    I have a Vinyl Fence installed in my Backyard last year in November and I love it. The only thing is..... I am kinda OCD In some ways unlike you guys out there, and I just don’t like the SPACE GAPS between the gate and the vinyl fence....i know it cannot be avoided because of the hinges and the Gate Locks, but I wish there was a way to cover the space between the hinges of the fence and the swing gate.....other than that, I love Vinyl Fences......i had to ask my contractor 5 panels so I can stake them in front of those gaps of the two gates i had installed ....I have to unstake them everytime yard guys come to cut the grass so I could open the gate for them.....too much work for me especially now that summer is near.....my husband is okay with the gaps, but definitely not for me.....is there any other way I could cover these gaps?

      I'm NOT a vinyl fence installation person but I was wondering the same thing. Maybe take extra slats from the fence sections, cut them to length and use construction adhesive to apply them like you would a trim piece to the side that swings out so the gap would be covered? You'd have to pay attention to make sure it's straight and you're applying it to the correct side for sure though and not sure how you'd finish the ends of the pieces.

      Something we've done is cut a post down the length into " L " shaped pieces. Cut to the height of the gate and then screw to the post inside the edge of the gate opposite the hinge side of gate . Do the same on the strike post.

    The fence gate hardware (alignment screws/ nuts) is on the outside. Shouldn't you put it on the inside so someone can't take it apart? Or does it matter?

    • @Ty-tie_FTW
      @Ty-tie_FTW Рік тому

      If you want the gate to open to the other side, backyard swing in this case you would put the hardware on the other side. If someone wants or needs to get through the gate they will be able to without dismantling the hardware

    I'm going to be doing this gate setup in the spring or summer, would it possible to put an aluminum sleeve in the vertical slat that holds the latch? I plan on putting a wheel on the bottom of each gate to support the weight if they make one for vinyl.

    Ok. But how would you install a 4’ tall double gate on top of existing concrete? Is there a way to do it without cutting the concrete?

    • @johnshanahan6439
      @johnshanahan6439 6 днів тому +1

      You have two choices. 1) Cut or drill the concrete post holes OR 2) use post bases & drill 4 concrete anchors (per base) into the cement.

      If you are using brackest to hang the panels. Yes. Otherwise if the post are slotted you will run into problems as the rails (top & bottom) will be obstructed by the 4x4. What I did was I cut it as far down as possible to prevent this problem.

    I'm in the middle of built for inground pool. Inspection is requesting that my 10ft gate(like in the video) have to be
    self closing and one gate opens towards the outside of the house. Now both doors swing towards inside the house. Is this doable?

      Absolutely, you will need self closing hinges and alternate the side of post your gate hinges from.
