Flying Scotsman departing London Kings Cross bound for York, "Also look out for Michael Portillo who is on board this train in the third carriage in a Green Jacket"
Always loved the steam locomotives… brings back my childhood memories in India in 70’s and 80’s where me and my brother holding my father’s hand on each side watching these gentle giants roar at the station . Thanks to the British for their efforts in establishing the railways in my home country.
I can only imagine 60103 was being pushed greatly as there was no visible or audible effort when it finally got underway. The helicopter also drowned out any possible steam audio as the train receded. It looked as though the crew just let the brake off and (metaphorically) sat back. Captures the crowds well though.

The engineers don't wave the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954.
I can imagine what Gordon would say about that whistle!
Disgraceful!
@@vincentmusic09 Precisely!
@@elainelethborg2550 Indeed.
It isn’t wrong, but we just don’t do it.
Yup. It's a girlie-wirlie whistle. Not like the manful hooters of the kings and castles.
👍
Poundland whistle sounding well
11 carriages
What is that blue plate on the locomotive’s front?
"The Flying Scotsman" (This is the name of the train not locomotive).
@@Middlesbrough250 That makes sense
That's beautiful! I'm curious, was this recorded on the first run after its overhaul?
It was filled after it first otherhaul
Express
times of locomotives
When will some kind hearted person take that penny whistle off and put a proper one on.
Wonderful loco, but what is wrong with her whistle????
+Martin Ashwill it sounded like she had a sore throat, hope she gets better soon!
His whistle! His name is Scott!
I think it was toned down because of the proximity of so many people, it is ear splitting normally.
Why all the cops?
03:14 Michael Portillo?
Yes, it's him
The man who saved the Settle & Carlisle line.
@@1chish 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@steveluckhurst2350 And what are you 😂😂 about Steve?
@@1chish Michael portillo "saved the S&C line".
That slimey twerp wouldn't save his own granny unless there was something in it for him.
Wish they hadn't put that stupid big blue badge off the front.
I hope the woke brigade don’t see this and start campaigning for it to be renamed The Flying Scotsperson?
😂😂😂😃😃😅😅😀😀😂😀😀!! lol
