I just bought an '09 Fit as My new daily, and bought it specifically as something I would NEVER build as a project... And now here we are ruining my plans to be responsible.
@@lamesamelame I never mentioned a K swap though. I'm just talking about modifying in general. Just focus on suspension and you can really enjoy these cars every day and not notice a different in MPGs
@@lamesamelame Indeed Mine is a manual and It can EASILY get high 30's to 41 or so with a light foot. IF, I were ever to do ANY mods to the car, it would essentially be to do exactly what the guys in this video did; build a "Super" Honda Fit that actually has some power. I already find that the car handles exceptionally well for what it is, though the brakes are pretty feeble. But I sure would like the car about 1000% more if it actually put a grin on my face every time I stabbed the throttle, ESPECIALLY if swapping it didn't kill mileage.
Furthermore, I specifically bought this car as an alternative to my 500whp crew cab Squarebody Chevy Dually. I've only had the car a little over a month and I guarantee I've already saved over $300 in fuel costs, likely more...
Now that we've got this banquet of K Swapped Fit content all in one convenient place, all we need now is an update as to how the project is going. Did Brian sell the car? Did he ever get the A/C working again? Will it ever make it back to the dyno? We need an update because the only other source we have that's current is from Mark at HondaStreetGarage and that video was epic, especially watching him drop the engine from under the car and get the new one in WITHOUT using a lift. Give us an update Brian, please!
Dude I’ve been wondering the the same thing I have 2007 fit sport manual and I been waiting to see them get the ac working but there’s 2 brothers on UA-cam who have shown compete build step by step and I know for the ac ur gonna have to get custom lines
Hey Brian! Dont know if you remember me, Long Island 2007-8 ish we were working together on the wiring double ECU's for Kswapping GD Honda Fit's! Went with a cable throttle conversion and i had A/C running. What a time in life that was!
I was thinking this too, cuz I wasn't sure how to integrate with the chassis. I'd just double up on the sensors and use a full standalone to run the engine. Can't wait to see what the correct solution is.
Thank you for the awesome video and research. I think there are many of us who would also love to see a video a ge8 with a k24a2 swap. I understand that there is the “A” plug that needs to be totally repented. However, it would still be interesting to see what type of header and other details would be needed to complete the swap.
I thought the 09-14 TSX engine came with EPS, at 49:40 it’s mentioned that the PS pump was removed….. so is this an Accord engine that was used ? since those engines do have PS.
You guys should get another fit and do a multi part video series on preparing a car for the Sunday cup, and making it competitive. I bet it would get a lot of views
Well they made the sport, what percentage of fits out there sold base vs. sport? Specifically, how many manual sport fits are out there? Not many. Yeah I agree it's cool, but the people that would enjoy it don't buy new cars. It's our own fault.
I'm surprised when you had the motor open you didn't put a slightly more aggressive cam, home made port and polish, new springs and retainers, and lightweight flywheel to counteract those long gears. Either way great video
Brian mentioned using TL type S cables from that car's manual, but they were slightly long without affecting shift quality. Mark from HondaStreetGarage I believe had a pair commissioned from Hybrid Racing, but they're not actually in production. And his car is a 6-speed from the 2012 Civic Si.
@@Snicker60515 I actually caught one of their live episodes and they answered. They used J series shifter cables from 03-07 accord, shortened the cable that goes to the back and forth, threaded the end and screwed on a rod end. definitely a bridge I'll just cross when I get to it, paying hybrid racing might just be the easy way out. I've got most of the build planned, but waiting on another car to sell to fund the K-swap.
@@nicholasbrouwer2317 nice! I wish I could catch those streams, but I never have enough time. Have fun on the project! Maybe you'll be the next to share your successful Kswap results!
I have a fit sport and yes its faster than the non sport there is an actual sport option where you can manually shift with the paddles make it spin the tires easily with traction control off of course
I'm going to do that when Hybrid Racing shifters come back in stock in July and I can get one for my Fit along with the cable bushings and detent springs. 😅😎
1:37:58 Part of why that is so thin is to absorb impact energy and "crumple", So not only could you make it thinner and cheaper, You Should. Just because it better matches the factory metals energy absorption characteristics. Im sure he knows this if he thought about it. Our initial thinking is usually, thicker, stronger, safer, but in the car crash world, metal that Gives and transfers energy and bends AROUND the occupant is more Much desirable. Yes it does make them less "strong" in the traditional sense but not at all any less safe...in fact, it makes them safer... Science!
Nice video Brian also what a question I have a Da 1990 that has a tucked obd1 engine harness dizzy and obd1 ecu but it's missing a connection on the sub harness what can I do to get that done obd0 to obd1 ?
You actually have to go to the dealership to re-flash the ECU? Is there any DIY solution to get around that? That seems like the biggest hassle of this entire process...
I'm planning on doing a complete k24z7 si swap for a customer and you mentioned the TSX ECU is not compatible with the AC in the fit but couldn't understand if you ment the si ECU works with the AC or not?
Also wondering if the L15b7 swap is worth it after Axion Industries did it. It seems the interests around it is dead, but GK Fit K swap should definitely be a focus.
Is it possible to purchase that redesigned rear mount bracket alone? I will be road racing my CRZ and already have the complete old kit. Thanks for the great content!
Question: Why is this considered 'Si' compared to Type R? I want to put the red Honda badge on mine, and I also want the Type R badge on it, but not if it doesn't deserve it, y'know?
@@masonchase085 I think I'm just going to stick 'em on, anyway. As far as I can tell, it's mostly about how stiff the suspension is, but also a little bit how it's tuned. There are a few other little details, but they're so model-specific, a custom K-Fit with stiff suspension might as well be a Type-R.
Does anyone know if a L15B7 swap into the GE8 would be a difficult one? I know Hasport has been working on the mounts and Hondata has been hinting a lot info on their l15b7 swapped crz. Aside from axles, what else would potentially be a barrier from getting it done? Would be ideal to retain all luxurious as well including A/C
Agree this would be an excellent option. The first thing I did when I bought mine was to see if the trans bolt pattern was the same or if a head swap was an option. Sadly both answers were 'no'
Probably about the same as before, considering that the Fit is still only weighing in at 2600 lbs and the K24 engine is naturally going to be running lower revs at highway speed. I used to have a 2000 J30a Accord and on highway slogs it would average about 28-30mpg if I kept it under 70mph. And with the long ratios of the Accord 5-speed they installed you could easily see this car topping 40mpg no sweat. Only issue is that with the K24Z3 a fillup(Premium) is going to be closer to $40 rather than say the $33 my Fit filled up with this morning.

It's honestly the best way to build something fun without sacrificing daily driveability. I dailied mine in racecar form for over 2 years.
