I'm Roman Catholic. In the 70's you couldn't wear jeans to church and my best friends usher was humiliated by the priest performing her wedding vows because he had long hair. The priest is saying that people in "irregular" relationships love the church. Well that may be true but they don't love God nor the church more than they love themselves because if they did, they would'nt be living in nor be involved in irregular relationships in the first place contrary to the church's teaching. I, myself was engaged to be married in 2010. The priest told us that we couldn't be married in the church because he needed an annulment. He flat out refused to get an annulment and I refused to marry him without one. We broke up because I didn't want to be excommunicated from the church and barred from the Eucharist. We are not allowed to judge those outside of our religion but we can CERTAINLY judge those within the religion. If not, how would the religion protect itself from corruption? *1 Corinthians 5* states: "I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral persons - not at all meaning the immoral of this world, or the greedy and robbers, or idolaters, since you would then need to go out of the world. Do not even eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging those outside? Is it not those who are inside that you are to judge? The way I read the document is, they are blessing the individual, NOT the unity. Similarly to one who is guilty of a venial/mortal sin and is repent full of their actions (there’s more context on receiving the “blessing”). Well that may be true but they don't love God nor the church more than they love themselves because if they did, they would'nt be living in nor be involved in irregular relationships in the first place contrary to the church's teaching.

The Father has called it an "abomination", one of the worst sins possible, is blessing such a union or continuing in one doing "the will of My Father in heaven". This is probably not referring to people who struggle with their flesh, but rather those who give in to the flesh and don't struggle and don't do God's will.

The equivalent for this particular abomination of a sin, would be to cut off the junk, or just getting a chemical castration (many report a large decrease in urges).
