just a little tip, if you stick the mast up between some tree branches , it wil stay up and work very wel also. and no need for "trip wire's " :) 73 PB1RWZ
The park bench and shock cord would be fine as long as you have the mast guyed about half way up. I just used a hose clamp and clamped the ends of 3 lengths of para cord to the mast...the length of each paracord should be whatever you need to guy it securely . In other words all three would be the same length. So you could bungee the mast, extend it, then peg the ends of the paracord in 3 places. It works for me.

I was using a dx commander 10m pole Lashed to a bench with a 40m band vertical wire and a ground tuning unit instead of radials. 100w cw and ssb got lots of qso's into eu, scan and the USA also managed to work Dave G4AKC bicycle in blackpool from zl great fun. I have some info and video on my qrz page which you might interesting and Dave's page has lots of info. Hi Brian, thanks for the info, I also use a MFJ-1644 that has a ground tuner, it's a great bit of kit when it's not falling to bits, had a few issues with build quality, VK3YE has built a ground tuner I'm going to build one myself this year they do a better job than laying out lot's of separate radials, I think having a tuned counterpoise make's for an more efficient antenna.

Hi Steve, it's a LiFePo4 12v 6a battery there's plenty of them available on Amazon and eBay, if you get one make sure you have the right charger for it.
