the infamous 82-83 tour (several dates barely sold or canceled) was, nevertheless, the blueprint of their 83.93 tours

I can't pin point what it is, but concert video footage from a regular news starion just like this is very precious. It is a historical document and for so many reasons. Thank you for posting this.

Wow what a cool news report. I had tickets for the canceled Providence show, 6th row. After the show got called off I had to return the tickets for Worcester tickets, only problem being was instead of having 6th row tickets I now had 2nd
row from the top of the balcony. I was devastated but still a great show !!

I had 6th Row for Worcester so I was lucky it wasn't the other way around.

This was during KISS's low period, when a Puppet show headlined over KISS. "Tonight: Puppet Show and KISS!"

Very well done report, it didn't just focus on the canceled Kiss show, but other aspects as to why concerts were not so profitable in the early 80's, very rare for an 80's Kiss report to not be cringe worthy, excellent piece!

I caught the Rochester, NY show that same week, my first big rock concert. The War Memorial was half sold but it didn't matter, they blew the roof off that motherfucker anyway. And I was on mescaline to boot. 🔥

Yes. I was from upstate NY too. Lots of mescaline. Almost went to the Glens Falls gig but waited for a closer show. It never happened.!! Your lucky.

14 million dollar state of the art facility in 1971. Fifty years later that wouldnt pay a mediocre NBA players salary for a season

When the walkman came out people didn't give a shit about records and then more genres in music like rap was going to take over the world. Video games were taking over too.

u can thank jimmy carter for the shitty economy then. He drove it into the ground from 1976- 1980.. Reagan then came in and got things going in the right direction, but it takes a couple/ few years to see it.
KISS wouldve canceled the show in St Louis too, but all the proceeds were to be given to a local boy with cancer whose parents were poor so, the show went on.. I was at that show, and I don't care what the official number recorded was, but there was only 1,000 ppl there in that hall (Kiel Auditorium) that held 12,000. The hall was literally empty, and it was so depressing to me- and no Ace.. The Plasmatics opened for them, and a lot of ppl were there to see them- not KISS.
I walked away from that show thinking this was the end of KISS. Back then bands never lasted more than 10 yrs, and this was the 10th Anniversary Tour, Creatures- Peter had left, and now Ace was gone too. It was a dark time. I was already a depressed teenager, and this just added to it.. I had seen KISS on Dynasty tour a few yrs prior as a 12 yr old, and there's no comparison. The 20,000 seat arena was full for Dynasty, and the show was full of color n excitement. The contrast was stark. So depressing

Vinnie was really talented and he brought in a harder rocking sound to Kiss (Creatures of the Night and Lick it Up) but Ace will always be Ace.
