It would be good to remember that the S24 Ultra comes with 256G in UFS 4.0 and not 128G in UFS 3.1, But above all, the S24 Ultra has a processor that is 2 years ahead of the Tensor G4 and currently does not cost $1300, but $1000-$1100. These Pixel 9 Pro / 9 Pro XL are not bad smartphones, but they are actually way too expensive for what they are, they are are not even on par or compete with the iPhones 14 Pro / 14 Pro Max and S23 Ultra, so S24 Ultra / iPhone 15 Pro Max 🤷🏽♂️, they can try to compete with the S23 Plus / iPhone 14 Pro standard, and even then, the only thing they do better than the S23 Plus / iPhone 14 Pro is zoom, and above all, Gemini (Google Ai) is not even exclusive to the Pixel, so 🤷🏽♂️
I use temperature sensor alot...Ex. I was traveling around country and i was looking for lake and rivers to swim in. I was able to see what the temp of the water was before i jumped in. When you are in Montana this is important especially if you dont live in the area.
Just my opinion but it is less of a gimmick than all this AI stuff on the Pixel 9s. The spen is usefull for some very often for others just from time to time. But this AI stuff.....you try it once, think it is ok and then never use it agaim because the features are EXTREMELY niche and not reliable enough.
Im a pixel and a samsung fan, the xl is a really good phone but the 24 ultra is a great phone. I like the fact that you are practical in your reviews and get real about features. While some things sound great, in reality, it really can be gimmicky and that is what people need to know. I was on the fence about the Pixel 9 Pro XL vs S24 Ultra. I'm still not 100% sure but you've definitely pushed me more into Samsung's camp. Nice video. Subscribed.
Hmmm. I was really optimistic about the video quality. I was hoping this is the year the pixel would do the same, if not better than the iPhone in video shooting quality. It seems for a creator who uses his phone to create social media video content on the go, the iPhone is still the way to go. But I have used android for the most part of my life. I love the pixels so much even tho I have never owned one. Off I have all the money to spend, I would get a pixel 9 pro as my main device, and an iPhone for social media and video production. Thanks for this review KJ
@@CallMeKJOSThe transition between lenses is way too dramatic, they need to find a way to fix that, although if video boost is applied it becomes way smoother tho, but they should make it on device
They would never because the reason google uses the g4 isn’t for speed. They specially design the tensor chips for pixel phones to make ai integration the tightest and fastest of any smartphones (you can see that with the on device ai which processes far faster than any other device). A major selling point of the pixel is these ai features and removing them takes away from a major distinguishing factor for the phone.

Samsung S24 Ultra all day. With the Pixel getting more expensive and getting in the iPhone and Samsung flagship price point, it makes it lose the value proposition it enjoyed. Especially when you consider hardware and processor in Samsung demolishes the Pixel.
I recently bought the 24 ultra. I didnt even know pixel 9 is about to eb released. I would have bought a pixel if it had free 1 year youtube premium and offered 60-90 watt fast charging. As it stands, the inferior chipset and ufs 3.1 for pixels are turnoffs.
@anuragprasad8924 with my usage, i charge once aday. I have about 20 percent left on 4G all day, dual sim, and about 2 hours of video calls. Maybe 2-3 hours of watching videos or movies.
I'm fortunate to not be a busy person. Once upon a time I was caregiver for my husband's sister and for him. They both had several health issues, which meant several doctor appointments. And, during covid, the cell phone had to be topped off before I went anywhere because, in the city I live in, we had to park, call the desk to check in, wait for someone to come out to the car to ask the usual list of questions, zap our foreheads for our temperatures, then abandon us until the desk called us to say, "come on in". I also found it easier and faster to keep track of appointments in the calendar app, and keep the necessary information required for both my sister-in-law and husband in a notes app. So, faster charge times would have been a plus back in 2020, but I managed by plugging in every evening so as not to worry about running out of juice. Now they are both gone so I no longer have to worry about keeping my phone charged to the max daily. In fact, my S22 Ultra usually has to get plugged in every three days or so now! I am (obviously) starting to look at the newer phones, and the Pixel has piqued my interest for a while. But, I'm afraid I will miss the stylus that I am used to having going back to my Note 9, so this new search is taking me more time then I anticipated.
This is an excellent opinion / review of these two phones, thank you for taking the time to create this comparison! Curious.. what do you use for a daily driver?
The problem is that this pixel is not better than the samsung in all the ways, so it s not worth it, since the new samsung is released in a few months and until then, the s24 ultra, with 256gb, is 100€ cheaper
I just can't deal with Samsung's software and prefer pure android. I tried Samsung, but having multiple contact apps, etc, just weighs down the premium hardware
Does Samsung bug you to open stuff using their app? Like their internet app instead of chrome, or their photo or messages app instead of Google photos? I haven't used a Samsung since the galaxy S8.... I currently own a pixel 7 pro, Im waiting for the pixel 10, in the meantime I'm considering a Samsung pre owned phone when my data plan expires in a few months.

I didnt like the large rounded edges at first, noticed the phone doesnt stab you when bending over anymore 😅👍 Only issue is U.I. related. Because of the rounded edge it cuts off corner buttons on some apps like Snapchat
I have a few questions. Please help me find answers. 1. Does Pixel outputs images in 50 MP or 12 MP? Pixel 8 images were Pixel binned 12 MP images. Even though sensor is 50 MP. I have found the images losing clarity on Zooming compared to my iPhone. 2. Can the telephoto be used to take portraits? iPhones have this option to take beautiful portraits using 5x/3x lens, which no one talks about 3. Do they support HEIF/HEIC format? It is sad the none of the previous Pixels supported HEIF, which is half the file size of a regular JPG file... I am currently using iPhone 15 and is planning to make a switch to the P9Pro
1. Yes, but only the Pro models in pro camera mode. 2. No, only with the main camera. For me, the tele camera with natural bokeh is good enough. There is an option to enable a similar effect in Google Photos after you took the picture. 3. Pretty sure not.
Given that I feel the Pixel 9 pro is an overpriced upper midrange phone. I think a better comparison would be against the S24+. Until the Pixel line gets a comparable soc to the Flagships of Apple or Samsung it will remain an AI vector. Even the cameras on the competition have caught up significantly to the Pixel line. Tensor is the fatal Achilles heel of the Pixel line.
As the owner of a clothing brand, I find the S Pen on my S23 Ultra to be an invaluable tool for quick and efficient design work. It is a great asset for designers who need to work quickly and efficiently.
Heres are my findings so far...upgrading from a s22 ultra. I tested the s24 ultra and the pixel 9 xl in store hefore choosing the google pixel. I was a little disappointed that the layout on the s24 looked the exact same as my s22 literally everything. The only thing that was diffeeent was the screen resolution. I use the file management system and video more than i do pictures and the samsung hands down is a file management beast.no slow downs no messing about. Usb amd large videos are recognized quickly. Also the built in video player is better than the google photos player. When it comes to the pixel there it feels a little slow when scanning thru files. As far as video i prefer the pixels smoothness. Ive put thw samsung thru its paces and have experienced slow down after shooting for a bit and this translates to the image quality when zooming in and out run and gun style. The phone gets hot and starts to lag, there has also been instances where the camera took a while to open on my s22 after some heavy use and yhen force closed, so i was a bit leary and didnt want to experience this again. The form factor of the pixel 9 XL is better and feels just tight after adding a case and the camera bump helps u with handling the phone with dexterity. For me the pixel heats up fairly quickly but didnt lag so thats a plus. Another reason why i opted for the pixel was that the s22 ultra started having chronic antenna issues which samsung knew about anlfter some nonsense update, and then kept sending updates trying to fix it which it never did.
GREAT review!! My personal pixel journey... I got the 4a back when it came out, and I loved it! Stellar little budget camera. I finally upgraded to the 8 pro when THAT came out, and I was EXTREMELY disappointed. NOT worth the price imo. So many broken/failed promises as well. Google really needs to innovate their camera more... Oh well, at least I (hopefully) have 6 more years of updates 😂
I’m an iPhone 15 Pro user and I agree with you. The S-Pen I really believe is what predominantly separates this phone from the Google phone. I believe it says a lot about the demographics between the users of both phones. Pixels users may be more AI/ social media driven, whereas S24 Ultra users are more multitasking/ power users.
I dont like the fact that you can't unlock the pixel with fingerprint when idle without waking it up, then battery king is actually honor magic 6 pro for Androids beating the ip15pro max also. I see the portrait is still awful on pixel and Google need to start investing on improving their camera hardware, it's showing its age with over processed photos sometimes or hard situations. Compared to like xiaomi 14 ultra or vivo x100 pro. Video boost also is not going to typical for everyone cause it requires internet, large storage and patience😂. Well overall it's a decent phone that still needs to improve. For i have to say its overpriced especially with 128gb starting storage size. Also the zoom transition between lenses is terrible compared to the iPhone. I don't know when they would fix that together with social media camera integration
@@CallMeKJOS That's another battery killer, I can unlock my phone from idle on my xiaomi 11 ultra without touching the power button or AOD. Does it allow to set a double tap to wake?

I was offered an amazing deal on the pixel 9 pro xl from Verizon. I couldn't turn it down since i was in the market for an upgrade. I wanted the s24 ultra. There are no good deals and they are so expensive. Even refurbished one. So I have to go back to not having a sPen 😢. Thats my biggest hesitation. I have watched many reviews on these phones. I really liked yours. I personly played with the phones at the store compared them side by side. I like the feel of the round corners better. I loved the pixel cameras. It's not over processes and amazing quality. I buy smart phones for the camreas. I think the Pixel has the better camrea set up. I will miss the Spen. I will not miss all the stupid samsung apps. I look foward to pure Android. I also heard the Pixels plays nice with Apple. Samsung and Apple do not play nice together.

You mentioned changing the USB cable for fast charging but that is redundant. You need to be using a fast charging power brick. 45W min otherwise your results are not accurate. A good overall review and comparison though.
galaxy is really good but the camera, photos is not consitent. When taking shot the picture is good but when checking it from gallery its blurry sometimes.
People have all the time in the world to wait for video boost😅 people just take videos and then forget about them! And if you want to look at the video before the video boost is done, you get the preview so I really don't think that this is a problem
As far as fast charging goes did you use the official google 40w charging brick, to fast charge the device? Because that matters what kind of results your going to get as advertised All the fast charging devices that I've had from the OnePlus 9 pro to the pixel 7 pro. How fast it charged depending on the type of cables I used and the correct charging brick
Yeah, I spoke to someone in the comments and they let me know. I have an M3 Pro MacBook and used it's charging brick to charge the Pixel. After research, I only found out it emits 14Ws so I ordered the new one from Google. I'll test and update you guys
I had the s24 ultra but now have the 9 pro xl. The pixel is next level smooth. Don't worry about what people say. The screen isn't all that on the Samsung and it isn't all that when it comes to real world useage
Google is rumored to switch to tsmc as their chipset manufacturer for next year (that's the same supplier for apple i think) so i hope the performance tallies with other rivals, other things i would love to see is that they improve the shutter lag and video quality, probably they should make video boost on device since the phone has more power even though it'll still take long it doesn't matter, they should make transition between lenses while taking video more smooth, I've watched someone apply video boost and the transition between lenses was WAY more smooth Their camera optimization on social media apps are okay but it is still shaky They should SCRAP OUT that thermometer and use the money from that to improve the autofocus to laser autofocus so that portrait modes have more accurate edge detection Most importantly the performance should be way better because the other things i complained of won't be better if the performance still sucks We hope for next year then 🥲🤦♂️ Nice video btw KJ ♥️👍
Can't get away from the fact that the Pixel 9 Pro looks better than the S24 Ultra and Google UI is way easier to use and cleaner than Samsung. I've been a Samsung buyer for years. The small advantages Samsung have are not enough when Google gets their hardware on the same level there will be no reason to buy Samsung anymore especially if you are in America. Pixel 9 just looks professional.
Pixel is a great phone and better than S24 ultra as Pixel has Slower storage, less baseline storage, reflective screen, one less camera, unnecessary temperature sensor instead of depth sensor, only 1 year AI advance , poor camera (check other vloggers), less zoom capabilities, weaker chip set (check comparisons), no Spen (even if you take selfie you can use pen to click), using older back glass, no titanium .....
How do you crossplatform pictures and videos with your Mac and Samsung/Pixel? Im considering the S24U myself, but it's hard to get out of the tall walled garden of Apple!
I think most of what you get from apples ecosystem is easy file transfer and seamless connections between several devices. If you're looking to switch, start with using alternative software that achieve the same benefits as apple Even if they're a bit less convenient. Then slowly make the switch from one device to the next over the years.
I'm waiting for the 10 or 11 XL PIXEL as well and opting for the Samsung s24 plus+ as of now! Sadly I'm leaving Motorola Edge Plus+ it's a great mid-range phone but it's lack of updates's and now buggy issues after 2 years is irritating AF! Motorola makes their money making CB radio's and ham radio's that's their primary money maker and selling phones is just a side hustle for them!
Why is it important?
Why cant you use your finger or just hand till wrist?
The Samsung display looks obviously better in this video.
How about the anti-reflection glass of the S24 ultra?
How is the spen a gimmick?? If you don't use it, thats fine. But its very useful to those who use it
Just my opinion but it is less of a gimmick than all this AI stuff on the Pixel 9s. The spen is usefull for some very often for others just from time to time.
But this AI stuff.....you try it once, think it is ok and then never use it agaim because the features are EXTREMELY niche and not reliable enough.

Excellent video, great points !
Great video guy , watching from Lagos Nigeria 🔥🔥
In Europe u do not get all AI on pixel but on s24u you get it all
Very true. Many Pixel buyers outside the USA are not even aware of this.
Im a pixel and a samsung fan, the xl is a really good phone but the 24 ultra is a great phone. It just does more and dthingsst things better in my opinion. what im really curious about is.if the pixel fold 2 can dethrone the fold 6 as foldable king. That is going to be much closer i think, wish my pixel fold 2 would hurry up and get here so i can see for myself lol (had the fold 6 since launch).
Really great video, fair and very concise and your production is very clean!
I absolutely my s24 ultra and galaxy watch ultra but man this pixel 9 pro xl is tempting lol
Samsung galaxy s24 ultra is still the better phone overall
Absolutely 💯
Not even by a mile
@ulucio86 it def is better the pixel cameras are great tho the s24 ultra is way more powerful snap dragon 8 Gen 3 blows the tensor g4 out the water
May be, but is too big and too much rectangular
just not for the price

I still think the video quality is good but the iPhone/Samsung are slightly better.
@@CallMeKJOSThe transition between lenses is way too dramatic, they need to find a way to fix that, although if video boost is applied it becomes way smoother tho, but they should make it on device
You used a 45 watt charger for the charging test, right?
Man if Google could just swallow their pride and drop Tensor for snapdragon. Hopefully with the 10! Awesome video brother!
Nope, they are using tsmc for the G5

How is the battery backup? And what is the screen on time in s24 ultra?
@anuragprasad8924 with my usage, i charge once aday. I have about 20 percent left on 4G all day, dual sim, and about 2 hours of video calls. Maybe 2-3 hours of watching videos or movies.

The s24 plus? I don't think so
@@CallMeKJOSI would like too see the comparison between the 2 of them... Both are capable devices with pros and cons!!! 😎
Appreciate you, Joe. Currently using the Pixel 9 pro XL. Going to move to the Pixel 9 for testing with the other phones.
Your review was pretty solid. You got a sub from me 👍👍👍
The problem is that this pixel is not better than the samsung in all the ways, so it s not worth it, since the new samsung is released in a few months and until then, the s24 ultra, with 256gb, is 100€ cheaper
S24 Ultra is nearly 400euro cheaper in Ireland😮
ultra all day better build quality better processor better battery pixel is still years behind apple and Samsung
@@Gspec5you are not forced to use any of Samsungs Apps (besides for example Good Lock or Samsung gear but this is understandable). You can just deactivate or delete Samsungs apps and you are good👍
@@Gspec5 Samsung's camera default to their own app for editing and viewing, so it's cumbersome and not as good. For instance their app doesn't have the same photo search capabilities. You'll have two contacts apps, and the only difference is colour, so you may accidentally add people to Samsung's. You'll have two app stores. Plus the software just isn't as good. I loved the quality of the hardware and have had their phones twice now. S22 ultra and an older note. I now have a pixel 8, and getting a pixel 9 pro fold.
There's is literally 1 contact app, so I know you haven't actually used the phone 😂😂
@@jordanjackson8873 google and Samsung both have contact apps. If you're a long time google user, it sucks to be intercepted by Samsung in certain situations without the ability to uninstall. Why would you want to have contacts dispersed across two platforms? I've had multiple Samsung and Google phones and design apps. Perhaps you misunderstood
Unfortunately it seems maybe* you are sponsored by Samsung or something. Looking at your benchmarks you are using Geekbench 5.5.1 on the Pixel vs 6.3.0 on Samsung S24 U. Actual scores from Pixel on version 6.3.0 are 1894 Single and 4512 Multi. Still behind Snapdragon but not that exaggerated. I think most of people want fair and honest reviews. So your tittle of Brutally honest is not that honest at all. Thank you but can't follow.
I cannot justify paying over 1k for a phone with a TOC from 2020.
15secs in your intro, i subcsribed. good job.
I have a. Iphone a s24 ultra and the 6 fold. Was thinking bout getting the pixel 9 xl but I think u just sold me on not sending the fold back n getting the pixel. I like the pixels design but like u said the s24 is a beast
I didn't count the time of charging. But it's a massive improvement over the 7 pro which I came from. 9 pro xl reaches 37W it's peak.
2. Can the telephoto be used to take portraits? iPhones have this option to take beautiful portraits using 5x/3x lens, which no one talks about
Great review!
Great review! Do you have any heating issues? I hate my pixel 7 which was really hot....
Dex is the number reason i cant switch from Samsung. Wish others will offer something similar.
Thanks for watching bro. Gonna give the 9 Pro XL it's redemption?
Coming from S22 Ultra and upgrading my phone I could not really get into One Ui.. It's not intuitive. Google layout just makes sense
What about the grainy display on s24 Ultra?

The S-Pen is not a gimmick on any level… It’s quite functional in many ways. Great video either way, new sub 👍🏾
Technically you can if you have AOD.
@@CallMeKJOS That's another battery killer, I can unlock my phone from idle on my xiaomi 11 ultra without touching the power button or AOD. Does it allow to set a double tap to wake?
I am upgrading from my beloved Note 10+. I love this phone so much it has gotten damaged over the years. It's going to be hard to let it retire.
Nice Video, Got a link or where to find the background you use on your Pixel? Currently an iOS user but use to use Nexus/Pixels up until the iPhone X. Hoping this is enough to bring me back. Cant stand using the Samsungs for photo’s of my children or pets, just a blurry mess
I got the wallpaper from an app called backdrops
You mentioned changing the USB cable for fast charging but that is redundant. You need to be using a fast charging power brick. 45W min otherwise your results are not accurate. A good overall review and comparison though.

As far as fast charging goes did you use the official google 40w charging brick, to fast charge the device? Because that matters what kind of results your going to get as advertised
All the fast charging devices that I've had from the OnePlus 9 pro to the pixel 7 pro.
Geekbench 5 vs geekbench 6 is a little disengeuous because they score differently.

@@CallMeKJOS oh ok. Hopefully that helps with the OEM.
pixel9 xl is nice design & solid..
but i reject because the chipset to weak.!
so i go for s24u
Google is rumored to switch to tsmc as their chipset manufacturer for next year (that's the same supplier for apple i think) so i hope the performance tallies with other rivals, other things i would love to see is that they improve the shutter lag and video quality, probably they should make video boost on device since the phone has more power even though it'll still take long it doesn't matter, they should make transition between lenses while taking video more smooth, I've watched someone apply video boost and the transition between lenses was WAY more smooth
Their camera optimization on social media apps are okay but it is still shaky
They should SCRAP OUT that thermometer and use the money from that to improve the autofocus to laser autofocus so that portrait modes have more accurate edge detection
Most importantly the performance should be way better because the other things i complained of won't be better if the performance still sucks
We hope for next year then 🥲🤦♂️

Can't get away from the fact that the Pixel 9 Pro looks better than the S24 Ultra and Google UI is way easier to use and cleaner than Samsung. I've been a Samsung buyer for years. The small advantages Samsung have are not enough when Google gets their hardware on the same level there will be no reason to buy Samsung anymore especially if you are in America. Pixel 9 just looks professional.
So Niche AI features over quality of life features?
Pixel is a great phone and better than S24 ultra as Pixel has Slower storage, less baseline storage, reflective screen, one less camera, unnecessary temperature sensor instead of depth sensor, only 1 year AI advance , poor camera (check other vloggers), less zoom capabilities, weaker chip set (check comparisons), no Spen (even if you take selfie you can use pen to click), using older back glass, no titanium .....
Good points!..😂😂😂😂👍
How do you crossplatform pictures and videos with your Mac and Samsung/Pixel? Im considering the S24U myself, but it's hard to get out of the tall walled garden of Apple!
I think most of what you get from apples ecosystem is easy file transfer and seamless connections between several devices.
If you're looking to switch, start with using alternative software that achieve the same benefits as apple Even if they're a bit less convenient.
Then slowly make the switch from one device to the next over the years.
Why fix it , if it’s not broken. Stick with Apple 🍎 its ecosystem is impeccable

I would definitely consider a Motorola phone as a backup phone for sure as I absolutely love the shake and rattle flashlight and camera feature that they have patented on their devices... If Motorola made just 3 or 4 phone's ranging from low, mid, high, and hi-end flagship specs I would be stoked but they opt for selling numerous different crappy budget phone's with not enough updates! Motorola makes their money making CB radio's and ham radio's that's their primary money maker and selling phones is just a side hustle for them! I really wish they made superior phone's because they could some mega beast droid's if they wanted too!!!!
