The poop stains fade away with the sun because the molecules that stain (for adults it's bilirubin, not sure if it's the same for infants) is photosensitive. Sun is great at getting rid of stains and at sterilizing clothes. Not a good deal for the companies that produce sterilizing detergents, so we don't hear about it so often. :)

It is bilirubin in infants as well :) that's part of the reason why jaundiced baby's are given light therapy. Same idea

There are fleece liners too that can be washed. I know a lot of people make them themselves from a cheap blanket but you can find them online pretty easily too. They keep the moisture away from babys bum too so thats a bonus. They need to be rinsed as well but that would save you from having to rinse the entire diaper and all those flaps ☺

Here’s a tip on how to spay those. It’s hard to explain but turn that diaper I wrong side out and let both the flaps hang down. Your hand will only be holding the top front and top back of the diaper while you spray one side and you turn it over and spray the other side. Hope this helps.

Pocket diapers are the best! Very customizable as far as inserts go and much easier for cleaning off the poop. Fleece liners are also awesome. You only have to rinse off the liner instead of the whole diaper and they go in the wash with the rest of the diapers. They also keep their little bum dry so I put one in every diaper. I love using flannel cloth wipes too. I use the diaper or liner to wipe off whatever is stuck on their bum since it gets rinsed off anyway. Then use a couple cloth wipes that have been dampened with water to wipe away the residue that's left.
My 1 month old is currently in disposables and I seriously can't wait to get him into cloth!

BUT, I love the pocket diapers especially when baby poops! With the pocket diaper you just do a quick spray or use the bamboo sheets (I call them drier sheets for bums, because that’s what they remind me of... 😬) slip the insert out throw both parts in the wet bag and wash away 😎 and they come out so clean and soft!! Way more comfy for the babies bottom than the crunchy stiff disposables👍🏼

The little pocket parts would be open side down and if I'm visualizing correctly the top part (poopy part) should? be facing outward? Idk if that makes any sense lol but I think the cleaning process will definitely influence which type of diapers I get.

I'm due in less than 4 weeks and we plan on doing newborn disposable diapers and then I have all pocket cloth diapers. I'm not sure if I'll have to supplement with formula or not so I got the bamboo liners just in case. Spraying out the diapers just looks like a hassle. I think after washing the diapers and then stuffing the liners into them I'll just prep them with the liner ahead of time. I have no clue. I'm just going to see how it goes.

You’ll find a system that works I’m positive. It will seem cumbersome at first but then you’ll get in a groove!! Less than 4 weeks!!! Ahh!!

Formula baby poos are water soluble too! I never had an issue washing it out. I love my pocket diapers!

@@megangarten2115 Really? Everything I've read says formula poo is not water soluble and you have to ride the diapers or use a liner?

@@pronouncedbeauty6352 If the poop is liquid, it's fine to run through the washer. We didn't need anything extra for our formula fed baby, not even stripping the fabric. If the poop is solid or thick, it should be rinsed off no matter what the baby was fed.

Pocket diapers that have two openings, yes. Not pocket diapers that only have an opening at the back like Alvas. Those you need to take the inserts out before washing.

24 for $200?! You got robbed. You could’ve easily gotten at least 40 new diapers for that price on Amazon.

Ok, sweetie, I am NOT trying to be disrespectful, but I still cannot see the benefit of cloth diapers? Is it bc of the expense? I see no benefit, because I do not see the reason why you would WORK this hard to change your baby???

    • @quirkylotus482

People cloth diaper for various reasons. Some babies are sensitive or allergic to the chemicals in disposal diapers. Other parents want to use more sustainable products. It can also be less expensive over the long run. There's so many diaper types and cleaning methods. I think the diapers she owns are a lot more time consuming to clean than a true all in one diaper or a pocket diaper. I'm personally looking into cloth diapering for both cost and to reduce waste.

For me it's because disposable diapers take HUNDREDS of YEARS to decompose. It's too hard for me to use disposables 24/7 knowing that....
