I *adore* Text Expander. That little pop makes me happy because I know it’s saving me time in tedium and drudgery. I do think that if I knew how to use AHK well it would be unnecessary. It’s a good goal to reduce costs next year.

I was looking forward to this... But then I decided to check out the payment model to find out if it was a perpetual license or subscription. ...It is a SUBSCRIPTION (for anyone reading this who is like me and refuses to pay forever on something unless absolutely dire).
I totally understand how you feel about subscriptions... all of these small $ amounts for this and that quickly add up to a substantial monthly outgoing. In the case of Text Expander, though, it really does save me far more time than the cost of the subscription, so it is one of the subscriptions that really quantifiably pays for itself in that respect. That said, you can doe something similar within Mac OS itself, albeit not as full featured... Go to 'System Settings', then 'Keyboard', then in the 'Text Input' Section, click on 'Text Replacements...' Here you can create text snippets in a similar way to Text Expander. :-)
I’m a long-time TextExpander too! Have you found the iOS/iPad versions to be finicky as to whether they expand? (I also hate having to change to the TE keyboard on an iPad because you have to use the virtual keyboard and not an attached physical keyboard, but that’s an Apple thing and not TE…)
I've never run into any issue with TextExpander on iOS when using the TE keyboard, but it is such a shame that it can not be the default keyboard when using an attached physical keyboard. As it is, I primarily us it on my phone, on screen.... I don't do as much on the iPad as I used to... largely because it is most often in my daughter's hands with Minecraft running on it!! 😂
Thank you🙏😊! Yes, there is a bad delay in the second half of this video!! Normally I don't do edits in my videos, just all one take. However in this video I had to cut a section out (when I demoed the email text expansion, it revealed some contacts' e-mail addresses so I had to cut them out. I just did this in Quicktime by splitting the clip twice and deleting the section to be removed. It seems that this then saved the new clip with the audio sync issue in the second half! By the time I noticed, it was already uploaded. Thanks for letting me know, though. 🙏 😊
