LEGO MOTORS BLOWING UP with RPM MEASUREMENT
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- I am testing with max.35000RPM which Lego motor type is the most capable and which blows up first. I used the 3 main motor types Inline, Boxer and V6/V8. I was surprised how much RPM the LEGO motors were able to handle.
RS3.1 building instruction is available on my website: www.thealternat...
Check out my LEGO racing car using the same motor :)

The inline 6 failed due to flexibility in the engine as a whole, not from the speed.
Redneckguitarist it’s the balance as well it’s crankshaft can whip under stress unlike a v engine or boxer engine which has a more equal force but a v6 engine is more rigid.
Although I6 has better engine balance
@@elweewutroone not this specific one, a real v6 has each crank pin on the crank shaft spaced at a 120 degree angle, these were spaced at 180 degrees between each
1:51 - that's your big end gone.
Song??? It sounded good
Try a plane piston engine
LOL we use arduino with maths at school
At 12000 rpm it will... *blow up*
that inline 6 just crapped out its crankshaft lol
Creeperboy The inline is much weaker because of the long lego crankshaft 😅
Like a big turd lol😂😂😂😂😂 kur plunk
@@alternativeengineering6220 will my flat 8 engine blow up if i use a makita drill?
Yes,It will explode
Wasn't really a fair test with the inline 6. It looked like it didn't have enough support. It was literally bowing downwards on the test rig.
Every thing over 10k rpm sounds like vtec
diamantemine :)
diamantemine VTEC KICKED IN YOOOOO
Creeperboy and friends....DO YOU HAVE A HOONNNDDDAAA?!
Rotary engines are also capable of 10k + rpm
When other companies try to make high revving engines like Honda did.
You know that this is just lego and has nothing to do with real life? Gosh those fanboys...
Yeah my lawnmower turns crazy high
@@hermannbose7347 lol
@@hansdampf2084 whatever I'm not gonna argue about it. Cuz I know I'm right.
And after they developed one good engine, why a second one?
If you had the crank pins offset by 120 degrees, you'd probably have a more stable engine
1:10 bet it got ringland faliure
It got kinds of failure haha
alternate title: *how takumi blew his engine*
the v6 only won because the whole setup was much more solid, having a support bar that ran across the top of the engine that held the crankshaft together, the boxer literally just fell off the motor mounts and the s6 just bent until the crank fell out, it looks like it was even setup to have support bars underneath that were removed
I hate to be “that guy” but that isn’t a true boxer. That is a 120 degree V six or a Flat 6 to the layman. The difference is in the crank. In a true boxer each individual connecting rod has its own rod journal. They aren’t paired together like in a flat 6. True Boxers are internally balanced though this and makes them run high rpms very well with very smooth idles. They are however longer and heavier due to a longer crank.
Its acctually a v180 instead of a boxer...
Kili Winkler Yes thats true because of the crankshaft :)
A flat engine
v180 doesn't exist it IS a boxer
Super Baldi Flat engines are 180° V engines Sharing crankpins between the cylinders Where a boxer engine uses separate crank pins for each cylinder so a flat six will have three crank fins while a Boxer six will have six crank pins that Lego engine hand three crane pins making it a flat engine also known as a180° V engine
@@Cugy_2345 Nice explanation 👌
0:40 we can use it as a gun
The straight six failed because of the inbalance in the crankshaft, therefore causing vibrations that shook the crankshaft loose.
Which is funny, because real inline 6's are the most balanced engine out of all configurations, due to how they're timed.
@@d3ad_w31ght8 It's because of the piston phases; real straight-sixes have 3 perfectly balanced piston phases 120 degrees apart that are balanced on each side of the engine; this one only has 2 piston phases 180 degrees apart and the forces on either side of the engine don't cancel each other out. It's basically three straight-twos stuck end-to-end without any difference in phase.
That's some insane test
Stephanix thank you 😊
I saw a lot similar lego engine tests but i found it interesting which motor type is the best
0:14 when vtech just kicked in
I remember hooking a real motor up to Lego as a kid, and melting it from the friction.
Awsome video but just wondering how do you control the speed.
Hey thank you, with my normal Radio Controll i use for the cars :) I measured the RPM with the arduino not with the controll
@@alternativeengineering6220 77
Speed controller lol
Since these engines don’t have counter weights on the crankshaft, or balance shafts, the naturally balanced inline 6 performs best at this scale.
Noooo wd40 is not a good lubricant for legoooo
When other companies try to make high revving engines like Honda did.
they fail miserably
@@shimaafrazmanesh130 oh yes
yoo turi ip ip ip
the pistons flying outta the cylinder look like escape pods firing from a star wars ship
It's a flat six but not a boxer six because conrods are connected to same crank pin.

1:01 Subaru engines be like:
So massive engines could shorten boxer by 2 studs
Use olive oil. WD 40 or V1 wears out quickly
Can you do the same test but with 4 Cylinder engines?
WD40 will loosen the parts 🤦♂️
spoiler. the turbo falls off and its funny
Take this out side and see if a piston can go to the moon or Mars
...did you use wd-40 as a lubricant?
just get a hard drive powered motor ez 40000 rpm
I like how 1 piston kept fighting in the inline 6
thats what happened to my cummins inline 6. it wasnt because of RPM overspeed. at the time i was using a twin screw supercharger i had built and i ran it at 4000 RPM. i then forced air from a balloon into the engine and it rev'd to 5500 RPM. but as i was about to shift gear. the crank smacked the engine block and siezed the engine. it also smacked the parts container nearby. heres the video of it running
ua-cam.com/video/Me9_gTRyBjY/v-deo.html
there is a hole beneath the supercharger where the air got in. and a secondary bypass on the air intake manifold. the mess happened after i finished recording
It would help if they had the poper 270° crankshafts.
Also that isn't a boxer 6, that is a v180
It needs more support for the test stand
so that's why my rc car didn't work
"cylinder five, ready for takeoff"
The V6 had the best explosion
Boxer sounds like real engine
f1 cars hybrid v6 belike
the pistons just said see ya later
0:28 And The piston Fly
What about a radial engine?
Well that’s one way to lose an eye
Bs v6’s are the least stable irl
Cylinder 2 has left the building 🤣
supra vs GT-R vs 911
Pistons go weeeeeeeee
this is a month later and i had replaced the damaged cylinder head with a brand new DOHC prototype. this model is belt driven.
ua-cam.com/video/l2u6z6OwREA/v-deo.html
the turbo in question is a TK10 mini. my sponsor is turbokeychains.com. i plan to rebuild the engine and use the metal pistons the website offers. and a much bigger turbo. the one i used was too small and not correctly made. its a t4 flange i think. if you need idea or parts. ask me anytime
you should try to make a braket so the engine cant "explode" and break from the build
all of them but the V6 flexed so much to where failure happened from the torque produced 😭
The second one looks like a fast invisible object went through it with a knife

Maybe you can make a gun by a Lego engine and shoot things by piston head that fly out
You should make 2jz or rb26 engine out of lego.
ahongzbilly thats a great idea :)
Can you do v4, boxer 4 and in-line 4 plz thanks
Adan Lopez I wrote it on my list:)
Adan Lopez v4 is not a thing in car form but possible with LEGO some how
@@fixwithviolence1598 no it is a real thing in cars its just that manufactuers found it easyer to use i4 or v6 in their engines sry for any bad grammer
Pip Squeakmellon Lancia Fulvia. Has a V4 engine
ZAZ 965. V4 engine, mounted in the rear.
Annoying music
Make a inline7 plz , because is a project and i need how much are the max rpm :)
They all died within 5 Seconds
Short title.. Engine guns.
sponsored by takumi
inline six blew up because it was made by nissan and not toyota(like both tho).
Jacob the gamer 177...uh what engine line did you mean?..if its the RB line...you are very wrong...that thing can handle 1600 HP
why did you call a staight 6 a boxer
ther are several names for that
other one i know is “horizontally-opposed parallel cycle”
So the V6 will outlast them all! The motor industry should stop making inline engines and boxers engines and instead make V6’s or V8’s since they can handle more RPM
WolfDogFilms...i see you point..but smaller engines i.e. Inline and boxers have lower center of gravity, so they can corner better
So the V6 is for reliability I guess, and the boxer is for racing
@@coydog7902 no no no no, manufacturer design is what will win
CoyDog790 No. Just no. Ever heard of the 2JZ and the RB? The 2JZ can handle 2000+ horsepower and the RB can go well over 1600. Subaru Boxer (a flat-4) can handle a lot of horses as well, just have to replace the transmission because it’s glass.
CoyDog790 and the 2JZ and RB26 are both one of the most reliable engines ever made. Ever. And they are inline 6’s. I6’s are also much cheaper to manufacture.
This is why engines have rev limiters. Over reving can damage your engine Because the engine will combust too quickly for the engine to handle.
Is a very bad Made test
It's more for fun and showing the capabilities of my brushless motor😊
If you want it to last longer put Legos over the cylinder Legos
