As a British paratrooper I am so proud of those who went before us. Thank you to Holland for looking after our brothers. I visited Overloon this june to pay my respects to an english paratrooper who had died after escaping from the germans after capture in Arnhem. His soul rests in a lovely part of Holland. Thank you Overloon.
so proud - My uncle Thomas John MacDonald is buried in OosterBeck - As a Scottish Paratrooper he was 29 when he was killed in Operation Market Garden. The local Dutch people still keep the graves of the fallen Soldiers tended so well. What a fantastic turnout for the pipes and drums by the people of Arnhem.
I probably watch this video at least once a month! I was 50m down the bridge approach watching the march past. Brought tears to my eyes. 2 Para, the battalion that held the bridge for 4 days, is based in my home town of Colchester UK.
I got back late on September 24th after 10ndays in the low countries to attend commemorations for the 75th anniversary of market garden, as well as to pay my respects to my relative Reg Broome, South Staffordshire regt buried at Oosterbeek. I was on the bridge to watch this march past. Love the pipes and drums. Notice the vets and the two Chelsea pensions coming up at the rear. Lest we forget!
Mass pipes and drums always stirs our blood as Scottish man would send us into battle against anyone we are a race of people never been mastered by anyone and never will be 🏴🏴🏴
On Remembrance Day in Canada, I think of a paternal grandfather Edward Clarke killed in WWI (1916). He has no known grave so is commemorated on on the Vimy Monument. My mother's cousin Harold Dingman was killed less than a month after D Day during the Normandy Campaign. Both were serving with Canadian regiments. How many pipers were playing there?
The first tune is called 'Killworth Hills' and the second tune is 'Bloody Fields of Flanders'. I was one of the drum majors that evening in front of the Massed Pipes and Drums Market Garden
British military bands are the best in the world..my great..great..great uncle Charlie buried here German sniper took him out getting off boat heroes all of them

Allways a very,, very impressive sound to hear `the Pipes` playing like this.
Hear that skrell of the pipes and drum beat of marching? Never fear. You are safe. We have come.

It was the Canadian who liberated Arnhem in1945, not the british❤😢
Wrong. It was the 45 West Riding Division, supported by the Canadian armoured Division.
Almost 1500 paras died and over 6500 were captured
Serouisly. I think England done ok. Ask yourself why.
Kilworth Hills my least favourite pipe tune, it just goes on and on!
I didn't realise that It was only scotsmen who took part
Guess you weren't there
Point us the part where it says that? The fact is there were pipers their during the battle!
The vast majority of the paras came from Scots regiments thick bit
@@keithlordofalbascotland3371you need to ya facts right sonny. Typical small time Scot.
Get over your nationalistic crap, it was BRITAIN that went war, in case you didn't know that was English, Scots, Welsh and Irish. Does that help?
Sadly it was a bridge too far 😞🇬🇧 lest we forget.
