This, this video.... You've really helped me realize how beautiful and emotional this series is. From the mysterious boulder, to the lovely forest, to all the character development... This is why I love Thomas and Friends. Thank you for reminding me. Oh, and I always got scared at the quick camera pan in Toby's Discovery, coupled with the music. XD
3:07 omg same! I just love the way the mountains are laid both in the foreground and background and I especially love how the track goes around that castle
Man...what a list! I absolutely love the fact that you look into the episodes in the ways of how it makes us feel emotionally, how and why that episode makes us feel that way; like Rusty and the Boulder & The Duke 2-parter, I was nodding my head so much when you were going over them cause it was all just so true... Oh and er...I'd hate to say this and all, but...I think that was my instrumental of Haunted Henry that you used, and I wasn't given credit for it. I don't care if I wasn't mind you, I just wanted to point out. All in all, AWESOME top 10 list dude, and hope to see more videos like this again! ;)
+NostalgiaDude1998 Oh whoops, my bad haha 😅 I guess when I changed the music around I forgot to credit you in the video. I'll put it in the description! But man, emotional episodes are the best.
Your video is yet another example of a different and unusual opinion but that's a good thing. I hate people who say they are a fan of the TTTE community when all they do is tell people off because their favourite episode isn't on that person's list. We should all have our own opinions, Henry's Forest is my second favourite episode of Series 3 despite that 'Railway law' that caused so many complaints but that doesn't ruin the episode for me. Just like you, I really do feel for Henry and I'm glad when everything works out in the end.
I definitely agree with all of your opinions. Henry's forest is my favorite episode too. I relate to Henry a lot because I have anxiety just like I see he does.
You ever get teary-eyed from the music at the end of Henry's Forest? Coupled with the emotion of the episode, of course. Surprised there weren't many CG eps on the list, but a lot of these are classics, and I share your feelings with a lot, especially 'Toby's Discovery' and 'Thomas and Stepney'.
I cry as an adult watching that episode. As a kid, it was on "Trust Thomas & Other Stories", the last Thomas VHS tape I had ever watched before moving on from the franchise. It wasn't much to me then because when I was younger, I cared most about the crashes, but even as a child, I felt a soft and somber message emanating from this episode. As an adult with more life experience, I much more identify with Henry and his character.
The broken bridge scene in ‘’Special Funnel’’ is one of my favorite scenes ever in T&F. The time laps of the bridge construction is so cool! At least, when I was little,
Here's My Favorite Thomas & Friends Episodes (I'm only listing the U.S. Titles Of The Episodes) 1. Toby's Discovery - I loved the mystery and adventure, when I watched this at a young age, the music was mysterious and creepy, the episode always pulls me in and gets me interested, the mystery really had me guessing the first time I saw it, and the parts at night scared the shit out of me, this episode had everything for me, I felt like I was apart of the mystery, and this episode will always have a special place in my heart no matter how old I get 2. Rusty & The Boulder - Love the action, it's cheap and cheesy, but i love it for that, especially the hilarious shed explosion at the end, this episode even to this day always gives me goosebumps and makes me laugh at the same time, it's the perfect package 3. Pop Goes The Diesel/Diesel's Devious Deed/A Close Shave For Duck - This three part story is always fun for me too watch, and I love how much character Duck & Diesel showed in it 4. Toby & The Flood - Just EPIC, loved it as a kid, and just as much as an adult, the music and action in this gave me goosebumps, it put together amazingly 5. Haunted Henry - Scared me as a child, and for that it will always have a special place in my heart 6. Percy's Ghostly Trick - This episode was creepy, well shot, well acted, it's perfect in pretty much every way 7. Come Out Henry & Henry To The Rescue - This one was a classic for me, I remember trying to track down the VHS Tape that had these episodes, and when I found it, I was not disappointed 8. Thomas & Bertie's Great Race - This is one of the oldest episodes I watched when I was young and it introduced me to Thomas & Bertie's friendly competitions between themselves, it's nostalgic for me 9. Make Someone Happy - It really made me like James when he's a nice engine, it's like he was built up to be an engine who always got into trouble, and for once he thought about someone else's problems, it's like James was built up for some great character development in this episode, the ending always brings a smile to my face 10. Busy Going Backwards - Toad is just ridiculous in this and I love The ending chase it's just action packed 11. Stepney Gets Lost - Spooky as a kid, and Stepney was very interesting in this 12. Double Teething Troubles - Bill & Ben are awesome and hilarious in this 13. Cranky Bugs - One of my oldest episodes that I could never forget, and it was Cranky at his most iconic 14. Mavis & Toby's Tightrope - I always really liked Mavis, and I thought she and Toby had good chemistry when they worked off of each other 15. Donald & Douglas & The Deputation - Donald & Douglas always had the best episodes and this sparked it all 16. Percy's Promise - Another one of the first episodes I watched, and it really made me like Percy 17. The Flying Kipper - Just a classic and I love it for that 18. A Better View For Gordon - Just loved Gordon in this episode, he was so weird and enjoyable 19. The Trouble With Mud - Showed that when Gordon isn't full of himself, he can really be counted on to help out 20. Old Iron - The ending chase between James & Edward was amazing and awesome I loved watching it when I was younger 21. Down The Mine - I liked the friendship it sparked between Thomas & Gordon 22. Heroes - Its just badass especially the ending that was so awesome 23. Duncan Gets Spooked - Also scared me as a child, and really got me interested in Duncan 24. A Big Surprise For Percy - The ending chase with Bertie and Sir Topham Hat catching up to the trucks was EPIC, I always loved that chase scene 25. Lady Hatt's Birthday Party - Sir Topham Hatt never really got time to shine in the series, but this episode gave him a chance and boy did it deliver 26. The Diseasel - Its a Funny and whacky episode, another classic Bill & Ben episode
Henry's forest is my favorite episode too, it just establishes Henry's love for nature and it shows that even though that you're big and tall and tough at the same time you can have a soft side
22:51 I love this episode too. It's not my favourite episode, but it is up there. I love how the episode feels so emotional. Andrew Brenner's way that he wrote this episode can send calm shivers down my spine and to quote you. I love Henry's character here. Because he has emotions as we have.
Did you get the idea to do this from my top 20 episodes? XD but man I couldn't agree with you more on this list! In fact I majorly regret not putting Toby's Discovery on my list too! As for the ring around the Rosie music, I think it's actually a creepy instrumental of "Toby...oh Toby" from Toby's song. AND YES SOMEONE ELSE WAS TRAUMATIZED BY TOBYS SCARED FACE AS WELL!!!! I find it interesting how you find the station light to be the scariest moment when mine was the line and face from Henry afterwords (GGGG-GHOST)
I gotta say, I did get the idea to do one of these from your top 20 video. I'd be wanting to do one for a while, but just seeing yours made we want to get a move on with it. And yeah, you're list is pretty spot on with what I think. God, why is Season 5 just so good?! XD
You've summed up my thoughts on Toby's Tightrope perfectly. Mavis and Toby have become equals in that episode and the former's character development is permanent. I wish we saw them interact again in the CGI era, but we've yet to see it.
Figured I'd share my opinions on this list. 11. I find this episode pretty forgettable, but I may have to consider checking it out and see why it got your nod. You describing the mud Thomas crashed into as "chocolate" did give me a good laugh. 10. I surely remember this episode because it was one of my earliest episodes, coming right after Henry's character development arc in Season 1. The point you mentioned about Toby suffering from modernisation makes this episode that little bit sadder, but it also shows Sodor as a "safe haven" for engines who had to leave their previous railway. 9. I feel this episode doesn't get much attention as far as Season 3 is concerned, especially when you consider the role Mavis had in the episode and how it followed on well from her debut in the previous episode. This episode is why Mavis became the character we now know, and it's good to see you give it that attention. 8. Seeing engines feeling jealous of another is something we've been used to in the series before, like when Gordon was jealous of Henry getting to pull the Express. Here we get a good characterisation of jealousy, as shown with Thomas and his interactions with Stepney. I do really hope Stepney comes back to the series one day, considering how much Brenner has done with bringing back old characters. 7. And here we finally get an episode of Season 5, the season where the show shifted towards more darker tones. Your points are all spot-on, in nailing its comedic moments but also having the dark stuff Season 5 was known for. You just have to love how Skarloey and his crew were nothing but unharmed all along. 6. This one is known for being a controversial episode because of how much the series aimed towards railway realism at the time so this episode felt like a big black sheep among them. The scenes with the boulder are haunting but very mysterious, especially with the final lines from the narrator. 5. I remember this one from my Rock 'n' Roll VHS, which it was the last episode on and a great end to a nice batch of Season 4 episodes. The scenery is really what gets me here, since the show does do a good job with winter scenes (part of why The Flying Kipper is still a fan fave episode to this day) and the mood of the music also fits in. The notable lack of dialogue from the engines also makes it that much more intriguing. 4. This was one of those episodes that was on a T&F VHS I had called Spooks & Surprises (Rusty And The Boulder, Snow and Haunted Henry were also on that same VHS) and man it changes mood a lot. It starts out with Toby taking the Fat Controller and his family on a happy day out to visit a castle and an old mine. Then when nightfall comes, we see Toby getting a real lesson in scariness. Shame we never saw Bertram again, but he was rather forgettable anyway. 3. This episode is one of the standouts of Season 5 and T&F at its scariest. There's so much that makes this episode work. It has a simple plot of Edward telling an old myth and Henry doesn't believe it, only to see the horror unfolding right in from of him. The music, the fog effects and Henry's facial expressions in reaction to what he saw were all nailed. I remember when this episode used to scare me as a kid, but that's why it's so good. 2. This one I noticed gets a lot of appreciation for the scenery, and like you said Season 4 was known for its beautiful Narrow Gauge sets. The story of Duke, Stuart (Peter Sam) and Falcon (Sir Handel) is very emotional because you notice they were all great friends, but then massive changes happen and the trio get separated, culminating with Duke getting put in the shed. Then after years of being in the shed, Duke finally gets found and reunited with his friends. It's such a beautiful episode. 1. This episode being at the top was no surprise considering it's very beautiful and emotional, but also made you appreciate Henry as a character, and I definitely agree with that because as you mentioned, there's so many human characteristics in Henry's personality which I feel sets him apart from the other main characters. This episode is one of those that makes you realise just how relatable of a character he can be, in that anyone who had a special place that was hurt by something bad could easily understand what Henry was going through. It's episodes like this that makes me love Henry, in that it shows so many feelings.
This was very enjoyable to watch. I found myself agreeing with most of what you said. You really are one of the more articulate speakers in the community, and you did a very good job presenting your views. I also carry a similar nostalgia for most of those season five episodes. Keep up the good work!
It's rare seeing someone in the community be able to understand and relay the tones of the series. You covered the emotions of the show quite nicely, and I respect that. This should be a role model for other users.
When you said about the tomy Thomas and recreating the crash scene in "Percy gets it right", I had so many memories of me doing the same thing. Thanks for the nostalgia trip and a great video, very entertaining
Percy gets it right has a special place in my heart too also I’ve had the railway series classic library all my life but I’ve always wanted the rest of the railway series books
I know you have Rusty to the Rescue as a special mention but for me, within that episode is the most beautiful scene in all of television that I’ve seen as a kid
hmmm For me, It has to be Escape as my number 1. Others.... Flying Kipper, A Close Shave, Gallant Old Engine, Toby's Tightrope, Break Van, Wrong Road, etc
I remember when I was younger, the first episode I watched was don't go back in season 12. Yeah I watched thomas and friends from season 12 to 16 so not the best episodes but i still loved it. I also had all the original railway series books and the very last one written by Christopher Awdry. These to me were also great episodes with good reasons.
I always remember recreating the crash from haunted Henry and something in the air with my take along metallic Henry and I also love the scene in grandpuff when falcon and Stuart collide with the trucks with duke watching and I just love EVERYTHING about Toby and the flood and I would put it in my number 1 spot but I still agree with your list
I like Toby’s Discovery in how they created the overall effect for the episodes. The castle although in the bright and colorful set seems really unsettling .The night time over contrast shadow casting really sent the chill down the spine the first time I watched it and the soundtrack really brought the scene together even tho it’s just a model set. TBH I think it’s better than Haunted Henry as the environmental tone wasn’t as crisp I simply can’t agree more with Iron Duke & Henry’s Forest and Henry’s characteristic character that the new CGI series seem to lost it forever
Nice choices, very different to what people usually consider. Anyways, I'm surprised that Three Cheers For Thomas, didn't even get a mention, most fans don't know, but that was the final episode of Season Seven, meaning the final episode of the older models, Mike O' Donnel and Junior Campbell's music, the final episode by David Mitton and for Britt Allcroft to be even involved in and the absolute final episode of the Classic Era. This episode was PERFECT ending to the classic series and seems to be very overlooked, mostly because it came from a very forgetful season TBH.
Wait, THAT was the series finale? I always thought hasty puddings was, at least that's what the DVD says, although to be honest, it's in the wrong order lol.
During Toby's discovery,I think it's meant to be Toby's theme rather then Ring around the Rosie . Yet they are so similar , I can barely notice a difference .
You also grew up in Singapore watching Thomas? Damn man, we have alot in common. I remember always playing my Tomy stuff and recreating all the episodes. Some aren't even in order! :D
I really like this video I like nearly all the episodes from season 1 to 19(in my country season 20 isn't available, I don't know if it's available in USA or UK) but I hate the Miller era(the only episode that I like from the miller era is Wonky whistle, I know..... weird) but this video. .. ...this reminded me of the good days of Thomas, I started to cry when I heard the theme for Henry's forest good job, and thank you for reminding about the good ol' days of our number one engine.
I enjoyed this list so much, however I also believe Alec Baldwin did an excellent job narrating during season 5 and so forth. It's just my opinion since I grew up with the U.S version of Thomas and Friends.

6:47 I really hope City Of Truro returns in the future I mean as an actual character and get some details of the relationship between him and Flying Scotman
#11 Percy Gets It Right isn't bad.. #10 Toby & The Stout Gentleman has Fridge Horror. #9 Toby's Tightrope is an episode i'm fond of. #8 Thomas & Stepney is good. #7 Snow is an under-rated episode. #6 Rusty & The Boulder terrified me when i was younger, so much so; that i would refuse to watch that episode when i watched my Spooks & Surprises VHS. #5 Special Funnel is one of the last S4 episodes i saw. #4 Toby's Discovery scared me as a kid. #3 Haunted Henry is brilliant. #2 Granpuff/Sleeping Beauty was a good arc. HM: Wrong Road, Horrid Lorry, Thomas & The Rumours, Something In The Air, Scaredy Engines, Trucks!, Paint Pots & Queens, Busy Going Backwards, Oliver's Find, Escape, Blown Away, Gordon & The Gremlins, A Better View For Gordon, Four Little Engines, Gallant Old Engine, Toby Had A Little Lamb, Rusty To The Rescue, Tit For Tat, Useful Railway, Peter Sam & The Refreshment Lady, Bye George, Toby & The Flood, Duncan Gets Spooked. That's a lot! #1 Henry's Forest is a lovely episode. He tended to get the best episodes didn't he. Most of these are from S3/S4/S5, not that i'm complaining. Series 1, 3 & 5 were my childhood with S5 being my favourite season and the one i had most, if not all of, on VHS as a kid.* *Rescues On The Railways, Happy Holidays, Spooks & Surprises & Peep Peep Party. S&S was my favourite despite the last two episodes being rather scary to my young mind

This, this video.... You've really helped me realize how beautiful and emotional this series is. From the mysterious boulder, to the lovely forest, to all the character development... The Flying Kipper is one of my favourites because of the atmosphere and that crash

Henry's forest is my favorite episode too, it just establishes Henry's love for nature and it shows that even though that you're big and tall and tough at the same time you can have a soft side
The music in the recent McDonalds Chicken Nuggets advert sounds like Stepney's theme to me.

Also I was in Malaysia this summer and at one of my dad's work collegues house there was a copy of that Haunted Henry DVD! What a coincidence XD

Wow, thanks a lot for the kind words :)
Great choice of episodes. I'm really impressed on your editing as well! Really well done!
When you said about the tomy Thomas and recreating the crash scene in "Percy gets it right", I had so many memories of me doing the same thing. Thanks for the nostalgia trip and a great video, very entertaining
I like Alec Baldwin’s delivery of Henry saying “stupid bird” in Haunted Henry
I think that if Britt Alcroft had only made episodes on the narrow gauge railway, I would still be happy with the classic era.
I had Henry's Forest on my Trust Thomas DVD in the US. It was my fave episode on the DVD.
Percy gets it right has a special place in my heart too also I’ve had the railway series classic library all my life but I’ve always wanted the rest of the railway series books
for the season 5 episodes that are on this list, Baldwin did an amazing job, like Haunted Henry. for number 2, Carlin did an amazing job.
omg i should've seen Henry's Forest coming...
TBH I think it’s better than Haunted Henry as the environmental tone wasn’t as crisp
I simply can’t agree more with Iron Duke & Henry’s Forest and Henry’s characteristic character that the new CGI series seem to lost it forever
@@GavinsBazaar313 It depends on whether you consider the production order or the UK airing order to be the actual order.
6:42 don't forget Flying Scotsman's tenders or just Flying Scotsman
I agree with this list. Just wish people considered Toby and the Flood as a great classic.
Where the hell is Wonky Whistle and Up Up and Away?
During Toby's discovery,I think it's meant to be Toby's theme rather then Ring around the Rosie . Yet they are so similar , I can barely notice a difference .
You also grew up in Singapore watching Thomas?
Damn man, we have alot in common. I remember always playing my Tomy stuff and recreating all the episodes. Some aren't even in order! :D
I really like this video
I like nearly all the episodes from season 1 to 19(in my country season 20 isn't available, I don't know if it's available in USA or UK) but I hate the Miller era(the only episode that I like from the miller era is Wonky whistle, I know..... weird) but this video. .. ...this reminded me of the good days of Thomas, I started to cry when I heard the theme for Henry's forest
good job, and thank you for reminding about the good ol' days of our number one engine.
I love how you do the put engine numbers as intro
I love the talk
12:56 your right, but seriously, how does smashing into a shed make it explode
great work i always like watching your videos and i live in Singapore too
I enjoyed this list so much, however I also believe Alec Baldwin did an excellent job narrating during season 5 and so forth. It's just my opinion since I grew up with the U.S version of Thomas and Friends.
Am I the only one who thought The Boulder looked like a ball of chocolate ice cream? xD

Most of these are from S3/S4/S5, not that i'm complaining. Series 1, 3 & 5 were my childhood with S5 being my favourite season and the one i had most, if not all of, on VHS as a kid.*
*Rescues On The Railways, Happy Holidays, Spooks & Surprises & Peep Peep Party. S&S was my favourite despite the last two episodes being rather scary to my young mind
