LEGO Engine With 4 Speed STICKSHIFT (shifting and destruction )
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- Today’s video involves a LEGO setup design to replicate how an automobile power train works. This model demonstrates the necessary procedures when operating a transmission and the consequences when done wrong. Up next will be a 6 speed for bigger and better destruction.

This Lego gearbox has better working synchromesh than my actual car ..

My car is only from 1998 but the synchromesh on all the gears just very worn, especially 3th gear lol
Almost impossible to change down to 3th

omg when you money shifted it it actually shot the piston out
just like my summer car money shift lol
Satsuma AMP havent played that in a few months now haha, i also have some real fun times with that shitsuma
@Gibbon Pretty sure that the wrist pin would hold the piston on the connecting rod though.
@@RobertVivian I know of a rally car that miss shifted from 5th to 2nd and one piston was literally sent flying in the air. It broke the wrist pin, the engine cover and the bonnet. It was at a Portuguese rally around the 70's-80's...
But at least it wouldn't cost thousands of dollars to fix this engine

Why does it sound like a real engine
Sounds better than an actual engine these days TBH
It is a real engine. It can't power a car but, uh I don't know, that's all I've got.
@@Penultimate_Jive it's pretty far away from a real engine. It has no injection, ignition actually no fuel system. No oil is needed. The only thing it has in common with a real engine is that it has Cylinders, pistons, rods and that it spins
@@idknils2920 r/wooosh
@@idknils2920 But then again, it shows you how a real engine would behave, right?
You have to increase the rpm when down shifting aka match speed
gamer nick19213 yeah :) rev matching
Or he could add a clutch pack somrhow out of legos so it would automatically match rpm due to friction
@@grantleland6913 Making a CVT out of lego and a couple of old "proyo" yo-yo mechanisms could be pretty cool, useless here, but cool none-the-less.
gamer nick - to be fair, he just needed to remove the load from the input to the gearbox, this would give enough play for the gears to mesh properly, and is how clutchless shifting is done too (main video on my channel shows me clutchless shifting on one of my bikes - tension the shifter, lightest drop of revs to remove load, and it drops right into gear. My focus does the same lol)
@@the_mad_ratter I've been thinking about a CVT for a bicycle (I do a lot of mountain biking) because when you are pedaling uphill you lose the most amount of energy during the actual shift of the gears... If you were able to only have one rear sprocket that can change its diameter instead of 7-10 like most mountain bikes then there would never be a moment when you don't have power going to the wheel. I've seen someone put a conventional CVT (2 cones that move back and forth to change the gear ratio) on a bike and it is totally impractical because of its weight and need for electrical components. Anyway I bet it would possible to make something like this out of Legos which is why i am sharing... Cool motorcycle videos too, ive been able to shift my manual truck without the clutch too it's kinda fun
Now do it with an LPE so you don't need a power supply to run it.
Money shift won't destroy modern transmissions, just overrev the hell out of your engine, and even then in a well designed engine it will only be an issue for the valvetrain. Like seen in the video, you're more likely to also end up getting a lot of forward roll on the car with the wheels locking up or the axles snapping. If you had a clutch it would have spun.
The addition of a clutch would have helped your shifting situation a lot.
Really useful way to understand the basics and shifting in a gearbox. Really nice build! Thanks so much
Dude the top speed test just sounds like a fkin diesel.
Small correction, first gear is a lower ratio then fourth gear. In the automotive industry, a 8:1 first gear is considered low, while a 0.5:1 overdrive gear is considered very high
3 sylinder engine with 4 speed manual gearbox
What a fantastic
I made a 4 speed manual (not including reverse!) on a truck MOC that had a motor driven engine I also added a pump for more realistic sounds. Very complex as I did it when I was a young child 😂 The transmission was the hardest part, but the gearstick looked good after. My next project is to change the splitter!
Edit it was a Lego motor 😁
I like paddle shift
btw: I just LOVE the engine sound
Cool design
so cool. Would be nice for teachers to ask students to build transmissions based on legos
God that money shift is destructive
Nice inline 3 and gearbox it look really great
This is delightfully insane. Thank you!
This Lego transmission goes into gear smoother than my Miatas transmission
Going from 4th to 2nd, or 2nd to 4th, is capable of being done without destroying the transmission or the engine. It's called floating the gears.
Its crazy how it sounds like an actual engine
Tbh it sounds really good
Very interesting. Perhaps sbapshots of how the parts look afterwards?
This thing sounds amazing at high speed
I like the valve cover that was removed from the engine on start up.
oh u noticed that its a lego b 16 keychain valve cover tho it wouldnt make sense because its a 3 cylinder
@@madbrick923 doesn't matter how many cylinders at has, I just like there's a little Honda even in Lego engines. :) By the way excellent video I'm sure it was a lot of work putting all that together. But I really did enjoy the video.
Been wanting to see an electric motor for a car do this. By simulating Pistons, you create an ICE feel
5:15 Need For Speed has entered the chat
You have a gear shifter but no clutch at high speeds a clutch would be essential to (probably) prevent that lock up at high speed.
Very nice! That's a really good representation of how it all works, although you need a clutch to complete the picture. I'm not sure how a clutch would be accomplished in lego but I'm sure it's possible.
It is using a tire and a rim I've done it it is quite easy you can look it up

Great video to visuelize what is happening inside a car
Wow and it even kinda sounded like an engine! Nice build!!
Find ‘em and grind ‘em!
When he first starts the top speed test it sounds like a detroit diesel
3:02 Epicc money shift.
You should measure the rpm of the flywheel too.
I'll need to get a visual tach. Thanks for the suggestion.
Engine be like when Mad Brick said How about a downshift all the way back to one: Don't.
Damn this V3 engine looks epix
Spicem it’s not a v3 tho
Spicem it’s an in-line 3
i suggest adding a clutch to effectively nullify grinding gears
This would make an excellent rc car
You should add a 2 speed behind it
What with you clutchless mastering it
Semi drivers who don't have bad knees know what I mean
Now ef tat ain't da scariest darn Lego set I ever done seen...
The gear box seemed a little tall after 2nd. Can prolly be fixed with a stronger motor. But first and second sounded right, But after 2nd you can hear the motor struggling to make enough power
Why not make a lock for the gears so you don't have to hold the shifter? Just some spring-loaded catches for all gear positions save neutral could do the trick. Hold them down with a button while you shift, let up and it springs up and interfaces the same way as the shifter itself meshes, stopping it from popping back out.
there is this lovely thing called rev matching
Needs something to hold the gear stick in position, something to hold the motor to the gearbox securely and a clutch!
It would be cool to try to make some kind of clutch mechanism to make it more realistic
This sounds amazingly good
I have been trying to find those red gear shift legos but they are always sold out...
I wanna see more of these videos bro keep it up your awesome.
everybody gangsta until the lego sounds like a car
For better electric engine Behaviour you could use a brush less bldc motor and a small engine controller with foot pedal so you could better control the rpm of the engine like on a real car, maybe a part 2? 😉
Damn... the situation with the manuals on the market is so terrible these days, that people started building their own out of legos just to get a tiny dose of joy.
#SaveTheManuals
You did an awesome job building this model car drive train!!!! Do you think you could build a V8 engine and do a video on it ? But again great video!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK 👨🏻🔧🏁🇺🇸.

you should make a clutch for it so you can smoothly switch gears without slowing the engine
Nice geo metro engine!
Imagine if lamburghini, ferrari or buggati did its testing on legos
It shifts better than my dads Subaru
Aight imma put this in my corolla
It'd probably make more power lol
FROM 1ST GEAR TO 3 I SEE REAL RACER HERE
Wait so does this actually produce much more power than what is being drawn to start it? if so this is insanely cool
Inline 6 would be better, as it is one of the few (if not only) engine configurations that is self balanced.
Very cool!
YES FINALLY YOUR BACK

Just wondering, what’s the music you used?
This is cool, is it a rework of the gearbox from the 8466 4x4?
Just build an enclosure for your flywheel if you are apprehensive.
I need this design hooked up to my bike
Lol
Really cool 😎
I need this for my new toy 😂
2:13 Sounds like a ZF EcoLife...
I wonder of a vacuum engine could have the power required to hit 5th gear, I know its got the rpms to do it
Informative!
what's that red piece that clips into the ridges to shift called,
as well as the pieces with ridges that the red piece clips into called?
Will we be able to get instructions on the gearbox or is it available to buy?
Bet. You won't do a mad money shift.
Holy crap.
men, this sounds like a tractor
Add a clutch to it somehow.. That would make it better!
with this knowledge next thing you know there will be lego car rolling down the street
It actually sounds like a stick shift when you go to shift gears and the engine changes RPM
