Great review, I couldn’t find any reviews of Knox product’s from an everyday person other than companies selling Knox so that was awesome to here is from you.
I think it's quite impossible to avoid perspiring in Malaysia's tropical heat. It's not just the temperature but the humidity. I sweat just standing in t-shirt and shorts. So I guess no matter how much air it flows you are going to feel the heat once you come to a stop in traffic.
The wife and I both own this jacket….needless to say she looks better in it then I do…but we both love it…it could be a little longer in body length. I like the tightness because it holds everything right where it needs to be. This is the best summer jacket I’ve ever owned and worth the price for sure. About to get the pants
It does say "full back protector" on their website. Your smaller one is called a "central back" protector. Wearing a full back protector is akin to wearing a backpack, but with even lesser airflow as good backpacks have 3D mesh on the back. Good riding jackets normally use 3D mesh to partially alleviate this issue.
A hot day in UK is very different to your country Malaysia. Knox is a UK based company so I expect they designed it for UK and European summers which would be 90 percent of their market
Good info here. There aren't many 'real person' reviews on this jacket. I need to slim down my waist to fit into it, I think :D. I'd have liked more variety in the shots of the jacket rather than just seeing it on the hanger. I'm not sure there's much we can do if we live anywhere that has super hot temps in summer, they have it easy on that score in the UK. Anyway, stay safe!
Summer time in the UK can often get to temperatures in the high 30s Celsius with humidity levels in the high 90s. I know there are some parts of the world where temperatures into the 50s aren't uncommon but they don't tend to come with the humidity as well. The humidity is absolutely unbearable and it makes it pretty much impossible to cool down. Also doesn't help that our buildings here actually tend to be designed to trap heat in and insulate plus they don't have air con. And it doesn't rain all the time like people say. In fact, I live in the most dry part of the UK and we can often have serious droughts every single year in this region. Wild fires also aren't uncommon during summer where I am as well. But there are other regions of the UK where they get the exact opposite problem where flash floods can hit them.
Love it! I keep myself fit and trim. I like gear that looks good and is safe with good technology. Too much bulk. You want to be able to move and be comfortable. Great review. Thank you.
I've had the same jacket for just over 2 years. I fully agree with the review. Great product, quality finish etc. but if the summer is hot (I am in the UK, so it doesn't go above 25 degrees too often) my back sweats significantly. There is no breathability at the back due to large protector and fabric at the whole back side. When you take it off you have a big wet patch on your back...
I own one and the reviewer is being unreasonable here to try and get views... by comparrison this jacket flows more air than a normal jacket is it like wesring a tshirt no but the balance between saftey and airflow is great
any riders compare Mk2 to Shima open air mesh jacket ?( in terms of heat related issue), nomatter how good is your protection do remember the major reason of bikers accident started with heat related factors causing you miss orientated that's lead to an accident (in humid and hot climate area especially Malaysia and Thailand), i am quite interested in mk2/3 also consider Shima open air, which one should i go?
Very good review, mate. I think the pros outweigh the cons with this one. Let's be honest, as bikers pretty much every single decision that we ever make is going to have to be some kind of compromise. Something that car drivers simply just don't have to deal with in the same way. But in the case of this shirt, I really feel like the protection and versatility are completely worth it for the sake of having somewhat less comfortable armour. And for me personally, a balance of those two things is really what I am looking for more than anything else. But based on what you say about this shirt not having the best airflow, I think I may possibly lean towards a slightly larger size so thanks a lot for mentioning that. Yeah, this is a great video overall. Hope you're doing well :)
Thanks for the feedback bro, if u can best to try it on for size before purchasing . From there u can make an informed decision before buying. Ride on brother 🏍️💨
You started the video by saying its not the best summer jacket and pointed out some cons yet you didn't state what the best is or is there enything better that this one let alone how knoxx can make the next iteration better. You didn't even state what the best means to you makes the video feel pointless
This jacket is part of knox seasonless collection meaning that it can be used for riding in 4 seasons. Sweating is your bodies way of coolng you down and when moving the jacket will do this. This jacket is supposed to be form fitting to stop the armour moving in the event of a slide down the road. Advising people to go a size up is detrimental to the design and will allow the armour to move. The back protector is full length and protects your full spine which is far superior to most other items available. The primary role of the jacket is protection which I believe it fulfills. No jacket is going to keep you cool at a standstill in 40c heat.
yes but is just something to note, it depends also on your shape shoulder width etc, I was thinking as well to get a size up, if it moves of course better not, but if you are on on the edge between sizes probably doesn't make much difference in terms of protection shifting with the stretch material? the tighter the more secure but also being comfortable and concentrated is important for the security, and if you do dual sport with some slow offroad is something to consider, also to decide to not buy it, btw they mention to get a size up on some reviews video
@@daviargeagreed. Go up a size otherwise it'll pinch and feel uncomfortable under the arms if too small. There is a fine balance. The mark 3 vest is better fitting with less pinching under the arms and forearms for ME and my shape. Also has the new micro lock soft armour in shoulders and elbows.
@@daviarge if it doesnt fit you then you should not be buying it. There is a lot of good quality gear that just doesnt fit me for different reasons. I find for example that alpinestars and Held gloves fit my wide palm and short fingers better than Spidi or Revit do. The best gear has to fit you and be fit for purpose. No point in carrying an armored shirt where the protectors can just slide out of the way due to generous sizing
Hi Will, I can't comment on going a size larger in terms of fitting but another option is using a slimmer profile back protector. I have since removed the huge Knox back protector and used the ForceField Pro Lite K Back Insert Size 007 from my old Dainese jacket and it does improve airflow and this is my setup for riding to work and back. Hope this helps
I am from India and was keen on this but now I'll go for adventure spec supershirt cause I'll be able to wear it directly next to my skin and cover it with a thin half sleeves or sleeveless t shirt to hide my beer belly😄.. I have another option on my mind which is the klim baja s4... Let's see... Good review bro...
There's no way to stay cool while driving slowly in the tropics. I commuted in Saigon and sweat whatever I wore. Even just in a dress shirt. If you can move at decent speed then there are lots of options. I'm safety minded and I prefer perforated leather and kevlar lined jeans. This works fine as long as you are moving constantly. I rode in this combination in 34C and 80% humidity in Southern Vietnam's summer. Stop moving and it's sweaty time in any clothes.
Great review. Dude: Malaysia. The only way you will be cool on a bike is by riding it into a pool of ice water. Everything else is a balance between protection and your tolerance for it. I live in Tokyo…summers are brutal in Japan. Just gotta sweat or ride in the car. No amount of mesh will fix that.
I like this jacket for summer riding especially in Spain & Croatia where it is over 25c - bit annoyed they brought out the version with pockets about a week after I bought it - lack of pockets is really a problem. The back protector is quite heavy and drags at the material. I’ll likely buy an air vest and remove the back protector to lighten the jacket.
For me, what spoiled this jacket were little details that matter for comfort. The hems at wrists and neck rub quite uncomfortably and should have been made for more comfort, especially at the neck. Other than that it’s a great jacket as long as you don’t come off in gravel as that can penetrate the large mesh openings on this jacket. For me, the Klim Marrakesh beats it. It’s more comfortable, more stylish and is rated the same for protection. Rev-it also do a decent alternative.
To those who are watching, ignore his recommendation to get one size larger. The armour on your elbows flops around and will not stay in place as the arms will be too loose. That is a bad recommendation.
No it doesn't, I have tried both the Medium and the Large. If it was a medium vs an extra large I would agree to your statement. Cheers and ride on ❣️🏍️💨
@@br8dzilla I tried the Large and XL sizes. It does move around with the slightest push. So I am pretty sure that it will dislodge on the tiniest of crashes. So I will still say it is a bad recommendation.
@@tomford5495 yes it's a tight fit but still flexible, use the base layers and it does not help to circulate air. Again in Malaysia it's very humid and hot. I am sure at cooler dyer countries, you wouldn't have the sweaty problem . Cheers
