I like how your tone shifted with each phase of tf2, the excited tone when the game became f2p and the more serious tone when it came to bots and people leaving the community or internet. Really made the video feel like a proper timeline. Good job!
Also appreciate the whiteboard/MS Paint drawings and the evolving series of hats eventually culminating in a Towering Pillar of Hats. Enough to catch attention as a good joke but not distract from the overall message of the video.
I actually quite like that in the absence of jerma/star/muselk the content creation void has been filled not by a few massive channels but rather by a ton of small up and coming ones that all have their own styles. the landscape for tf2 content now is way more diverse than it was in like 2011 when I started watching tf2 stuff on yt

I was growing up never gotten the chance to play TF2 but there is no doubt that people like Piemations, The Winglet's Live and Let Spy video, Meet the teams, Exportation date and many SMF animations to be found were absolutely my favs back in 2015. Its expected that this game will never get a new update or even remove its bots but the games, its characters and its community is still alive and well that they are able to make the most out of what they are able to bring together. TF2 will never die in my eyes, its too iconic and given how people still remember the game, the animations and its iconic scout, spy, pyro, heavy, sniper, engineer, demoman, medic and solider. Thank you Team Fortress 2
i'm kinda surprised you didn't mention the VA's doing some shenanigans with the community, and also the 64bit update. from a technical standpoint, that update is HUGE. whether or not it'll lead to any more official content from VALVe is to be seen, but, still, it unlocks a lot of potential and even increases its lifespan! otherwise, great vid on the history of TF2 and its lifespan. i can't wait to tell my grandkids about how back in 2023 i chainstabbed about 7 people in a row on the point on nucleus, only for them to reply with "what the sigma is bro yappin about" or some other alien language
Yeah, Ill be honest, when the VA's started going crazy I had just finished the script and had started recording the video and there were acouple takes where I tried to include it but it just felt too clunky and ham fisted. Same with the 64 bit update. But yeah, I also cant wait to tell people about the one time in badwater I stopped the entire team from pushing with a mini sentry and a gun slinger. Before they ask who am I and what am I talking about.
Man I love TF2 so much, I never want it to end to be honest, its still my favorite thing to this day, and I believe it has so much potential still, it just needs a little more love. I still create maps for it, have ever since 2012, and I dont plan on stopping any time soon, as long as I continue to play it (or we get TF3) Great video!
thank you so much! I agree it definatly needs more attention but props to you for making maps for it! Thats really cool and is probably doing a whole lot more for the game then the developers are right now. Thanks!
Whenever I leave comments it's usually some sort of joke, but I only have praise regarding how well put together and informative this video is to be honest. The amount of stuff packed into this 32 minute video is impressive, you manage to cover so much without anything feeling particularly brushed over or not well thought out. The outside information you give related to time periods almost always had relevance to a point you were trying to make which I loved, an example being how you tied PewDiePie versus T-Series back to TF2, I was a big fan of that. The writing hear is incredibly solid, and I enjoy the emotion and delivery behind the lines. I very much liked the subversion of expectations towards the latter half in which you draw comparison to Minecraft instead of Overwatch, it was a nice twist and a unique take that I have not seen made nearly as often. I'm not much for writing a huge paragraph going in-depth with my praise, but this one deserves it. Well done with this one, truly.
I can not tell if this is a critism on my video or just most TF2 videos at this point but yeah me too. I tried to make it so that its not really about tf2 and more about the cotent creation side of things but I can see if someone were to say that I am just rephrasing this overdone topic... I wouldnt agree but I could atleast see it.
I honestly don’t even know if tf2 will get a new major update like jungle inferno but if it does I guarantee it will be made by the community, voted by the community, and cherished by the community. (If we do I really hope it’s the heavy update)
*THANK YOU* for being the first content creator (that I know of) to acknowledge that TF2 is still alive and kicking, despite Valve's abandonment. There are so many community creations like animations, and games, which are being made on a daily basis. I, personally, joined the community quite late (around 2021, I would say), but despite the radio silence from Valve, and the bots slowly destroying TF2 from the inside out, an entire server kill binding in one pile is just as funny as it always has been. I won't say that TF2 will *never* die, but it's gonna last quite a while longer.
Valve could do the bare minimum when it would come to content since the community makes so many awesome Guns, Skins, Hats and Maps its just so dumb they dont even bother looking in TF2 direction. They could just hold a vote on what should be added and reward the creators with something and bam you got a content update.
your story on how you found tf2 hits close to home as to how similar it is. i quite literally also shared a laptop with my brother as we both played tf2. while he's way more of a fan than i was, 30 dollars was impossible to come by as a 13 year old so minecraft was out of the question. tf2 has filled me with joy over the years and the recent content of the game is so fascinating to watch now that i have my own eye for content creation. great video !
I've seen this one dude named "BackInMyDayProductions" they are a strange case, their TF2 vids replicated 2008 TF2 vids even if... They are clearly playing in modern TF2 matches. Looking deeper into their vids and comments, they do it because they were never there in the early days of TF2, so they are trying to "recreate what was lost". It's definitely weird (the way he or she plays I mean, it's literally how it was like back in the late 2000s.) But eh, I guess everyone has their own thing. It does look quite authentic tho. And I am pretty glad there are still people like this guy making old style content, I hope they upload more soon. For now the channel only has like 4-6 uploads as of current.
thats really interesting, I dont know how I didnt catch that in my research, I allways find stuff like that really interesting because it shows just how much of a legacy this game has, in ever part of it, not just new.
Have never played TF2 in my entire life but from this video, I can feel the sheer effect it has had on so much through this video. Great video man and I am glad you made a video on something close to your heart (Can only make so many Schlatt videos before you go insane).
@@DrDerpGamer np :) tf2 been a very big influence in my life as well, helped me through some of the worst times. I do still hope for valve to make the next issue in the comic, or the last neca figures though I dont feel like I will see eigther the hope is light green as said and well heck I can wait. and on the bright side MvM still seem to be working and even though its not the same as a mach it does help then not feeling patient about finding a bot free server.
super epic video, i never considered how long i've actually known the tf2 characters throughout my life, MANY years before i even touched the game. Also super pro for responding to like, all the comments 💪
Super epic comment. Yeah its such a weird phenomenon that more people know the characters then have played the game but still I think thats a testament to the games character. And yeah, its cool to see what people have to say on my vid and if someone went out of their way to engage with my content I feel the least I can do is engage with them alittle bit you know?
Great video on tf2 and the content creator scene. It was very researched and you end all message showcasing how valve has completely abandoned a cash cow still to this day such as tf2 was fantastic. I did wish you touched on things like community servers/workshops like zetsy jesus does or mods that came from tf2 like a few mods here and there and full on ones like tf2 classic which I like covering or interstellis. Regardless of that, I think your message and coverage is pretty neat as this is a community that's main life source is the community now.
Yeah I agree, that was my biggest over site in the video admittedly. I tried to be as inclusive as I could be but I didnt want have the video feel bloated which is why I stuck pretty strictly to TF2 UA-cam. As well I dont feel like I am knowledgeable enough in that stuff and the researching process for this video was extensive enough as it was. Thank you for the feed back though!
If you could do a video on S.T.A.L.K.E.R id find it pretty interesting. The community is not at all as large as tf2's, but a pretty strong community aswell. Just looking at GAMMA and ANOMALY, and some other mods, you can tell. The way you handled this topic was awesome. Id love to see more videos like this. Dont get me wrong, i like jschlatt, but this video right here, just shows you have plenty of more potential for other topics.
Thanks so much! I will look in to it but TF2 was such a specific case because of my own expeierience with it and its unique place on the internet. Still thank you!
As an aspiring creator myself I must say kudo on all the editing and attention to detail. Good to see you heading back to 2007 for that type of research. Can't imagine it was easy. Keep up the vibe my guy
I started playing Team Fortress 2 during the Gun Mettle update. Man the amount of content 2015 TF2 had was just enormous that it felt like you had infinite amounts of content that will get you to continue playing the game. I'm so glad I played the game when it was in its prime and its peak that right now I wish TF2 went back to its 2014-2016 state. Those were the best years to play TF2.
i still miss seriousmartin, rtgame's tf2 content, karmacharger, and i remember watching travingels content back then too. still find it insane that some dude came in, pumped out the BANGER that is turbulence and just took off. dead silence, nowhere to be found. tf? arrayseven quit? oh my god
Getting locked into the TF2 niche with making UA-cam videos is a blessing and a curse. It’s a blessing because you can connect with a lot of creators who genuinely want to make great original content, and the community is very supportive. It’s a curse because like any niche on UA-cam, it’s hard to do anything else outside of it.
Yeah, but I have heard the argument "If you cant break out of a neiche did you deserve to in the first place?" And I dont know how much I agree with it but its certaintly a interesting take
I grew up around the 2012 and 2017 era of Tf2. It wasb around the time when I would watch a whole lot of Tf2 even though I didnt play the game. I especially loved the Tf2 HORSE era, with Uncle Dane, King Raja, Scottjaw, and Grizzly Berry, along with early Array Seven, Muselk, and Funke. Ever since then, Tf2 content has become very differently.
I'm fairly new to Tf2 but holy crap the community is largely and refreshingly quality over quantity. I remember specifically watching Hintshots video about the Your Eternal Reward for spy (watch it even if for the production alone) and it kinda clicked how much effort and passion is put into the game by it's community Without the mainstream hype, tf2 being the quiet community it is, means there's luckily not many cloutchasers tryna make a quick buck. Most are just incredibly passionate people, supporting each other and bonding through the shared misery of bots and Valves negligence
I've seen a lot of kitty0706's, dasboschitt's animations when they were new in the past. GMod ragdolls will never not be funny. It was a fun time at youtube/newgrounds before 2012. I have much respect towards animators of any kind and only really followed Star and Jerma, still kind of do. I fell out of love with TF2 for a bit until I've came across MisterIX09. His laughter just brings a smile to my face, and is a very weird dude. But anyways, I do rewatch some of the older stuff and it does bring a tear to my eye thinking like Kitty could've been one of the great animators/artist. Thank you for the commentary.
Amazingly put together video. It’s important for us to remember just exactly why we’re tf2 fans, no matter the state of the game itself. I’m dang proud to be a part of this community
First of all 24:57 and second of all. There are SO MANY TF2 UA-camRS. If I had to leave out some pretty big players to make it so that it was all going to fit in a way that didnt feel bloated. A guy that Im really upset that I couldnt fit in was STBlackST as he's been doing TF2 content for so long and has still stuck around with such an iconic style, as well the new youtuber Colonel Fanzipantzen and Zenith are some other honnerable mentions.
I think TF2 is just an infinitely fun game, and as long as its fun there will always be things to talk about and joy to spread. We are a self sustaining community now, estrange from the developers. How many game communities can say they have that privilege?
The game i play more than any other. I've met some really good friends, on a 24/7 2fort server believe it or not. Editing clips of me dying, killing or being disgruntled after a SHITTY SCOUT NAMED MOZAT KILLED ME has not only improved my Editing skills but helped me spot out jokes with quick improv. I love this game more than any other game, ill play it for a long time.
I can see why this vid took the time that it did. Very well put together. Very well researched. The parallels between tf2 and minecraft, the state of overwatch, the sheer creativity and willpower of the community compared to valve's actual current efforts (aka the lack there of), everything was comprehensive and clearly from a place of care! (I sent this on discord, but figured i'd add the engagement here too!!)
I think content creators have to come and go. Eventually you have told every story, made every video, etc. I enjoy making tf2 art but after 9 years Ive made every picture I can think of. Really well done, video. Subscribed:)
Thanks so much! But I still think that there is so much left of this game. Because even if you make the same picture the same picture with a different material is bound to be different to some degree. And that doesnt even get into the one taking the photo. SO many variables. Thanks for the sub!
@@DrDerpGamer Oh I agree. There are very few games that last 15+ years. tf2 is a legacy game. There has and always will be amazing content created by the community. I just meant some people get upset when their fav. utuber stops making content but I can understand why some creators will come and go over time. We shouldnt get upset about the people that leave but happy and enjoy all the people making and starting to create every single day. Its like my view of new tf2 players. They should be encouraged and supported. The reason the game has lasted so long are not the original 2007 players it is the new players that start playing for the first time every day:)
I really like this video, you've summed up tf2's history so well. Personally I've been playing tf2 since 2013 and I've watched a lot of tf2 content over the years! Even watching back videos from before 2013 once i started to really get into the community. I was never really upset about meet your match, as i rarely played quickplay anyway, and mostly hang out on community servers before then. However, introduction of casual caused many community servers to stop, and I've hardly played on community servers for many years now. BUT meet your match did introduce Valve Comp, and I really got into it since beta, as I was ready to step up my game and do something new and fresh. I've gotten into "real" competitive since 2018-2019 and nowadays, competitive is the only reason I still play tf2 to this day. If it weren't for comp, I would have quit tf2 a long time ago given the games current state. So in a way, the meet your match update, is the reason why I still play tf2 in 2024 :) Pretty weird in retrospect. Anyways, great video!
I never really had a pc until recently and dowloaded tf2, I was a big fan of the game since I was a child but its so sad to play the game as a begginer and realizing how much the game isnt getting updates anymore, i wish I experienced official valve updates lol.
A lot great content creators started with TF2! (For example Jerma or Technoblade) Its certainly an important point in gaming youtube history and it sucks that valve just doesn't bring new updates to it. The community maybe small but its pretty dedicated and I wish that there would be a comeback in popularity of sorts.
GREAT VIDEO!! Watching this video made me so nostalgic I swear I had the exact same laptop that i used to first play tf2 tf2 is amazing and should be given more love by valve Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this video I hope you get a million subs, you deserve it
11:12 I was a big Muselk fan in middle school (like i have the Muscle K ceral shirt still). I watched all of his tf2 content I was there when he had about 100,000 subs. I still watched his Overwatch content but then i tailed off even though i was also playing Overwatch, and then Fortnite. Fortnite has done him well and it makes perfect sense with that being his target demographic age wise. Star and Jerma moved to live streaming originally before Star really just stopped making videos. I really do miss their videos together goofing off in TF2.
@DrDerpGamer I am almost happy that they did leave because of the content vacuum they left behind. When Muselk did that video a few years back where he played, tf2 just didn't hit the same as it once did. The channels that took the place of the big dogs are far more entertaining to me now. Correct me if I'm wrong if we have statistics to hack either argument but purely based on my feeds and experiences, the TF2 community is older age wise so more content has a demographic for ~20-26 more or less while Muselk continued to build his 12-15 year old demographic.
dear derp, this here, this right here is peak! don’t get us wrong, it’s not THE peak, no, no, no we have a feeling there will be but much higher ones in your future, DrGrindGamer. cheers to your overwhelming success! - the board
*back then animations of from garrys mod, SFM was golden age in 2009-2014 era. after kitty0706 death; golden era was over it. :-( and same from kitty0706 best friend Dizztah ( team fortress 2: Scout's caps video creator ) drop making videos after 100.000 Sub Special Video. i truly miss golden age of youtube & team fortress 2 youtube. Modern Era Totaly Sucks. Old School & Classic such as STAR_ and Jerma985 Videos in early 2010s and late 2000s was masterpiece. thats why i miss it Old School & Classic.*
I can see where youre coming from, but in my opinion the content is no worse now then it was before. After all there are still videos that are made in the same vane of old school Jerma and star, youtube as a platform changed and you cant say that it changed objectivly for the worse because well. If everyone that said they loved old school content still watched content like that, thats the way that content would have stayed. But people changed, we changed. Not saying its good or bad it just is what happened. At least thats the case for me.
This video should be mandatory to watch for everyone. The story of TF2 hasn't ended, it'll just receive a new beginning. (Hopefully) Or at the very worst, it will simply persist with a small but loyal and stable base thanks to the community that will never leave. Thank you uncletopia, for your servers.
TF2 could really flourish till this day, if they fixed the cheater and bot problem. And when I mean flourish, I mean flourish in terms of player count. Half of the day the game is unplayable and when you do get a match there’s always 1 cheater that can’t get kicked because he’s subtle enough. Either way good video :)
Oh I 100% agree, Team Fortress 2's fundamentals still hold up so well and I truly think that if Valve decided to dust off their gears and work on this game in a way that they used too. It would be a BEAST not only with games but content too. I mean new Fortnite level stuff. Thanks so much for the comment!
if honesty i join tf2 late(i dont play the game, i like wacthing people play the game, looking at art and also re reading the lore idk why ) but honestly again i am impress of the community especially the animation(they always impress me) dispice the the bots i am impress how the tf2 community still standing. and the this vid sums it up. i love this vid and i hope the community still goin even all the bots and other stuff (my apology with my spelling and also ill sub because this vid made ya know made me feel move)
Youre good! Thanks for commenting, and yeah TF2s community is impressive for what they have done and while it does suck about valve, I always love coming back to the animations.
@@jexxisahuman9073 Matters the mood, if Im going serious then either story of a sentry or Legacy. For silly stuff either requiem for a pizza 2 or Pootis engage extreme.
this vid was amazing i remember when I started playing TF2 out of my own volition because I remembered as a kid it being the "big boy game" and when I got into it I was NOT expecting a whole fucking community to still be alive I thought I was a fucking boomer already even knowing abt the games existance... Glad to see it's still kicking!
watching this after the bot crisis was solved and seeing TF2's player base come back really makes me laugh, after hearing him say "TF2 is dying" and "saveTF2 didnt work". Couldn't have been more wrong. TF2 is coming back
well... no. TF2 was, dying. And further more, the original SAVETF2 was a blatant failure, but that being said. I am quite glad to see that the game is on the up again!
For me, honestly, TF2 is still very influential. But looking at all the cosmetics, bots and all that.. I'm glad i found out something similiar. Team Fortress 2 Classic, which will probably get another update soon. Really recommend you to play that, whoever is reading this.
Tbh. Kitty and Valve are the two that set a standards on TF2 animations. Be creative, drugs involved if you have to. Just enjoy making them. Minecraft and TF2, are technically the same entity.
meet the team videos got millions views but nowdays 60-100 K Players playing Daily: CSGO Trailer got 20+ Million Views but how in the earth got 35.000.000 Daily Players?! This is Ridiculous. If Team Fortress 2 had been successful in competitive play from the beginning, who knows, 700,000 players would be playing the game daily today. I don't understand how they miss such an epic. Even today's players don't even realize what they are missing. I wish I were a valve developer and could fix all these problems 24/7. and most importantly, I would listen to seniors and communities.
Whats crazy is i was gonna buy tf2 recently because i was drawn in by the animations. BUT VALVE TOOK THE ORANGE BOX OFF MICROSOFT STORES. So i cant buy the game even if i wanted to (which I definitely do want to)
Yeah it does suck but also you probably wouldnt have found too many servers to play in, so it may have just been a waste of money. Still love the other games though
I know i'm late to this video, and this comment might actually already be buried by all the previous ones made when the video released, but I want to share my story with TF2. When it released in 2007, I was 5 years old. When it became f2p in 2011, I was 8 years old. I had no stable internet access at home, I only ever got to access the internet at school in the computer labs where I'd play Papa's, or at my grandparents house where I also played Papa's and watched weird My Little Pony videos on youtube. My first taste of stable internet came in 2012 when my dad decided to open his own business. He got this big old crt from the 90's and hooked a Roku box up to it so me and my brother could watch Netflix and UA-cam while we were there, and we were at the business quite often, as my parents were always working to provide for us during this time. Mainly back then, me and my brother watched a lot of Minecraft videos. Mostly the ones by Stampy and Ssundee. But I have a faint memory of discovering a G-Mod video for the first time, and it included i think either Spy or Scout. That was my first glimpse into TF2. During this time, I also stumbled across Team Fabulous 2, and while I enjoyed it, i kind of forgot about it and Kitty for a long time. The first time we got internet in our home was 2015. I was 12 years old, and I had a tablet that I liked playing Minecraft and watching UA-cam on. At the time, I was watching mostly the same things as I did in 2012, but I ended up stumbling onto Turbulence for the very first time. I loved the short, but didn't realize where it came from. I also discovered more of the G-Mod projects at the time and thought it was all just goofy fun. The next year, 2016, was hard for me. In August of that year, I lost my grandmother to brain cancer. It was around this time I discovered a creator named STBlackST, and his TF2 videos. They absolutely cheered me up while I was grieving and processing the loss, and I continuously watched that channel and others such as Eltorro64Rus. The next milestone came in 2020, when I got my very first computer. It was the first computer to ever come into my household, and I'd saved up enough to buy it. It was $90 (CAD) on Facebook Marketplace, and could barely run anything other than Minecraft Bedrock, but I adored it. I used it to watch UA-cam and enjoy Minecraft and other very easy to run games. But eventually, I upgraded in late 2021. We were kinda homeless at the time, and had just moved into a very cheap apartment after spending the fall living out of an rv and poolhouse at my remaining grandparent's house. It was a lot more expensive than the old one, $300 (CAD) on Facebook Marketplace, but I was thrilled. I could play so many more games, including my first Valve title, G-Mod, which I used for SCP RP as that was my current hyperfixation. But I remember at the time hearing TF2 music and sound effects everywhere on the internet, I just didn't know where it came from. My next and latest computer upgrade came in November of 2023. It was $400 (CAD) on Facebook Marketplace, but it's my best computer yet. I've gotten so hard into gaming thanks to it. That brings us to one month ago, March 24th, 2024, when I got a surprise flood of TF2 SFM content on my UA-cam feed. I watched and something in me just kinda clicked. The world and characters brought me back to the simpler days. And I spent a whole week going down the hyperfixation rabbithole. I read the comics, watched the official animations, and discovered the VAs making content. Then, I downloaded the game and discovered my love for 3 classes, Engineer, Pyro, and Medic. I've been fairly hyperfixated on the game and its world and characters. Hell, I played quite a few matches in the last week as the 64 bit update and the patch after that broke the bots, and I got to experience TF2 in the way it was meant to be. I've immersed myself into the community and I feel the love that we the people have put into this game. My love for it has led to me putting together an Engineer cosplay for the local Comic Con in October. I may be the only one there cosplaying TF2, but i won't care. I'm proud to show off my love for this game. This video was very well done and I appreciate you putting it out here. Thank you, DrDerp. Fly high, Kitty and Rick. Fly High.
Thanks for sharing your story! OF course Id read this! I dont have alot to say aside from its really remarkable what this game has been able to do for so many people.
I'm more concerned about the animation side of things Like the TF2 Freaks series dying down over time (and, not really animation, but TF2 dubs also dying down) Sentence mixing or live VAing getting overshadowed in favor of AI-generated voices And the fact that most modern animations being more recreations of trending memes rather than original funnies Of course there's still good stuff, be it SFM shorts still trying to be entertaining, or non-comedic large-scale projects like Emesis Blue, STBlackST is still uploading his gold, but they're not that common as they used to be... Or maybe I'm just nostalgic for the era of TF2 animations from 2007-2018 that I didn't get to experience before it went away...
The past always seems so much better then the present, but I do tend to agree. It feels more like SFM's are made more so to hop on trends like other animation based channels tend to do. And it sucks but its a product of the time. Afterall some of the best TF2 Animations came from a time in internet history where things were more favorable to animators in general. Back when it was not retention based but click based and I get the change but its clearly had its effect of TF2 as well.
Thats not a blessing that is the BARE MINIMUM. I dont mean to shout but it can not be overstated. They make MILLIONS of dollars on this game. MONTHLY. We are not taking this for granted they are taking us for granted.
if you think about it, tf2 at its core has been the same game since 2017. we're playing like a sort of time capsule from 2017, where everything is the same but the community
Yeah, it has really been interesting to see the prolonged affects of this because alot of metas and characters have become much more standardized then they used to be. If you go back and watch videos classess changed drastically from one update to another and it made it kind of hard to really cement a standard strategy as the meta changed so rapidly. But now we've slowed down to the point where we actually know where each class lies.
I want to make videos about youtube and content creation. Particularly creators ( Im making a series on Jschlatt Live at the moment.) Stuff that would share my thoughts on the whole youtube process and hopefully re-contextualize things for both noobtubers and veterans. Sorry If you wanted me to say TF2. I do love the game and I have a couple more videos I want to eventually do but I dont intend on dipping further into the community.
What is fucking hillarious is the fact, that in 2015, I was indeed watching My Little Pony and I literally was a brony at the time. What a funny coincidence!
25:00 actually loadout forced thier game to a playstation exclusive while leaving pc gaming, there's people trying to get private servers to work with the unfinished game that was left on steam.
I like how your tone shifted with each phase of tf2, the excited tone when the game became f2p and the more serious tone when it came to bots and people leaving the community or internet. Really made the video feel like a proper timeline. Good job!
Thanks! I really tried to make it more of then just a exposition of events and more of a dynamic story of this incredible game.
Also appreciate the whiteboard/MS Paint drawings and the evolving series of hats eventually culminating in a Towering Pillar of Hats. Enough to catch attention as a good joke but not distract from the overall message of the video.
@@singleNim Thanks! It was more effort then Im willing to atmit but Im so happy with how it came out!

I totally agree, it feels like the shoes that they left were so big yet so inspirational that its left alot of room for others to prosper

Couldnt have said it better myself
im sorry if i come off rude, but, its actually sfm (stands for "source film maker" & source is the engine its in)
holy shit... that 2015 montage literally gave me chills. What great memories... 😢
You love to hear it, I wanted it to feel as impactful to others as it was to me.
The empahsis in your voice and the editing helps me understand your perspective better, thank you dude
Thanks so much! I really tried to make it more distinct to flow better and be more impactful, so thanks for noticing!
i'm kinda surprised you didn't mention the VA's doing some shenanigans with the community, and also the 64bit update. from a technical standpoint, that update is HUGE. whether or not it'll lead to any more official content from VALVe is to be seen, but, still, it unlocks a lot of potential and even increases its lifespan! otherwise, great vid on the history of TF2 and its lifespan. i can't wait to tell my grandkids about how back in 2023 i chainstabbed about 7 people in a row on the point on nucleus, only for them to reply with "what the sigma is bro yappin about" or some other alien language
Can't wait to tell my grandchildren how I stuffed a giant crits heavy with one tick of the medic shield and a critted pocket heavy up its ass

Man I love TF2 so much, I never want it to end to be honest, its still my favorite thing to this day, and I believe it has so much potential still, it just needs a little more love.
I still create maps for it, have ever since 2012, and I dont plan on stopping any time soon, as long as I continue to play it (or we get TF3)
Great video!
thank you so much! I agree it definatly needs more attention but props to you for making maps for it! Thats really cool and is probably doing a whole lot more for the game then the developers are right now. Thanks!
YOOO I SAW THAT FUNKE REFERENCE YOU PUT IN THERE, NIIIIIIICCCCCEEEEEEEE

Well done with this one, truly.
thank you so much, it really does mean alot.
I swear if I see another "TF2 is a timeless MASTERPEICE" Or "Why TF2 will NEVER die" video im gonna commit war crimes.
I can not tell if this is a critism on my video or just most TF2 videos at this point but yeah me too. I tried to make it so that its not really about tf2 and more about the cotent creation side of things but I can see if someone were to say that I am just rephrasing this overdone topic... I wouldnt agree but I could atleast see it.
evil tf2ber be like: why tf2 will ALWAYS die
@@MarBL23563 Valve is the best game developer!
I honestly don’t even know if tf2 will get a new major update like jungle inferno but if it does I guarantee it will be made by the community, voted by the community, and cherished by the community. (If we do I really hope it’s the heavy update)
Sadly this is probably very true
*THANK YOU* for being the first content creator (that I know of) to acknowledge that TF2 is still alive and kicking, despite Valve's abandonment. There are so many community creations like animations, and games, which are being made on a daily basis. I, personally, joined the community quite late (around 2021, I would say), but despite the radio silence from Valve, and the bots slowly destroying TF2 from the inside out, an entire server kill binding in one pile is just as funny as it always has been. I won't say that TF2 will *never* die, but it's gonna last quite a while longer.
I totally agree, its not like its immortal, but its got a whole lot of life left in it.
mostly Valve Developers did left behind us and they never tell about truths in 2018.
Valve could do the bare minimum when it would come to content since the community makes so many awesome Guns, Skins, Hats and Maps its just so dumb they dont even bother looking in TF2 direction. They could just hold a vote on what should be added and reward the creators with something and bam you got a content update.
Yeah there definatly is so many options that valve isnt taking and it really sucks that they are choosing none of them
your story on how you found tf2 hits close to home as to how similar it is. i quite literally also shared a laptop with my brother as we both played tf2. while he's way more of a fan than i was, 30 dollars was impossible to come by as a 13 year old so minecraft was out of the question. tf2 has filled me with joy over the years and the recent content of the game is so fascinating to watch now that i have my own eye for content creation. great video !
Thanks so much! I get that 100%. Most games were expensive and bizzarely 10 year old me didnt have the cash for them so TF2 was a great outlet!
As someone who has over 2,000 hours in it and I started in 2020 I enjoyed the video
You love to hear it!
I cried at the end of this video, TF2 has had such a profound effect on me as an individual its hard to comprohend!
And I the same. Its a game that has shaped me in ways that I cant even describe and its sad to see where its at now
I've seen this one dude named "BackInMyDayProductions" they are a strange case, their TF2 vids replicated 2008 TF2 vids even if...

Super epic comment. Yeah its such a weird phenomenon that more people know the characters then have played the game but still I think thats a testament to the games character. And yeah, its cool to see what people have to say on my vid and if someone went out of their way to engage with my content I feel the least I can do is engage with them alittle bit you know?
really well edited video, been seeing a lot of stuff like this recently. probably bc glitch and other similar things inspiring creators to work hard.

Thank you for the feed back though!
the "nearly old enough to vote" line hit be like a truck holding 80 pounds of bricks
Its crazy isnt it?

Yeah its really weird there are abuunch of iconic tf2 animations that were litterally just the last thing someone posts, its kind of funny.
I agree, I loved that ol 2015 era of TF2 UA-cam but I do really like the new stuff

I'm fairly new to Tf2 but holy crap the community is largely and refreshingly quality over quantity. I remember specifically watching Hintshots video about the Your Eternal Reward for spy (watch it even if for the production alone) and it kinda clicked how much effort and passion is put into the game by it's community
Without the mainstream hype, tf2 being the quiet community it is, means there's luckily not many cloutchasers tryna make a quick buck. Most are just incredibly passionate people, supporting each other and bonding through the shared misery of bots and Valves negligence
Yeah its kind of refreshing!
Damn another reminder that the 2010s were the best years to be living in. A Video so well crafted, how could you not shed a tear
You love to hear it, I hope I can atleast make the 2020's a bit more digestible even if its only for a few people.
But anyways, I do rewatch some of the older stuff and it does bring a tear to my eye thinking like Kitty could've been one of the great animators/artist.

and second of all. There are SO MANY TF2 UA-camRS. If I had to leave out some pretty big players to make it so that it was all going to fit in a way that didnt feel bloated.

I think TF2 is just an infinitely fun game, and as long as its fun there will always be things to talk about and joy to spread. We are a self sustaining community now, estrange from the developers. How many game communities can say they have that privilege?
You know I cant think of even one other game that sustains its self quite as sucessfully as TeamFortress 2's has
The game i play more than any other. I've met some really good friends, on a 24/7 2fort server believe it or not.
@@davidmacdonald1855 I agree!
Thanks so much! Its great to see the different effects that different things can have and Im happy that MYM helped at least one person
I never really had a pc until recently and dowloaded tf2, I was a big fan of the game since I was a child but its so sad to play the game as a begginer and realizing how much the game isnt getting updates anymore, i wish I experienced official valve updates lol.
Yeah, me too. I didnt really get to play it properly untill later after MYM but still with the 64 bit update its been pretty fun!

Of course!
I totally agree, its such a beloved game that means so much to so many and it sucks that valve cant be bothered to at least make it playable.

Yeah me too, I agree. But its good for each creator to grow in their own way I guess.

Even today's players don't even realize what they are missing. I wish I were a valve developer and could fix all these problems 24/7. and most importantly, I would listen to seniors and communities.
Yeah but thats not really the reality we got to live in.
great video man! (btw im drunks rn)
You love to hear it (thank you for the intell)
Good vid man
Good Comment man
I'm more concerned about the animation side of things
Like the TF2 Freaks series dying down over time (and, not really animation, but TF2 dubs also dying down)
Sentence mixing or live VAing getting overshadowed in favor of AI-generated voices
And the fact that most modern animations being more recreations of trending memes rather than original funnies
Of course there's still good stuff, be it SFM shorts still trying to be entertaining, or non-comedic large-scale projects like Emesis Blue, STBlackST is still uploading his gold, but they're not that common as they used to be...
You have to admit, the fact that the TF2 servers are still even up is a blessing that the community seems to ignore.
Thats not a blessing that is the BARE MINIMUM.
I dont mean to shout but it can not be overstated. They make MILLIONS of dollars on this game. MONTHLY. We are not taking this for granted they are taking us for granted.
Decently easy to use?SFM. Props to anyone new to the software that sticks with it because it is pain to use nowadays.
Compared to some other stuff SFM really isnt that difficult to use. Now... Making something thats really good? Thats a different story.
We are too busy to die.
if you think about it, tf2 at its core has been the same game since 2017. we're playing like a sort of time capsule from 2017, where everything is the same but the community
Yeah, it has really been interesting to see the prolonged affects of this because alot of metas and characters have become much more standardized then they used to be. If you go back and watch videos classess changed drastically from one update to another and it made it kind of hard to really cement a standard strategy as the meta changed so rapidly. But now we've slowed down to the point where we actually know where each class lies.
yellow hat guy sure has changed since curious george left
Got to make a living some how
What future videos do you plan to make?
I want to make videos about youtube and content creation. Particularly creators ( Im making a series on Jschlatt Live at the moment.) Stuff that would share my thoughts on the whole youtube process and hopefully re-contextualize things for both noobtubers and veterans. Sorry If you wanted me to say TF2. I do love the game and I have a couple more videos I want to eventually do but I dont intend on dipping further into the community.
What is fucking hillarious is the fact, that in 2015, I was indeed watching My Little Pony and I literally was a brony at the time. What a funny coincidence!
Who wasnt? ALso nice pfp, dipper is one of my favorite characters
What the? How this video got so little views?
dunno
25:00 actually loadout forced thier game to a playstation exclusive while leaving pc gaming, there's people trying to get private servers to work with the unfinished game that was left on steam.
I had not realized that, that really sucks!
