    Additional TIP: use boiled water, the boiling process releases the dissolved oxygen allowing for more CO2 to be dissolved in. Try boiling water then refrigerating overnight before adding to the bottle.

      Yes, but its not carbonation only. If you buy Alka Seltzer tablets or Eno's Fruit Salts, they will sparkle and create fizzy water.
      Alka-Seltzer contains three active ingredients: aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) (ASA), sodium bicarbonate, and anhydrous citric acid. The aspirin is a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory, the sodium bicarbonate is an antacid, and the citric acid reacts with the sodium bicarbonate and water to form effervescence.
      Fruit salt or fruit salts is a term for effervescent compounds made up of organic acids such as citric acid or tartaric acid and salts such as sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, or sodium bitartrate in combination with added flavoring and sugar.
      In short, if you mix baking soda with citric acid (baking or herb section in stores, or Vit C powder from Trader Joes), you will have fizzy water. This also makes a great antacid formula. However, chemically it is different from Co2 fizzy water which has no taste.

    Although this doesn't affect the functionality of making the soda more bubbly, there seems to be a missing step in the explanation, which is explaining why making water colder increases the dissolving of carbon dioxide into it.

    Shaking will separate Gas and whater, just like doing the same thing to a regular bottle of water. As a conclusion you will just have tu wait longer before using the syphon. Makes no sense at all. Despite of that, cooling the water will work.

    • @lass-inangeles7564
      @lass-inangeles7564 5 років тому +6

      Shaking is part of this process. I checked with another manufacturer. Shaking is mandated if you want it to work.

    • @oliviermatan8832
      @oliviermatan8832 4 роки тому +7

      Well actually you're both right and wrong:
      - bottled carbonated water has more gas content in the bottle than in the gas above it. This is because CO2 escapes so slowly from the water to the gas (when left still), that gas then has enough time to de-pressurize through the gap between the cap and the bottle, even if tiny. Therefore, if you shake, you will suddenly re-establish equilibrium, and yes, CO2 will escape to the gas above the water, pressurize the whole bottle, and hence the "agitated cola bottle that sprays you upon opening"
      - but in the Seltzer bottle, the CO2 content in the gas above the water is higher than the CO2 content in the water. Therefore, if you shake, you re-establish equilibrium, but this time, it will be the excess gas that will go into the water, because there is so much CO2 from the cartridge, in the gas above the water. Hence the recommendation to shake, and shake for a long time. To give you an idea, in 10 seconds, if you don't shake, CO2 will penetrate to a depth of 0.1 mm in water. After 1000 seconds (or 16 minutes), it will be 1 mm. It's a square law: the square of the penetration depth is equal to a constant (the diffusion constant) multiplied by time. But if you shake, you help the CO2 diffuse much, much faster into the liquid.
      By the way here are the diffusion coefficients of gases in water, that you need to get that statistic: www.engineeringtoolbox.com/diffusion-coefficients-d_1404.html

    1. NEVER ADD MUSIC TO ANY COOKING, DEMO, DIY, TOUR, OR ANIMAL VIDEO. GOLDEN RULE. HURTS THE EARS.
    2. Drinking C02 water is the best thing you can do for your health. It should be made at home, not bought.
    3. Drinking any colas or canned soda from the store is very bad for your health. This contains phosphoric acid which gives tartness and is a preservative. Colas also contain caffeine, sugar, salt, dyes, chemicals - all very bad for you. Phosphoric acid will contribute to osteoporosis. Caffeine will block absorption of nutrients like minerals and vitamins. Salt hardens your arteries. Sugar is the most poisonous thing you can ingest - it gums up your metabolism same as a car engine. It is the cause of all metabolic disease such as diabetes, heart disease, belly fat, cancer, stroke, Alzheimer's, Dementia, etc. The dyes and chemicals will disrupt your hormones and damage nerves. Stay away from all commercial sodas, seltzers, colas.
    4. By contrast, home made soda loaded with CO2 is very beneficial to your health. Not only does the gas assist in digestion, constipation, and hydration (you tend to drink more water), but the Carbon Dioxide itself is life giving. CO2 dilates your blood vessels, so you get better circulation, and ironically, helps the CCO enzyme inside your cells absorb more oxygen. So this will boost athletic performance, and increase oxygenation in the entire body. Drink soda!!
    5. Berkey Filters are great at giving you clean water from tap water. They come with black carbon filters, and you can buy the white filters to remove fluoride and arsenic from the water - there is always some of that and both are bad for you. Tastes so good too! Cost is minimal, it sits on your counter and travels with you. Reverse Osmosis by contrast removes all minerals from water, costs a fortune to install, and worst of all, it wastes water in its collection. For every 1 gal of RO water, you waste 5 gals.
