Well done I’m curious tho is the only reason you didn’t hinge on the house side due to the slope or would you have done the same on level ground. How do you prevent the post from bending from the gates weight?Is there a 4x4 post inside?
Their is a 16guage stell insert inside the post. I always hang my gate of the lower post. I try to avoid gate post against the house because the foundation pops out. It is doable but I will use tap cons or somthing to anchor it to the foundation if I have to
I was told, if a gate is on a slope… the latch has to be on the other side, so the swinging action goes down hill. 😮 It not always the case apparently. Did the customer not say anything about trying to regrade the land so at the very least, the gate could be plumb? It’s understandable the fence would be racked, but the gate too? It’s all quite interesting.🤔 I haven’t ever installed a gate so this is all new to me.
Great video. I’m trying to order the fence online. Mine will be mounted like this one, to the house, but the other side to a post only (not to a fence). Would I use an end post for both sides of the gate?
When have you guys ever seen a 5" spigot? The vinyl post is 5" plus their is an additional 1" gaps so the spigot should be 6" plus right ??? LoL do your homework fellas.
Dude you should have made another video and deleted this one. Angle was wrong, post against the house was too tall, you then cut down the post and graded the dirt below to follow the gate (which would have been fine if you explained it).. Gate hit the spigot. On top of that you denied everything when called out below. It's all in your video.
Look at the siding on the house and the post height. It didn't move. Re-watch the video. That's what the crossbrace is for. The spigot thing you have got to be joking right? Who would actually believe that???

It's important to know that your brace is on backwards.
This is the correct way to put the brace on. If you were to do it the opposite direction it wound just bow in the middle and be pointless to have.

It sounds like you need to blank post. Do you already have a side fence?
How much did you shorten the water spigot pipe to be able to get the gate open?
The post against the house is 5" and clears the water spigot with out any issues.
@@tonywilliams4764 You can clearly see the gate hit the spigot a few times that's why you didn't open the gate fully.

Level the ground.
Mount the gate to the post closest to house, and Away from the pipe extending off house.

I love these braces. We get them custom rolled and powder coated for us.
why wasnt the latch on the same side as the cross brace on the inside of the yard? thx.
Because the customer wanted the gate to swing out and it's a personal preference of mine to hind it in the back yard as I find it tacky
