  • In this episode we drive up to Mynydd viewpoint at the western end of the Llyn Peninsula. There are extensive views across to Bardsey Island and along the coast but it is very windy.
    Next stop is Porthor (Whistling Sands) Beach where we enjoy a blowy walk followed by ice cream and chips.
    It’s time to do some laundry so we head into Nefyn then it’s kebabs for dinner and time to enjoy a beautiful sunset.

    Excellent video and photos. Without going into to much detail like you Ken I’m a highly qualified driver, the driving standards in this country are shocking and people get behind the wheel without accepting that it is a skill. Carol don't underestimate your photography they are really lovely photos. Would be nice to see them regularly added to the vlogs. Ken don't stop your tips on driving, when I was learning to ride a motorbike many moons ago a friend of ours was a police motorbike trainer, one tip he give me - if going along a road and a car is waiting to pull out keep your eyes on the wheel trims you'll see them move way before making eye contact with the driver. To this day I still do that. So your tips could well save someone's bacon. Love you choice of music to☺️ Have a great weekend 👍

    I have been dog sitting for the last few days so morning and evening walks with involuntary litter picking, beer bottles /cans, crisp packets, fish and chip boxes ,pizza boxes etc. Would the reintroduction of capital punishment help ? 😀

    • @LifeistooshortCK

    • @MollyGrue1
      @MollyGrue1 3 роки тому +1

      nope they mostly get away with it... always strikes me how un-aware folks are about even the esthetic point: It does not hurt their eyes or heart to see litter everywhere in nature. Its an ugly sight to see cigaret boxes, plastic bags and bottles etc. all over the landscape. It certainly hurts MY senses and makes me angry. its about education - messy and indifferent people never learned better, sadly.
      Thanks for your picking up work - you give a good example and plant some awareness of how nice Nature looks when clean and pure. AND tells me I am not crazy because I do the same if its of any use (some places are way too dirty to even start).

    Hi Ken and Carol, must have just missed you by a day. We went to Anglesey yesterday evening and stayed over, south stack, was quite busy till nine o'clock so we decided to find another venue.
    Thursday Drove down to Black rock sands, through criccieth then on some of the narrowest roads I have ever been on, eventually found the a487 and back to Caernarfon. It rained consistently till four thirty, but I have always been lucky like that!
    You really do find the most out of the ways places. I think I need more tuition! Look forward to the next. Andy.

    Ken, when we were travelling full time here in Oz I too picked up the rubbish left by other inconsiderate people, I used a cheap picker upper thing, so no longer had to bend or wear gloves to collect. Any driving advice is good advice but I get saddened here in Oz with brand new young drivers who still do not know how to correctly navigate a traffic island ! even though they have had compulsory driver training. We have far too many young deaths from traffic accidents involving just the one vehicle and speed too.

    We totally agree with you Ken about the driving. We live down a single track road with some very tricky bends. At this time of year, when the hedges are high and wide, it's extremely tricky. You wouldn't believe though, the number of drivers who just Co tinue to drive blind at high speed. You'd think the numerous skid marks on the road, would highlight the danger areas, but no!

    Ken, thank you for what you did picking up others litters. Not every nomad ( I assumed all vanlifers are ) will do it in these pandemic but I’m glad to see most do it. The motto is “leave the place cleaner than when we arrived”. Don’t know what is on the mind of such litterbugs! However, may I suggest you get a rubbish tong to pick up those litters in future so that you can place directly into a plastic bag and tie it before putting it in your bin which you use in the van too. You only need to disinfect the tong after use. Worst is when you’re picking up used tissues also which I can say it’s the most contaminated if the litterbug carried the virus which you may not know. By wearing a glove you also open the lid of your bin every time you threw the litter into your bin and that process contaminate the lid of your bin which the moment you place the bin back into your van, Carol lift the lid with her bare fingers to throw her rubbish. That is one which most do not see as a way for the virus to transmit.
    Having said that, I’ve enjoyed your videos as it is realistic and truthful while at the same time informative with nice scenery and good photography shots. I’m in SEA but felt I went on the tour with you always.

    Waste tanks of big camper vans: Its all in the dark and you can empty it often enough. Darkness = less bakteria growth. So it stays quite "clean". Also the fresh water tank: You can put in some silver stuff to keep it bacteria free but also keeping it dark helps a lot. Never had problems and you boil the water anyway not drinking it from the tub.

    a) Care not Kenneth for those who can't detect you're a sound motorist.
    b) Coast guard huts are interesting. At least whoever was stationed there got a good view. Great to see history preserved.
    c) Bread is full of sugar. And yes, it burns easily. A friend of mine who was in charge of cookery at an establishment taught me about the sugar in bread burning.
    Today, our foods are full of preservatives, chemicals, salts of various kinds and sugars. All to make us addicted.
    What evil bastard decided that bread, a carbohydrate should have more carbs (sugar) added to it ? Make your own bread I say.
    d) As for picking up rubbish - It's an endless task. It's careless folk who let foxes and dogs steal bags of rubbish that is the cause. The wind does the rest.

    Don't feel bad about giving driving advice as well as my civilian instructor my late father (a serving police officer at the time) gave me lessons and in over thirty seven years I am amazed at how standards are dropping even supposed instructors, the three point turn on the hill would scare a lot of new driver's have you checked in the reversing camera settings for the guide markers the red section gives ample warning preventing backing into things.
    I really enjoy watching your videos when you show the scenery sadly some of the roads you can go down are too narrow for my vehicle and some of the bends very tight.
    A piece of kit I found which might help you when parking up for the night is an incline meter basically a two way spirit level showing side and front to back angles

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  2 роки тому

      I keep saying we need an inclinometer. I am going to experiment using an iPhone app I think ur reversing camera is pretty useless to be honest but I have become quite used to reversing without it. One day I might treat myself to a proper one 👍

    • @OldBaron5664
      @OldBaron5664 2 роки тому

      I recommend putting the after market reversing camera high up on the vehicle I have driven some loan vehicle's with cameras fitted so low they get filthy so you have to get out and clean them before use, you say that there is no TPMS fitted Amazon sell after market unit's.
      The unit fitted as standard on my vehicle is brilliant the 9.5 inch screen helps the only issue I have is at 6.5ft wide mirror to mirror the camera only helps so far.

    Hi Carol and Ken,
    Your vlogs are very enjoyable, we have always watched them and find them very relaxing. Beautiful scenery, great photography and interesting facts. Your driving tips seem to be very well received, I've been reading through your comments. I certainly find the tips good. I can see this being a regular thing for you to do (I hope). My biggest bugbear is tailgaters, I get so annoyed at them. I usually pull in and let them overtake at the earliest opportunity, I'd rather have them in front of me than behind. Is there a correct thing to do when you're being tailgated? Keep making these wonderful vlogs, it's lovely following you around the country, so many interesting, beautiful places and of course seeing you both enjoy your travels.
    Ian and Angie.

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  3 роки тому

      Hi Ian. Tailgating is very common these days and one of the biggest causes of accidents after speed. They tailgate because you are not going fast enough. My initial tactic is to maintain my chosen speed until a suitable place for them to overtake then I slow down a bit so its very easy to pass. If they are an idiot then pulling over is the only thing to do. Once a tailgater has passed be on the lookout for an accident up ahead as they tend to make poor decisions. 👍. As you clearly know, never speed up for a tailgater.
