Good luck. The abundant food seems to be back in that boulder environment so the trout shouldn't be far behind. Hope you get a good one. They are waiting for you!
Go when it's cold. I've hit macks in 20 feet of water and even less in Tahoe. When the weather is warmer, look for the deeper water off spots like the area near chimney beach. They are there. You can get one.
Well, the next time you come you can expand your target list in the area from clips on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist, backcountry lakes and creeks' playlist, and rivers playlist. If you live far away you need to make the most out of every time you come out this way!
Armani...I loved this video. Nice rainbow! and beyond the fish itself, you go on to explain the thought process you have in the decision-making process...well done again!
Glad you liked it. Yeah, I always move my stuff around based on assumptions on where I think the fish will be. Figured that kind of info could be useful.
@@wildernesswithamani1027 it is a good time of year to point out that the fish are not always out in the deep areas, as far as you can cast. I always was interested in the times when ice out brought the big ones to the top. Anyway, I sure liked the way you explained your thought process on what you were doing and why. Really cool video my friend!
Ha Ha, I love watching all your acrobatics when you catch a fish on those rocks. Have you tried setting your moves to music? Good fishing always exciting and entertaining. It is good to see snow on the Sierras. I hope that deters the fires.
The only music I have in my videos are my highlight clips which are all music. I am actually getting ready to put up highlight clip #10 in a day or two. Now that I will have 10 videos on my 'highlight clip' playlist, that will probably be the last one until next Fall or Winter. They take a lot of effort to make and I won't have the time until then.
Have you ever tried using a yellow garlic marshmallow with that night crawler ? Some locals out there put me and my dad onto it at cave rock probably 25 plus years ago. Havnt fished the lake for a long time usually stay in the rivers but the worm marshmallow combo worked awesome.
I like to just inflate the full crawler because it looks natural. Those big rainbows seem to like them. That's what I get a lot of the larger trout on in the clips on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist.
You had me laughing the entire video. I love your enthusiasm for fishing and don't you know that about the time you start doing something besides monitoring your fishing rod such as sleeping/snoring is a guarantee that "fish on".
Right! I've been fishing so many times when I hadn't gotten a bite all day and as soon as I walk away or doze off , Wham! They hit. Glad you like the video. Already have hundreds like it across my channel playlist but I'm just getting started. At least that's the plan!
Awesome video, great rainbow! You handle those rocks like a mountain gear! Your Great Blue Heron impression had me laughing hard! You are so right about the snow, I know your getting impatient, but I don't get tired of watching you catch big trout, wherever you are! Thanks again for a stellar video!
Thank you Amani for another exciting chapter of fishing! I think your channel is the most informative and "real" on YT. For a disabled person like me, at least I can live vicariously through your videos!
Right on. I'll be taking you into the high country in the not too distant future. I plan to head down to the Eastern Sierra in the not too distant future so I can survey the snow situation. Glad you enjoy the adventures. Hopefully there will be a lot more to come. At least that's the plan!
I have a couple catch and cooks on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist and I have a few videos on my 'variety' playlist where I cook fish different ways shortly after catching them. Cooking just isn't my thing. Catching, that's another story!
Amani..I look forward to your next video..as a teen, 50+ years ago, I used to fish Lake Davis and Frenchman Lakes a few times during the year..usually the Trout opener, Memorial Day Weekend, a family camping trip and opening week of Deer Hunting..a lot of good memories are brought back….right now, I’m predominantly a winter steelhead and ocean salmon guy…it’s close, and the fish are big..LOL
I have a few clips for Davis and one for Frenchmen on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist. several years back, I heard they killed everything in Davis to get rid of Northern Pike but it seems that the fishery has come roaring back. Last time I was there a couple months back I hit some real nice rainbows. I am ready to hit the Eastern Sierra so I can get a sense when I can start hiking into the backcountry.
Those fish cruising by where well within range of throwing an assortment of artificial offerings. Once there are a lot of people swimming and more boat activity on the water those fish might only show up in the real early morning. Definitely has me thinking.
I mostly just like to kick back when I'm fishing in Tahoe. I get enough good fish doing it where I'll stay on that lazy road. I spend enough time fishing artificial stuff in the many dozens of videos across my channel playlists dealing with rivers and fishing in the backcountry. I'll be back at it real soon.
Right on. I have hundreds like it across my channel playlist. Different types of trout fishing and other topics but I'm always right in the middle of it all practically screaming!
For cruising trout I prefer to jig 1/8 ounce tube jigs. Depending on the wind I'll just use the jig or throw a bobber a few feet above it and simply dance it back. When the fish are actively hunting you'll be surprised how agressively they strike.
I do enough jig fishing in rivers and backcountry lakes. I like to spend my days at Lake Tahoe kicking back and soaking bait. I typically only fish 1/8 OZ marabou jigs in most of the clips across my two channel playlists dealing with river fishing. I love the light tube jigs for Alpine lakes. Money.
Get up there and give it a shot. I have found that when the Lake has the most boating and swimming on it happening during the warmest months, getting out there at the crack of dawn is key. During the colder months and when the water is frigid from snow melt, I usually roll out there at around 8 or 9 and I do ok. Hope you make it out. Good luck.
If you go to the Nevada fish and wildlife regulation guide online, Lake Tahoe is in the Western Region Special regulation section. My understanding is that either State License is good on the lake but I always recommend that viewers confirm all regulations for themselves.
Don't have a trap and just haven't gotten around to it. I see people using them at Cave rock state park. I do good with powerbait and inflated crawlers. Have a bunch of Tahoe clips on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist where I am pulling nice trout out with consistency. Regular luck with stuff I just toss out and soak makes me lazy!
Hay Amani I will be headed up there this weekend where would you recommend I try my lunch fishing from shore? Will be bringing the kids out maybe two days if it goes well .
There is a lot of food in the boulders close to shore, minnows and crawdads, so I would say give it a shot. I'm not sure where on the lake you would be. Cave Rock State Park is easy, Logan shoals vista point is solid. On the California side that pebble beach spot off the 89 I have clips up for is real easy but I am assuming there will be sunbathers and swimmers this time of year. The spot I fished in the clip from last week a mile up from Sand Harbor is solid. Just find water with public access that's at least 10 feet deep with some boulders. That's where the rainbows should be feeding. Good luck.
Greetings Amani I am up here in Tahoe now; Kings beach.. We will be taking two young children fishing hopefully catch their first fish!!! Getting out late today tho but we will see how it goes!
@@henrywagebr9892 Kings Beach is really shallow. If you drive down the shore until the 89 follows the shoreline after you pass the Truckee outflow, you will come upon the pebble beach I have two clips for. It's tough to secure your rod on that beach against losing it to a big trout. If there are people sunbathing/swimming, go a little farther up the road (mile or less) and there is a bike path with spots you can fish easily off of rocks. There is a picnic table at a couple of them. good luck.
Hey Amani, ever thought about organizing a guided trip? Would love to get my kids out there for couple of days. I am in Auburn area and I fish up and down 80 but not had much luck.
I'm not suited to be a guide. I try to show my viewers as much as I can to help them catch fish. That's what I put all of the clips on my 'trout fishing tips' playlist. It's hard enough for me to figure out how to catch fish from spot to spot. I'd feel real bad if someone paid me and they got skunked. I hate getting skunked myself!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 Love your feedback. I am just trying to take the kids out and show them different methods. Will make them watch more vid I guess..
Always a good day when your lines in the water! A nap makes every trip better! Great stuff man. I think I’m headed to tahoe this sat also.
Good luck. The abundant food seems to be back in that boulder environment so the trout shouldn't be far behind. Hope you get a good one. They are waiting for you!
Amani, yours is one of the few channels I followed. Never fished at Tahoe but one day gonna catch my first Mackinaw.

What a gorgeous view!
It was incredible out there. You feel tiny sitting on the edge of that massive lake.
Can’t wait to come back out here . I wish I didn’t live so far away from Tahoe .

The meat was dark pink. The damage on that dorsal fin looked like something big took a shot at that fish. It was torn and missing a chunk.

minnows on a bobber is what we used back in the 70s worked good in the evenings
There were tons of minnows swimming in the boulders. No doubt they would be deadly if fished under a float of some sort.
Amani rock dancing with the pole in one hand!
I map everything out before I start fishing. I know where I can step, jump, or simply do what needs to be done to land a fish!

Killer pink meat in that fish.
I trust your take on that.
I myself will never know because I just cannot bring myself to eat fish.
Nice fish super entertaining video to watch 👏
When you said giant lake trout bit the fin off what kind of trout are you talking about.
Lake Trout are those Mackinaw I get in some clips. They get huge in Lake Tahoe. 20+ pounder could go for that big meal! Huge teeth.
Amani, what time of day did you start?
I got out there about 8:30 but didn't get my stuff in the water until 8:45.. Hit the fish around noon.
Nice catch. I am planning to check Lake Valley this weekend. The snow should be gone now there.
Stuff will start opening soon. It's going to warm up next week again. Good luck.
