I don't know what it is, but I really like hearing Biffo speak about his past on teletext and writing for kids TV and stuff. he has a way with words that just makes me want to listen and the nostalgia factor just adds to it. My parents are aliens was my favourtie show as a wee nipper and to know that Biffo wrote on it makes it even better!!
Oh boy this was an interesting one! I loved teletext back in the day, big nostalgic part of my childhood. Glad to hear some people are preserving it/compiling it and knowing that it's possible through old recorded tapes blows my mind.
Best episode yet! You three have great chemistry together. Would love to see Stu and Barry pop up occasionally in the current version of Digitiser, maybe have Stu bring some of his favorite tatty Popstations and torment Biffo and Barry by subjecting them to the amazing "gameplay" of those devices.
Mr Biffo is a true man's man, If I ever met him I would buy him a pint of bitter because he looks like man of taste... I remember when Sooty got leg's, I laughed my arse off...
In the mythical country of Finland (where I live) we still have teletext available. Weirdly, YLE (our BBC equivalent) made it possible to use the teletext over the internet which seems a bit pointless.
I recall when I worked at McDonald's a long time ago, there were dark meat nuggets and white meat nuggets, and you could tell them apart by the texture of the breading.
Very interesting podcast, very interesting about the Teletext preservation. Incredibly funny...now what I need to know is does the 18 yr old get the "I love bums" tattoo
Even though i had to correct him in 1 of his recent uploads (Sega Saturn, Die Hard Arcade) i still think Mr Biffo is 1 top bloke & i thoroughly enjoyed this podcast.
Ahh.. Now I vaguely remember what teletext was after hearing Stuart's explanation. It was I believe around 1995 when my parents bought a new TV set that supports teletext.
Ah, The great and legendary Mr.Biffo! I just love to listen to his stories about his life, his work/creations and of course, Digitizer. Since I grew up in the US I never got the chance to experience Digitizer or anything Teletex. I honestly didn't even know what Teletex was or that it even existed until I read about it a few years back. So having the opportunity now, to learn and experience Digitizer, both in it's original Teletex form and the new show, is simply amazing. The best way I'd describe this feeling would be, like the feeling an archeologist gets when accidentally stumbling upon the existence of a long lost underground civilization of mole men or maybe, an art dealer discovering the great works of Da'vinci's previously unknown, more talented twin brother Frank Da'vinci who was hidden away in an attic and kept secret by his family for his entire life for reasons that are now lost to time. Is it even possible to have nostalgia for something you never actually have memories of, or even knew existed until recently. If so, is there a word for something like that..? Pseudo-nostalgia, maybe? But if there isn't a word or name for that particular experience, I will give it one now and it shall be.... Splook!! As in "After finding out about this very old book yesterday and giving it a good read, I was overwhelmed with a sense of Splook." or " Even though Sally never heard of or watched that TV show before, it really gave her a warm Splooking feeling whenever it was brought up"
(Don't tell anyone, but if you filmed on a modern smartphone at like 4K and didn't say anything, no one would know any different. UA-cam's compression is so aggressive and modern phones so passable these days that as long as your lighting is OK most people would need a side-by-side comparison to see the difference. Just don't use them in low light conditions, because that's when their quality falls off a cliff.)
I thought that I'd butt in here, and apologize for telling someone, in all seriousness, for telling someone that the 'Plymouth Hoe' was a slatternly woman who'd do anything for a tenner round the back of Smeaton's old lighthouse. To the inhabitants of that fine city, which was treated terribly by the Luftwaffe, and then considerably worse by developers, I am truly sorry. Nice to see Mr Biffo, too. Your guest calibre remains satisfyingly high. The Pringles tube thing, though. If you put on Arsebook 'Come to the Shoot Yourself In The Face With A Nailgun' Weekender, I expect someone would turn up. And no. It's not a 'Thing'. Punks. New Pringles #abitshitactually Mr Biffo, the thing you are talking about at the 36:00 mark, is called a 'Swozzle', and is traditionally used by Punch and Judy men.
@@cortos_9733 you have clearly never been here. Germany has probably the only culture where they recognize and actively remember the crimes that were committed here. I wasn't born here but went to school here. I also went to school in the UK a few years in-between and can't remember the UK teaching what they did to people during the colonial times.

Who knew Mr Biffo wrote so many of my childhood shows. He has been controlling us from birth
He’s brainwashed us at a tender age 😂
8:41 I love how Biffo proudly makes the exact same Poppy May Landem joke Stuart made just moments before
Dammit! Show's how closely I was paying attention to Stuart ;-P
We love you Biffo! This was a great episode. :) Love all these guys, classic British UA-camrs! Keep up the great work.
Love youuuuu!

I too would love that.
Love Mr. Biffo! Seems like a sorted dude.I'd buy him a glass of the favourite drink of the day any time :))
I had a poem published on Teletext in Ireland when I was 11 years old
I once saw a hedge
Best guest and best Barshens! Bloody funny!
My Parents are Aliens was my favourite programme growing up. It felt like it ran for my whole childhood.
Wow Mr Biffo's had such a cool career I'm really happy he's doing what he wants to do these days and with such great guests!
Loved the bamboozle quiz :) used to play it with my grandparents.
great video guys. loved it. thanks to all involved.
Biffo is a human champion.
Mr Biffo is a true man's man, If I ever met him I would buy him a pint of bitter because he looks like man of taste...
I remember when Sooty got leg's, I laughed my arse off...
Love to see Ol Biffo.Cant wait to see the next series of Digitizer the show, whatever title it comes under.
I loved My Parents are Aliens, I remember that was on CITV
MR. BIFFO YYYEEEEAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!
We still use teletex in Iceland. It's pretty nice for getting flight updates
18:46 "...and then from there to telesex..." Secret Biffo career?!
I was waiting for Biffo to come back on here!

I love these videos!!! I really miss bars vs hens!!

I'm having my I love Biffo tattoo changed to I love Bums now.
I never see it mentioned but biffovision is worth a watch too.

There's still teletex in Portugal! Great podcast!!
Wish I grew up watching kid shows with Mister Biffo involved.
Biffo looks like a super model in the thumbnail
Wasn't the Sweep cardboard mouth thing called a swazzle? Used for those awful Punch and Judy shows too...

Superb stuff 👍
"In The Night Garden"? I have nightmares about the Pontypines and Wottingers. The way they move, man...it's pure nightmare-fuel.

I miss Teletext :( I guess it was the internet of its day in some ways, loved Digitiser, Mega-Zine, Bamboozle and the It Makes Me Mad page :D
Omg guys I'm the Bristol guy
I don't get the Wembley stadium one, could anyone explain what has transpired on text? :o
I wrote "Guy Sports" instead of "Sky Sports".
Ah, no - sorry. That was just what I heard. I was trying not to give away what they'd actually said.
Yes, because that's what I thought they'd said.
I'll second Barry's suggestion - you really should watch Mr Biffo's Found Footage here on UA-cam, brilliant stuff.
Yes, you all should...!
And thus Five nights at McDonald’s was born

The shocking revelation that Stuart was Kowalski
Lobster claws and a big bulbous head... Stuart played Kowalski?!
Jeez I remember my parents are aliens and it was weird

Yeah, suffice to say... we learned that lesson after Series 1 of Digitiser. But thank you.
I hate the texture of Pringles too
Time for jimmety James!
What are you talking about I heard that EastEnders is very popular in vatican City
When Biffo takes his name of something due to him thinking it is inappropriate then it probably shouldn't be broadcast.
Bring back Bars vs Hens.
But does Norwich have free parking, like Nailsea?
Please get jimminy James on
