    Just bought the urbane pro mark 3. Yet to try it as a jacket on its own but essentially that’s why I’ve bought it for warmer weather including a trip to Spain in the summer. Love the idea I can just throw a normal huddy for a bit of extra warmth over the mk3 and know I m fully protected. Also you mentioned Sportsbikeshop. They were brilliant at getting my sizing correct. I was going to go for a medium but they advised me to go for the small. Much better and the armour does nt move. Also love the fact that you get a FULL length back protector included. I will be purchasing the chest protector as well. Having gone from a one piece leather suit on a Sportsbike I feel just as protected with the jacket on my new naked bike. Thanks for the informative video. All makes sense.

    This was the best explanation I have seen. I purchased the Urbane Pro MK2 a few months back and absolutely love it. I couldnt decide between the Action Pro or the Urbane pro and now I'm glad I got the Urbane Pro. I have worn it under my AlpineStar Andes jacket in cold weather without any problems at all but spend most of time in a hot humid climate and go with just a base layer under it. Awsome explanation of Knox gear.

    Completely agree on the way you can now layer whatever you like or want with the Knox. I have the urbane mk1 and now where that under my Richa laminated textile, with the armour removed and the same with my Richa leather. Similar to the Knox Action Shirt Mk2 but slightly less expensive are the Icon Field Compression Shirt and Pant (using thin and flat segmented D30 with kevlar cover). Though the Icon shirt needs to be worn under a shirt as it is not as presentable as the Knox on its own but it does allow maximum airflow in California summers. The Icon pant can be worn underneath any non-motorcycle pants. Thanks @yodomcat for putting out great content!

    • @mranvo
      @mranvo Рік тому +1

      @@yodomcat It might be a wash actually. The Icon shirt is principally see-through mesh except for the D30/kevlar patches which can be quite "techy"/motocross looking hence my preference to layer over it with a normal shirt or jumper or jacket, or in my case, a more classic 1960s vibe long sleeve mesh motocross shirt. But, living close to Venice Beach, a see-through mesh shirt might not be so out of place. 😆

    I have 2 urbane pro mk2 shirts one I use for off road (utility). They're great pieces of kit and flow great air. I have found they work great upto 30c but after that they get too warm here in Oz during summer although nothing will keep you cool in summer here. I use both in the winter and just layer up when it gets cold. You need to review the urbane pro mk3 which is AAA rated.

    • @yodomcat

      I think anything above 35° you need a cooling vest. The mark 3 is still AA it just has the newer slimmer armour which is amazing, though I would say not worth upgrading a MK2 from unless you do use it under jackets (I wear mine stand alone). It is the Honister that is AAA 👍🏻

I went for the action pro top and bottoms, the top is fantastic for around town and until they release the microlock compack urbane pro - the armour is much better fitting on the action. Any ideas what the difference is in 'arm hole' size on the Mk3?

    You are using the d3o ghost the wrong way around though. It actually fits better if you put it in the right way round (very easy to think the orange should be the outer part, but it is actually the black mesh that is meant to aid in abrasion as well). I agree with most of your statements but saying that the Urbane Pro is the best mesh jacket on the market is just wrong. There are plenty of adventure jackets such the Klim Induction, Klim Marakesh, Rukka Stretchair, etc. that are superior to this one. I have owned the Knox Urbane Pro jacket and now I wear Rukka instead. Much better comfort and protection. Also the Knox layering system is wrong. You want to put a windbreaker underneath your jacket to stay as warm as possible in winter and have space inside the jacket to have good air flow in summer.

    • @yodomcat
      @yodomcat  Рік тому +2

      For me it is the best mesh jacket for street riding due to the dual purpose of also being an under armour. If comparing as a sole jacket then really the Knox Hollistor Jacket should be the comparison. The Hollister has a better safety rating and half the price of the Rukka and Klim options. But it’s all personal preference at the end of the day.
      On the layering system I often use a windbreaker underneath like you say - it’s my emergency backup under my seat and has save me on many occasion where the weather has turned! On colder days however it’s not man enough, and I would opt for a mid or outer layer that has wind proof properties.

    • @narubi9

    Just wanna make some points. The MPH figures you're giving aren't quite accurate. CE has dropped those figures since due to it not painting the full picture. When they test any motorcycle abrasion product, they test it at one spot at a time at a certain pressure at a certain grit. In the real world that's usually not the case. You're usually not sliding on one specific spot as you're dispersing force throughout your whole body. So ratings for 3s at 30mph is inaccurate unless you slide on just your elbow with the force of your whole body for example. Even then, if you're sliding on a spot with armor, that now increases your slide time and if you're on underdeveloped roads it may decrease it.

    • @yodomcat
      @yodomcat  Рік тому +1

      It is such a confusing and minefield subject. Which no one can truly answer as not all crashes are the same. For me:
      A = 30mph and below average speeds
      AA = 50mph average with some blips
      AAA = Better than AA, but still not a race suit.
      LEATHER RACE SUIT (AA or AAA - as some only get AA as the material used in a place you will never slide isn’t high enough) for when you want to push it and see higher speeds.
      The biggest issue I see is when people wear more protective gear and feel they’re invincible; anyone coming to an abrupt stop from 100mph should put more faith in religion than CE ratings as your life is in the hands of the gods.

    I find the Urbane too tight around the neck and arms, I wish they made proper adventure suits and not the sort of clothing you wear on your Sunday morning trip to a coffee shop. To me they seem more interested in looking like fashion clothing over function. I agree with you over the latest ghost armour though, there’s no shape to the stuff. Try the Klim Marrakesh, far more comfortable but floppy ghost armour.😕

    • @yodomcat
      @yodomcat  Рік тому +1

      I’d say you need to size up, I had an urbane pinch a little under my arms (fitted everywhere else great) but sizing up was great, still tight to keep the armour where it’s needed.
      On the adventure suit; I hear you, remember they are an armour company. A small sideline pivot into gloves a while ago then clothes only came with the studio collection (and that was a small line up). I think they’re doing it just right; any more and they’ll have to grow the business too much. What I’ve seen with Knox is they find one or two products and then develop the hell out of them. It’s why the urbane is now Mk3 👍🏻
