I came across your channel while searching for cloth diapering. First thing- your content is really good and don’t take too much to get to the point. You speak with honesty, feels like real person is talking. Unlike a lot of youtubers these days show and do everything so glamorized . Thanks for creating these video👏
Your videos are honestly addicting to watch or just to listen to. It helped a lot with my registry and what helped me with my pregnancy and soon to be post pregnancy😊
LOVE these Mom hacks! We used to put the washing basket in the bath and the toys in the washing basket so it was safer and less slippery! Love a good hack! :)
Thanks so much for all your mommy videos. I’m pregnant with my first baby and am overwhelmed with everything. Your videos definitely help me calm down and focus on what I actually may need! :)
It’s the same for my stokke nuna and also I didn’t know and kept my baby in there until 14 lbs because I thought they meant the low weight pillow is to be taken out at 11 lbs lol
Sleep cues are huge! We didn’t know about awake windows and our baby was sooo overtired. Now we watch for them, put baby down for a nap... and he sleeps! It’s amazing. Lol!
7 & 1/2 years between kids, a lot had changed to say the least! I never knew that was why the top of the onesie was like that,I always thought it was like that to help keep poop from diaper blowouts more contained as you get them out of it. With both of mine, I've been able to get back to adult activities 2 weeks pp, but also unfortunately make small babies. The only weird thing I had this time was acne after my youngest was born 9 weeks ago. He was in the NICU for 3 weeks, so bottles aren't an issue for us for him to take thankfully. My husband loves to feed him, I just have to pump in the middle of the night if I manage to wake up.
Thank you so much for these videos I love how you never sugar coat anything haha, it's very helpful! Also botulism is an illness cause by a specific type of bacteria.. the spores can be in raw honey. Adult bodies can handle the spores but babies will get sick! That's why no honey for babies.
I just found your channel based on a “you might also like” because I’ve watched Jess Hovers channel for a long time Can now confirm I am a subscriber already
This was actually really helpful. Due in little more than 2 weeks and it was such a dense summary of little tips I've picked up here and there so far, plus several new bits I didn't know about! Thank you!
I learned early in I hated the zip up sleepers. My favorite are the carters sleep and play with snaps. The zip ones feel more snug and I have large babies, it’s harder to check for a dirty diaper, I felt like I was breaking their legs to get out of the zip, and you have to almost undress them completely to change a diaper. With the snaps you just undo the legs and their whole torso stays covered and warm, you can unsnap the crocs easy and check for pre or poop easily.
Ommgg I love watching your videos. I'm super emotional today.. why idk (pregnancy hormones) I'm super irritable and just ready to cry and I needed a good laugh. Your so funny and cute in your vids. Makes it super fun to watch!
Omg thank you for taking the time to write this!! Haha I’m glad I could provide some laughs to break through the hormonal emotions that are allll too realll
Extra tip with the hair around fingers. This happened to my older brother as a baby so I was super cautious with my son but hair can get wrapped around the boys little pee pee too and cut off circulation. Just side note to boy moms. Watch those loose hairs
I’ve got 3 kids. Super unpopular opinion, I hate zip up sleepers. I prefer the button up ones. Though even better is gowns! They are the best thing ever! My favorite gowns are the Touched by Nature ones.
Very helpful video. I commented before I finished and kept adding to it. Let's try this again. Carseat thing..thanjs for sharing had no idea. Yes check for hair! The struggle is real. Yes to the breastmilk cure all. Yes to a changing/pumping/feeding station, huge timesaver. The white noise machine never worked for us unfortunately, he prefers we sing which is sweet but you never realize how many songs you know that are not baby appropriate until you do this. I know some people are hardcore no on pacifiers, we were until we weren't. Baby was tongue tied, never latched correctly and he found it stressful. So be fluid in your decision making to an extent. We wanted to exclusively breastfeed, d idnt work so now I pump around the clock still. D idnt want a pacifier but is much easier when they c ant or won't latch. And you are so right...do not get button up onesies..a nightmare especially if baby doesn't sleep well. Ok my novel is done:)
I’m preg 24 week 6 days with my second baby and I am miserable all over again as my belly tighten when I walk ! Says normal at the center went to be check weeks ago started more past month and I been miserable as I have degenerative disc disease so I am more in pain than normal and just wish next 13 weeks would be over with
Had my baby girl 2 weeks ago. I was wondering why the F**** I was sweating like crazy at night, like a freaking waterfall! and smelling sooo bad just a few minutes after my shower! I never EVER smelled this bad in my entire life and it's so strong omg! I don't even recognize my own smell. I feel disgusting 😭 so thank you for mentioning it in your vid', thank you so much!
Make sure to check your car seat manual for weight recommendations 😊 also zippers are gold 🙌 my personal advice is to have an online (Google drive, Amazon photos, Dropbox, Shutterfly, etc), physical (jump drives, hard drives, etc), and folder on your computer for pictures. That way, you know it’s somewhere.
Haha, every parent is unique. I actually hate zipper sleepers because when I fostered a toddler he'd frequently have midnight wet diaper and zipper sleepers meant I had to yank a whole leg out of his sleeper in order to change his diaper. Of course he woke up. So then I switched to snaps and I was so much more happy just unsnapping the bottom half of it and leaving him asleep for the whole thing.
Love this. Mom of a 5 month old and I resonate with nearly all of this. That said, the CDC updated their recommendations on warm and cold breastmilk. I'm sure you know now, but I wanted to leave this here for other viewers :)
PSA: CDC has updated their guidelines for breastmilk storage. It is now safe to combine warm and cold breastmilk. Medela has the link to the CDC article on their website.
2 things to add: one, they make something called Zippiejams now that have one zipper from leg to neck but then a separate zipper that goes between the legs and is absolute perfection for diaper changes. And two, a lot of people don't know this but your insurance doesn't just pay for a breast pump, it actually also usually pays for monthly replacement parts for your pump. You can get a whole new set of pump parts every single month for free through your insurance because washing pump parts isn't super effective and there's a chance for bacteria to grow so they cover replacement parts so everything stays clean. Please spread the word!
Was able to choose between many pumps including a spectra2 or motif luna through insurance. Some even came with pump bags or coolers and extra parts like milk bags and pads. Mine also covered a compression waist and socks! My feet were so swollen they felt ready to burst through the skin.
My daughter when she was born she did take a bottle at first cause i would pump and give it to her in a bottle since my milk supply wasnt fully in. after 2 weeks she refused the bottle. And only wanted to nurse.
I learned about the hair around the fingers the hard way. The hair was wrapped so tight that it was cutting into his skin. Now I check his body for wrapped hair.
The big problem with the double zipper is when the baby has a blowout, and you don’t know it, you have to re-dress them in the poop to get them out of the onesie. Happened 2x to me. Once at the airport...ya it was fun. Great tips though. I enjoy your channel.
Thank you for the carseat insert info. Had no idea. Maybe one reason my baby gets frustrated in her seat now where she didn't before . Currently 11 pounds 🤣
Just looked. Mine actually talks about the strap slot height and not the babys weight. But still never would have thought about it. Thank you for the information
just wondering if you plan on doing a video on vaccines? i’m cutting pregnant and at such a loss with the ones that they recommend while pregnant and for after when baby gets here..
I would personally tell you went I think from my educated research and as the daughter of a doctor. But as shayla a UA-camr. I don’t think she would do that. She would get POTENTIALLY ripped apart ans possible “canceled” if anyone disagrees with her. That is a huge sensitive topic.
Space out vaccines. I know you typed this 8 months ago but like I said as a daughter of a dr. It doesn’t make sense to fill your child is all these vaccines at once even tho their immune system is strong. Two at a time. Space them out. Ask for a delayed vaccine plan and usually pediatric nurses understand and are ok with this. As far as What ones? I will tell you that privately
I swear every time I zip a onsie from the bottom up my baby would get poop on it.... and then I'd have to put him back in it to zip it down from the top to get him out of it 🤦♀️ So now I just zip from the top down. Better to be cold than dirty 😅
You dont need to pump and dump or delay feeds when you drink, only thing you shouldn't do is bed share after drinking 😊 and no need for vitamin d drops when you use formula as it's already fortified. I came across those open bottom 10000 popper onesies today..never again
Shayla, did you research the susher? White noise made me nervous because I read some things about hearing loss due to repetitive noises at the same decibel.
Girl ♥️♥️♥️♥️🤣 this is so amazing I feel like you were just pregnant 45 minutes ago !! But I NEEDED to recognize "I used to squirt it right in there....right from the tap" 1. Amazing 🤣 2. The scene from neighbors where seth Rogan has to "milk" her is all that came to mind
My daughter is 32 weeks. She thinks it hilarious that for her and her brother I got a steak dinner with wine, courtesy of the hospital. No pumping and dumping back then. 😊 They turned out okay.😅
I hate zipper sleepers. I feel like they are so much worse than anything else. I got a ton of them because I thought I would love them but I feel like they make things harder for me than anything else. lol
Girly I introduced a bottle at day one, still 6 weeks later my kiddo still started refusing a bottle she prefers the boob too so definitely could've still happened. They want what they want, ya know? lol. My daughter's almost 11 months and sadly I do not see weaning in our near future, lol. I mean it's fine, whatever but if I had my preference I'd wean her close to 12 months but I'm a SAHM so not the end of the world if my daughter needs more time, it's doable.
Double zippers are great until it’s the middle of the night and your changing your LO and then they decide to pee everywhere and then you have to shove his legs back in zip it back down and zip the other way to change him 😅
My son wouldn't take a bottle either. He also ended up refusing a pacifier after a few months 🤦🏾♀️. He loves the boob 😆. Not sure how I'm ever going to wean him.
So I have a 3 week old baby boy and my experience with zippers is a little different than yours. Basically with boys there are many times where he pees while I’m changing him and then I end up having to change his clothes because he gets them all wet. I like the ones that open from the bottom but the double zipper makes this very difficult because when it’s half open you can’t get the outfit off easily. The ones that just zip down from the top end up being easier for boys.
I really appreciate your videos btw, so informative and helpful! This is my first baby. I had a really positive Hypnobabies birth experience. I was so happy with how it went even though it’s never 100% as planned :) I’m also looking into using cloth diapers once my baby gets a little older and possibly using elimination communication too, so I’d love to see more videos about how that’s going for you.
Top tip I read somewhere... use a baby wipe to wipe baby boys exposed skin under belly button (above the diaper) like 2-3 times and wait a few seconds before you remove the diaper. It makes them pee so you can catch it in the diaper before you take it off! Seems to work but we have no idea why 🤷🏽♀️
@@alisonford8790 What a handy trick, thank you! I'll remember that. I wonder if it puts light pressure on their bladder? Or another thought I had is that maybe there's a connection between the exposure to a cooler temp -- so instead of letting the cool-temp trigger be the removal of the diaper, you give them a cool feeling on their tummy first, wait for the pee, then it's over and you can remove the diaper! Pretty fascinating!
Same! I've watched enough scary movies to know that ladies always get got while they're in the shower. I'm not a dumb dumb. I also always check behind the shower curtain when I go into the restroom because duh, thats where the bad guys hide! 🤣 Oh boy. I wish I was kidding. I'm not. I'm extremely hypervigilant. 🤦🏼♀️
@@KindraShalynnHaimberger 😂yes! My ex boyfriend used to have a dark forest green opaque one and one day he snuck in and turned the lights out on me 😲 Terrifying and I always use clear ones now.
You're my favorite best friend who doesn't know me but who loves you dearly. Just wanted you to know that. Totes not a creeper, but like, also kind of a creeper, but like, in a good way. You know, the kind of friend who will cover your car in sticky notes as a prank. Kind of creepy but also totally harmless. Just a goofball creeper. 🤣

As someone who has had their baby a year ago, I definitely would recommend shayla to a new mommy. She rocks.
The 11lb infant insert removal is specific to the Chicco Keyfit 30. Other brands may be different, so read the manual!! :)
Very true!
It’s the same for my stokke nuna and also I didn’t know and kept my baby in there until 14 lbs because I thought they meant the low weight pillow is to be taken out at 11 lbs lol

I learned about the hair around the fingers the hard way. The hair was wrapped so tight that it was cutting into his skin. Now I check his body for wrapped hair.

Baby does not need synthetic vitamin d
I’ve always used a clear shower curtain even before having my baby because it freaks me out
You two, this is amazing
@@ashleybeazley I can see why he is now your ex-boyfriend and not still your boyfriend. What kind of psychopath does that? 😉🤣
@@KindraShalynnHaimberger haha yeah he was something else. He just got out of jail 🤪
Haha I’m happily married now with a 17 month old.
My sons are 10 and 12 years old. Why am I watching this🤪😘
You're my favorite best friend who doesn't know me but who loves you dearly. Just wanted you to know that. Totes not a creeper, but like, also kind of a creeper, but like, in a good way. You know, the kind of friend who will cover your car in sticky notes as a prank. Kind of creepy but also totally harmless. Just a goofball creeper. 🤣
