple weeks ago and brought a musubi and it was all good
Was in an international flight 2 month ago ...they didn't take the food I had. I had fruits, cheese and meat
@@glow2500 It’s ok, just to be sure that you will consume the foods during the flight. If you have fruits/meat upon arrival of another country and police dogs noticed that you have a food in your baggage, you will be taken to animal & plant protection station and staff will open & check your baggage.
It is an international guidelines, although I don’t know if all countries follows this.
unfortunately for everyone else, i do not care ! ill eat smelly foods if i please, and others can eat smelly foods if they please. tough luck.
@womankisserjermaluvr so selfish for what? Fish makes me gag just from the smell
Defo Inumaki 🤍
Tuna is literally the last thing I want to smell on a flight
Breathe through your mouth then lol. It’s tiny it’ll take like five minutes to eat and at most only the people immediately next to her will smell it. And it’s not even a bad smell? tuna is great. It’s not rotting so
I dunno, egg salad is pretty close
Once had a dog poop on a plane, tuna isn't so bad in comparison
@stylesismyhusband You do realise a plane is a closed environment, right?
It takes A WHILE for the air to circulate.
And most people find fish an unpleasant smell.
@@PeaceOfMake white albacore tuna barely has a smell, are you guys thinking the cheap stuff that comes in oil?
Situations like crying babies on a plane often can’t be avoided but tuna on a plane definitely can 😭 I bet it was delicious but probably would have been nicer for everyone else if it was consumed either before or after the flight though!
I went on a flight once with someone who either had or had just eaten curry…. It was pungent.
lol she always does this, the thing that has irritated me most about her. It’s either the eggs or the fish in the enclosed space of the plane, no consideration for others.

When I was flying between America and Canada, no snacks that weren't sealed by a company were allowed. In other words, no homemade food unless it was bought at the airport. They made people throw away fruit, sandwiches, etc. before going through TSA.

The audacity to eat tuna on a plane. An enclosed space with recycled air
Her seatmate must have been thrilled.
Im pretty sure her seatmate was her sister, thank god for that. Idk if they just can't smell or are used to fish stink or what for them to not be bothered by tuna on a plane
Bullcrap! That tuna smell would woft in that plane, it's literally recycled farts and now tuna in the mix for her fellow passenger's to enjoy.
Hey, I'm genuinely curious. Does canned tuna smell bad in other countries? Where I live it doesn't smell like much of anything, but maybe the canning process is different or something?
People fart on the plane but nobody’s complaining about that
@@Riwy1942That's what I was wondering, too. 🤷🏻♀️ Tuna doesn't stink. Now SARDINES, whooo they waft! I love them, but am courteous enough to eat them alone with no one around. I've carried tuna sandwiches for lunch my whole life, and they barely smell like anything. Even in elementary school, no one ever once commented.
In my experience, the mayo has a more pronounced fragrance.
Please don’t bring tuna or fish on a plane.

@therealmayac so, she should pack ones for all the people on the plane? 😂

I don’t know if anyone has ever noticed that tuna salad doesn’t have a strong smell, unless you’re particularly close to it. The fact that she added mayo, and then covered that little bit of tuna in a ton of rice, most likely eliminated the odor.
Tuna on a plane is sociopathic behaviour lol
so you've been trained to diagnose sociopathy?
@@melid4162New vocab word for you: "hyperbole"
Inumaki core 🤧
Ugh. The last thing I'd want to be smelling on a hot packed plane. 😩
T_T I weep for people like my friend who is Neurospicy and has sensory issues, which include a very particularly strong averse reaction to the smells of tuna, specifically CANNED tuna. Can't open a can of it anywhere within smelling range of them, or they start to gag and have to run. I've literally become used to never eating anything involving tuna with them unless its tuna sushi or a tuna dish at a resto where they wont have the associated smells...
While flying does mute some of the smell/taste senses, it doesn't diminish them such that we CAN'T smell that tuna and theres no way all the ingredients would completely cover it up either.
I would eat one of those outside, but not in an enclosed plane where people are breathing in recycled airs and stuff... There's so much risk of it bothering someone else in general and on top of that, what if someone there has sensory issues with that smell??
T_T people are always forgetting that there may be people in the crowd for whom that bothersome smell is not good... I like what she made, and I want to make some too, but I'm sad to see so little consideration for the rest of the passengers.
@@bakaichigo the people who do shitty things on planes, small enclosed spaces in the sky that people cannot escape for personal or medical reasons

Imagine if someone was allergic to her totally unnecessary snack
About eating fruit from a tree, all apples come from trees, but the ones in stores are usually mass produced (and right now the policy is to cultivate varieties that are less prone to diseases, but not really tastier). When it comes to traditional fruit trees in orchards, it all depends on the variety and your climate. As you said, oranges from your own orange tree may not be as sweet, but that’s because of the climate (that’s why in colder climates you grow orange trees in a closed orangery). When it comes to apples, wild ones are definitely very small and too bitter to eat raw (although that’s the original taste of the apple = bitterness). However, there are so many old and unique varieties of apples, some very sweet, some more sour, and of various sizes and qualities, that they’re really incomparable to the store bought apples (especially those waxed, shiny, tasteless ones). I cannot imagine living without many fruit trees surrounding my house and my grandma’s homemade juice and jams. We have apples, pears, plums, mirabells and cherries. They’re the most delicious straight from the tree.
Not the tuna lmaooo

My toge!! I'm so jealous!😭
How long can rice be kept in a room temp lunchbox safely? I always want to have sushi for lunch but I get nervous taking it to work bc I have a long commute on foot.
I make onigiri quite often and from about 6 to 7 in morning til about noon it seems fine but I do have small insulated bag that looks like a brown paper bag lol. We slip a flat ice pack in the bottom if going to the beach or out in the boat.
But if done right it should be fine for a few hours at cool Temps.
Usually your hands are salted while forming the triangles but if you add sushi type seasoning to your rice(salt/sugar/saki) it also keeps it safer.
I usually don't do tuna mayo if going to be away from cool area or have a work fridge just to be safe.
It's a good travel food. Watch a teaching video and you can learn to make the 1/2/3 tear away wrapper so your nori strip stays crispy too. It's rather easy once you see how it's done. Or I have packed a thing of korean seaweed snacks to wrap when we open it.
Janelle packed her's in an insulated lunch bag, but to be safe you should really add an ice pack or two in. As long as the rice is still fridge-temp cold when you take it out, it will be good. Just be sure to refridgerate it again as soon as you can. Not to try and scare you, but room temp or warm rice is one of the most potent bacteria growing environments of any food product.
wouldnt the raw fish be more concerning for safety of room temp? please dont eat questionable raw fish and meats
