Bo Burnham's Career So Far | From My Whole Family, To Hollywood, To Inside
/ netflixuk
A musical comedy special shot and performed by Bo Burnham, alone, over the course of a very unusual year. - Розваги
why do i feel like a proud parent watching this
Totally agree! I’m only about 3 months older but I stumbled across ‘my whole family…’ two days after it was uploaded and preceded to just follow his career from then to now. Inspired me to write my own comedy songs… he’s such a talented bloke and Inside is the best thing he has done so far. Can’t wait to see where his career goes from here
Parasocial relationship.
Ha this is exactly how I feel. I've been following Bo since my friend showed me New Math in 2007 and I absolutely love seeing how well he's done.
Me too. I'm the mom he Facetimes.
See, I got a different feeling. Obituary vibes.
‘This generation is not self-obsessed, they’re self-conscious’ - Bo
I feel like I’m going to try and remember this one
yeah fax
Too much self-consciousness leads to self-obsession by default though.
He's my background on my phone and my lock screen I was totally obsessed when my friend introduced me to his movie inside
everything he's involved with is brilliant
Yeah, no, he's trash.
Mate have you seen Tamborine?
Damn that a sack of shit
@@MrDanieloneilll
@@MrDanieloneill what
@@MrDanieloneill then why are you watching this video?
The way the narrator introduced Judd Apatow made it sound like he’s a director born in 1981 that just hasn’t had sex quite yet
djdjfhchdb
hahaha why did he have to do Judd like that
Lol! "Forty-year-old vuuuhhhgin director..."
Yooooooo thought the EXACT same thing
Thank you for confirming I was alone in this feeling.
"When I was 27 I built a birdhouse with my mom" - completely ignoring the fact that he had released two full length films for netflix
The man has priorities. You have to respect it.
@@stillwatchingnetflix 😆😂
@@stillwatchingnetflix *cue Facetime with my Mom*
Well, which do you think is more important?
He was a millionaire at 22, said it in the Tim Key interview, can't say he didn't get lucky but that's still a huge achievement, daamn
No one shall forget the legendary song: The world is on fire
*A world on fire
I can never remember the lyrics
@@abhishetty2637 I shall remind you: **ahem**
"AAAAHH AAAAAAAHHHAAHHH"

I cannot stop singing all the songs from INSIDE, they are just so bloody catchy
I haven’t listened to anything else since it was released on spotify
@@katelynb1665 me neither! Every walk I go in I put it on
My 2 and 4 year olds are as obsessed as my husband and I and ask to listen to or watch Bo constantly 😂
@@katelynb1665 almost 2 years later, it is still true
“Inside” is his magnum opus. It’s so perfect and the fact that it was done completely by himself is incredible
One of the most talented human beings on the planet. He's absolutely fantastic.
the thumbnail just makes it seem like Bo transformed into a girl, and is now the reincarnation of Jesus.
Sounds like an average Saturday for me
I actually want to thank Netflix for a second. I'm a huge Burnham fan since the dawn of UA-cam, and I appreciate that you saw Inside for the cultural phenomenon it was going to become. Not all publishers would do that, to put it mildly.
Fo SHOW!
Could we get 'Zach stone is gonna be famous' on Netflix?
Yesssss 😫😫😫
I'm pretty sure MTV still has the rights over it, just saying.
@@leighharveycabatic8791 Yeah MTVs parent company Viacom owns the rights. Years ago Bo said in a Reddit thread that Netflix and Viacom were discussing it but that they weren’t getting along so all he could do was hope it would get on there eventually. I seriously doubt it now because he said this when “What”. was just released. I just bought it for $10 on Amazon Prime.
if you wanna watch it, you can get it on 'internet archive' for free! it's also on amazon prime video i believe??
Dont let me dream 😥 i would love that very much, i watched this year and love every second of it. Only from torrent u can find.
Bo Burnham and James Acaster together would be a supernova of comedy.
How can I like this comment 100 times??? Asking for a friend.
Omg yessssss
add daniel sloss and you got the holy trinity
@@beyza2907 I will look into him and tell you if I agree. But if we are to add a third I hope we can introduce some different POV than straight white men. Not that it’s a bad POV but let’s not get carried away lol
@@VinIchiban oh yeah totally! i just meant the holy trinity of straight white male comedians who are actually GOOD lol
I feel like they made this video as a result of how well Inside did. So now he is there golden goose that they need to exploit and pull as many golden eggs out as possible. I just hope that Bo's mental health is strong and can withstand being thrust back into the spotlight has hard as he has since it did so well. I hope you the best Bo!
Aah yes I recall the phase when Bo transformed into an 8th grade girl.
We've all been there, right?
He's come so far :') I hope he has more stuff planned. This man is amazing.
I have a serious crush on this guy. I had watched a lot of his stuff without even acknowledging him as the great artist he is. After watching Inside, I've been digging the depths of internet to find every little piece I can about him. He is one of the few artist who have been able to vocalise a lot of my thoughts, fears and anxieties.
"Make Happy" was fantastic and self-aware which made "Inside" even more impressive. It was a very retrospective take on how his career has affected his life and mental health while also managing to demonstrate 2020 better than any of the other media that was produced in response to COVID-19, namely all the medical dramas that tried to convey the collective experience while only being able to add a few more scenes with masks and lingo that is destined to become dated and used ironically. I enjoyed Bo in 2006 and seeing his progress and growth has been spectacular.
Trying watching charlie brookers ‘death to 2020’, it’s brilliant
Eighth Grade spoke to my preteen soul. While I love Bo's acting, I can't wait to see him headline another directing project someday! 🎭🎬
Eveything he does is just perfect. It doesnt matter if its funny, serious, sad, happy, romantic, uncomfortbale or realistic
The Ending song for the “Inside” hit me like all songs from the special combined, because that’s what the song was about
I'm just going to say that Bezos's song is my everyday alarm
Love it, I might just steal this idea!
My ringtone is the last part of Problematic. I named it Perfectly lawful :)
I am so happy that I am in the same timeline as Bo Burnham. The world is a better place with him in it and I hope he lives to be 200 years old so my great grandchildren can show him to their kids.
So you’re telling me, BO BURNHAM was on WE BARE BEARS???
Started watching with "what", and he's just gotten better every time. "Make Happy" was so good but it had ZERO time to breathe. I honestly think "Inside" is some of his best work. So many layers while staying easily digestible and not overly pretentious. It feels so powerful because the pandemic is an experience that virtually the whole world can relate to now.
Agreed. In addition I think “ Inside” was something everyone needed. It ruined me but you know what, I’m glad Bo is back :]
my favorite song of his has to be “rant” from Word Words Words. the lyrics are spectacular, and the fact that he was 19 makes it even better. he is so insanely talented.
Rant is genius.
At 3:27 that guy standing in the background does something insane with his arm and I've watched it back several times without figure it out.
What do you mean?
Does a little wiggly-wiggly-wave thing, I see it :D
Don't worry....it's armless
He's also playing Larry Bird in an upcoming drama series but that's HBO so we don't talk about that. Lol
Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous is absolutely incredible.
Goddamn MTV ruined it with terrible marketing.
Netflix get that shiiiiiiit
"The 40 year old virgin director Judd Apatow" (as UA-cam transcribes it) could be read in a couple different ways...
besties i cannot emotionally handle this right now
Next time I won't get the lettuce when I know it won't fit.
Inside was by far the best thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life. His voice is so good!!
Ben Potter on the narration duties! Triple Jump ftw
Son of a bitch, I thought I recognized that voice!
I like how he “illegally” changed his entire name.
Best supporting actor nomination for which award? Literally googled and couldn’t find the award they are referring to which is strange
The oscars
I don't think he was nominated, the only article I could find was one that predicts that he would be nominated. The video seems to be wrong.
@@Itspirarose It wasnt the oscars
A bunch of smaller random award ceremonies. Not the oscars or golden globes so kind of weird to bring it up in this video.
Hi macro
The dilemma with all these people “reacting” to Inside is that they no idea the genius he possesses. The depth of his work, almost every song you’d have to listen to multiple times because you miss something and need to take it all in. what. and Inside are without a doubt in the top ten of comedy specials PERIOD. Netflix it otherwise…
Have to admit I cringe hard whenever I see 'reaction' videos... But it was even weirder seeing people reacting to it on UA-cam. Felt so ironic.
yeah if bo burnham hates one thing it's normies seeing his art without recognizing his full genius. that's what he's all about.
There’s a couple of great “essays“ on UA-cam reviewing Inside. Not so much a review, as a study. Start with the one by Tuff Specialist.
I love the attention his special is getting but I'm not gonna lie, gatekeeping how people react to and enjoy his content is pretty cringe. You sound like someone bragging about needing a mega IQ to watch rick n morty... Let people enjoy things.
@@Slipknotfanms86 yes thank you, the second reply on this comment especially is just... ugh
Bo doesn't even have to try to be funny, he's a comedic genius
oh he definetly tries
Great and respectful summary. I like the examples you've used as well. Thank you.
He also had a small comedy special on comedy central before words words words but great video! Love this guy and have been following him for over 10 years
Oh shit really? What's it called? Where can I see it?
I’m so fucking proud of him.
I've seen it so many times already like double digits cause i moved to the songs on it before it hit spotify. This video just makes me want to watch it again, but I hope he feels better with all the support he's getting for how absolutely amazing it is.
Ben Potter on the voiceover. Nice one man.
"oh yeah, here we go.. it's Bo time!! ..I've watched Bo before, but I've never done a voiceover to plug his comedy special.. so I'm going to give it all I've got"
Soon as this video started I came looking for this comment
@@Toml10643 I did the same, but nobody had written it yet 😄
"Bo has done things in the past... LET'S LOOK AT SOME!"
I do not have a favorite Bo Burnham performance, they're all great.
Though everything from INSIDE has recently blown my mind.
I’ve been a fan of bo since 2016 and I’m still not over him-he’s so talented and just amazing with anything he does! I’m proud of him
Having achieved so much before he's thirty, I'm not gonna lie, does make me a tad bit insecure and anxious. Makes me wonder how much am I gonna achieve by then.
Wow this is so crazy to watch as someone who is such a long time fan. He really just outdoes himself with everything he does. Just a fantastic talent who treats his craft with such uniqueness and creativity. Can't wait to see what's next!
I first stumbled upon Bo's forest video My Whole Family when I was a fellow 16 year old (also born in 1990, no way!). Immediately I knew this kid was going places. Watching Inside just felt like the perfect full circle, yet evolutionary performance I'd expect out of him. Also Right Grade is an exceptional movie.
Great Video!
A UA-cam video about a viral UA-cam star's rise to Netflix, posted by a Netflix account onto UA-cam.
And that's the circle of life, baby.
literally one of the most talented creators out there
he's grown so much and only gotten better can't wait to see more of him
it makes me so happy how much bo has grown, i remember being so little and watching the "my whole family thinks im gay" video and loving it despite not fully knowing what it meant. a few years later i found his "what" show on netflix and a year later found his "make happy" show. it makes me so so happy seeing how much he's grown not only as a person but what he's done.
THIS. Seeing his growth as an artist has been a genuine treat. I feel like he keeps sort of finding new talents as well.
Ben from Triple Jump doing the VO caught me off guard
This legit is beautiful :')
What. will always be my favourite of his specials because its the first exposure I had to him, but make happy is leagues above anything I've ever seen in terms of peak artistic performance
Huge respect and inspiration 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Inside is the best film/special/show/project I've seen in a while. This was my intro to Bo. Can't wait to see what is next
So glad that I’ve been watching him since the beginning. I’ve loved watching him grow.
And now the Inside Outtakes!! 🤯❤
I absolutely loved Inside. But my favourite moment is probably that closing song right at the end of Make Happy. Something so poignant about it, great way to end a special
I needed this video
Beautiful video
I'm having a bit of an existential crisis realizing just now that this guy has been hiding under my nose for most of my life. Then again, I live under a rock in terms of media and celebrities outside of the internet. I hate that I'm just discovering him now and uncovering a whole realm of popular media that I've been so blissfully unaware of for so many years.
Bo is absolutely amazing, i hope we get to see him creating for many years to come!
He is the best! His focus on mental health, his hard truth combined with comedy, and his incredible talent, it's unreal how amazing he is
Ben? Is that you? Hooray Triple Jump!
By Make Happy, this man had already given SO much to the world!!! And he was having panic attacks as many of us know....so if he hadn't returned to comedy at all, I would completely understand. And now we're on the other side of "Inside" with, I believe, the possibility of more to come?!?! We really are not worthy ❤️❤️❤️❤️
i literally love this
This video could be an hour long and I would greedily and happily watch it and still thirst for more. Right now there's no such thing as too much Bo Yo. : )
I didn't know about a lot of those roles. Impressive
Was anyone else super shocked to hear Ben Potter's voice on this
ok, THIS is epic.
It's nice to hear from you Ben Potter.
Love Bo!
1.03 where is that from?
Where do I find "The World Stands Up" with Bo?
"Inside" has so many levels, layers, depth. It sucks you in, takes you by storm, starts speaking to you, makes you feel every emotion and heal a bit, only to come back to it the next day, watch it again and be overwhelmed by the genius that is BO BURNHAM...
Hi Voice Over Ben! Inside is stupidly good, though did make me question what I've done with my life if Bo's producing something that brilliant at 30.
Bo is a great example of a young comedian who’s comedy has matured with them as they aged, but still has the same edge, just with more insight.
My favorite thing is the Intro to What. Also Left Brain Right Brain, Oh Bo, Welcome to the Internet and I think the best one he's ever done is The Rant at the end of Make Happy. Brilliant.
My favourite performance would be "Welcome to the Internet" as a person who always saw life with internet in the picture it resonates a lot with me.
We Think-We Know-You. One of his best!
Didn’t know bo was in so many movies, he got around.
Great video, love Bo. Quick question… do my ears deceive me, or is that Ben from WhatCulture/Vidiots/TripleJump narrating??
Yep indeed
caught me so off guard!
I was not expecting to hear Ben Potter from Triple Jump when I clicked on this video. That was very nice.
He's produced such wonderful and genuine works of art. I'm never ever going to be able to shut up about how much of a genius he is.
I've seen Bo's episode of Parks and Recreation many many times and I had never realized he's playing a bass like it's a guitar!
Sports time! I’ve not watched Bo Burnham before but I’m going to give this everything I’ve got
"This song is called the world on fire."
"WAAUghgA"
Put this video on in the background and got really confused when Ben Potter from Triple Jump started talking.
More distracted that this is Ben Potter from Triple Jump.
Same! I keep expecting a walrus joke or something
I thought it was!! I was just like 'hang on.. Is that Ben?'
I like how they showed 2022 in the timeline at the end maybe it's a sign for more things to come
i’m glad this says “so far” because that means more is coming
It's been a hell of a ride.
One of the most impressive and curiously endearing career progressions I've ever seen. And he's still 30...
This man is talented on impossible level. I'm so glad I'm alive in this time, so I can watch and appretiate everything he makes, be amazed by it and wait for whatever he makes in future.
So much talent😵😵😵😵😵
I love you Bo
He just keeps producing better and better material!
Love the way the voiceover guy says 'Bo fo sho'
GENIUS
bo and phoebe waller-bridge together can create the show to end all shows
