    Hey Buildzoid! This is kind of blowing my mind right now but I'm the eBay seller that you bought this from! I subscribed to your channel mainly for the GPU PCB breakdowns, but when I randomly came across this video in my subscriptions list today with the same CPU in the title, I freaked out progressively as I recognised my board and cooler then continued watching your intro and you described exactly the eBay listing I sold. Congrats on the validation, I'm amazed and I had no idea it was such a beast of a CPU. This board has been the basis of my first gaming PC which I've used for the last 9 years, and I upgraded to the FX-6300 in about 2017. I reluctantly sold this bundle on since I finally switched to a mATX Ryzen build recently (the full ATX board was way more than I need). Sorry about the dust, 15 year old me was rubbish at fan placement! I didn't have a can of compressed air to hand either to clean it up before I sent it. Super interesting video, man! I've not delved far into overclocking CPUs, but you've piqued my interest now. Good luck with the liquid nitrogen!

    Love the BIOS on my X79 fatal1ty champion. One feature I've never seen on another board is that it somehow applies the CPU clock right before it boots into an OS. Meaning that you can set any clock you want and if it's unstable just go to the BIOS and change it back, no CMOS clear needed.

    My FX build was the most fun I had, bought an 8320 in 2014 as a stopgap waiting for amd competition, it was sold at i3 prices at the time and was intended to be used undervolted, i ended up using it for 7 years, overclocked up to 5 GHz, on a 6 phase mobo, with a 500W power supply I had bought in 2011 😂

    I had one of these with one of the early 8350s. Used it to mine and saw smoke on a few occasions but nothing ever seemed to die. I got it for a steal with full corsair case, psu, ram, cpu all for like $350 back in 2013. Had a great clocking i5 3570k at time with maximus v gene(swear it was one of my best boards for OC) so I really didn't care about the 8350 though it did 5ghz no problem.

    I always avoided ASRock as a platform for AM3+ for several reasons but the biggest is in my case, I simply didn't want to chance it vs the results I always seemed to get with my Crosshair boards.
    Some may say it as "Sticking with what works for you" and that's how it's been for me along the way - Not that I can complain either since I did do the 8.3GHz+ 1M Super PI run (Covered in OC Round up vid #2) with a Crosshair V-Z and a few other runs with a Sabertooth 3.0 that turned out well too.
    Speaking of that board model (Sabertooth 3.0), great platform to work with for AM3+ and you've seen the results mine has given before but I know it's a hard to find model. Maybe one day (If not already) you'll find one and get a chance to try it.
    Good stuff as always here.

    Thanks a lot for the video and information. Actually this is the heatsink I was using also with my FX 6300 and I swear my FX 6300's temp which runs at 4.3 GHz was shown between 18 - 25 C in AIDA64. Not quite sure it is correct but that was amazing. And this heatsink was really cheap. Didn't know I will manage to get this kind of performance. Also I want to try some overclock with this CPU but my Gigabyte 970a-DS3 literally died. Horrible motherboard it was :))

    • @XX-121
      @XX-121 Рік тому

      na, you really have to go by the socket temp on them and you don't want that going over 62c (just like the old athlon's, phenom ii's, etc.) the reported "cpu temp" was never right on those chips because of the way it was done. at the time they weren't using an internal temp sensor on the die and were calculating it in software, for whatever reason? if you use something like HWmonitor there's usually a couple different cpu's or systin temps depending on the mobo but if you run something like Prime95 you'll figure out which one it is pretty quick, it'll be the hottest one.

    • @kutaykendir513
      @kutaykendir513 Рік тому +1

      @@XX-121 Yea, this value doesn't make sense. My point was, there is a rumor about "FX chips run so hot." but its not completely true. Yes of course there is some FX chips which runs hotter and consume way much power but its not all of them. My FX chip handled me well nearly 8 years and I retired it because of the mobo. It was a decent CPU unlike the general misunderstanding. Also this heatsink was awesome and I bet I can be able to use it more if I had a decent 990FX mobo.

    I still have my FX6300 but it is in a GA-78LMT-USB3 Rev:5 😖 as I haven't found a Good 990FX at a reasonable $AUD down here, I know that 990s is the best but do you have any thoughts on if there is are any 'Decent' 970s to keep an eye out for also. Not going for Records like you but would like a nice everyday OC when I rebuild or playing on my testbench.
    While it is not a Full build at the moment it is boxed with all the parts from when it was my gaming PC including Kingston HyperX 2133, Sapphire R9 270X Toxic & Activated W7 OS HDD. If I find a better Mobo or decide to put it in a case 'as is' I'll get an SSD to Migrate the OS.

    hello, for a good CPU support (i7-12700) to the ddr5 that yields a lot in "productivity" (considering the fact of changing ddr5 banks in 1/2/3 years with the model no longer "immature" while maintaining cpu) how can I orient the choice of MOBO to have a good "compatibility" and better optimization between cpu and ddr5? hypothetically especially with ddr5 banks that will come out in the future. (when will I (hopefully) have a net improvement over ddr4 for higher frequencies and lower timings, ex: 8000MHz CL 30). for example i had seen that intel 12 gen to have a significant improvement with ddr5 needs an overclock of the memory controller, for this purpose a mobo bclk would be fine, if you have to pay attention to something in particular? or would it be better to take the model K and a mobo z690 (even if I would go over budget with the cpu)?

I'm not interested in setting world records, but was wondering if I should bother trying to do "normal" overclocking on it? I know from what you have said in the past that having all 4 ram channels full makes overclocking harder, but this is my main system still, and I can't live on only 16GB of ram. Only problem with these boards is ASrock doesn't add thermal pads or heatsink compound to the heats sinks on the chipsets and vrm so they tnd to overheat and in some cases fail. what gave the Fatal1ty boards a bad name.
