Introduction to Keyboard Maestro - The Ultimate Mac Productivity Tool!
In this video I give an introduction to Keyboard Maestro and explain what it is and how it works. There really is not enough time in a whole day to explain all of the things you can do with Keyboard Maestro, but hopefully this video should give a little insight into the possibilities.
Keyboard Maestro costs $36 and is worth every cent! You can download a trial and purchase from Stairways Software's website here: www.keyboardma...

Yo!
Looks like you are now my guy for macros. I just installed Keyboard Maestro and was looking for instruction. You have a great style and I like the way you are presenting the imagery on the screen. Well organized. I'm impressed already by your ideas on automation - the hide all windows, for example. Good stuff. Keep up the good work and thanks for providing your expertise to the world.
Thank you Patrick! I’ve got plenty more Keyboard Maestro Videos to come!
Do you have a video on how to automate a MIDI action with Rodecaster Pro 2?
Alec, thanks for combining the KM introduction with Stream Deck. Very helpful and just what I was looking for.
Really pleased it was helpful Dave! 🙏🙂
This is awesome as always Alec. I have purchased it just off the back of this. Would love to see more,
Thanks Chris... plenty more Keyboard Maestro videos on the way! 🙏😊
CAUTION! Never watch one of Alec’s TakeOneTech videos on a Friday. I just watched Intro to Keyboard Maestro. there goes one of my weekend days as I integrate this time-saving efficient app into my streaming and set up workflow!! Thank You Alec……. Sort of! Laughs!!!1
Hahaha sorry about that Mike 😂😂. More Keyboard Maestro videos coming soon!
I love KM for music writing shortcuts, but also now use it for EVERYTHING! So powerful :)
I’m with you there!!! KM is one of those tools that just feels like it offers limitless possibilities! I can’t possibly begin to imaging how much time it has saved me over the years…. Out of all the productivity apps and tools, I think KM is the one I couldn’t live without.
Would you be able to share more about your flows? I'm keen to learn more about this (happy to watch your videos too if you're interested)
Gratings!
I like your mouse locator. Who makes it?
It's a Mac app called Pro Mouse: apps.apple.com/gb/app/pro-mouse/id1505869474?mt=12
Here's a video I made about the app: ua-cam.com/video/USCVKafnLow/v-deo.html
Found this really useful, thanks!
Really pleased it was helpful for you 🙏🙂
Awesome video! I have teams open during the day and have two questions:
1. Is there a way to trigger do not disturb when joining meetings (not starting app) so that I can turn on Mac do not disturb?
2. What can I do to keep active on chat? I created a simple macro that activates team, then types a letter every 4 minutes but it's not elegant as it doesn't bring back focus back to current app if I'm actually working on something... what's the better way of doing this?
Really cool video! Thanks for that. One thing that annoys me on the Mac is this: If Safari is hidden when I close it, it'll be hidden too when I launch it again later. So I need another click to show it. I tried with Keyboard Maestro to make it show its window with a Launch trigger, but it didn't work. Any clues on how to do that?
Can we use macro with sql? Like if whenever we create a macro, it's macro name and macro uuid will save to my db that I created?
I want to manipulate a window, and in this particular case, the "Console" window from Universal Audio. The "Manipulate A Window" macro works on every other window I tried it on, but I can't seam to get it to work on the afore mentioned one. I can't imagine why that is. Thank you for your videos.
Hello,
I would like to know how to do the following on Keyboard Maestro: I'd like to be able to select a bunch of files on my desktop and make Keyboard Maestro to move those files to the subfolder that has the same name as the Tag of the file. Such subfolders would always be, let's say, in the Documents folder. Of course, I would have previously created those subfolders. The workflow I'm searching here is to tag files rather than moving files. I'm looking for the moving action to be automatized and Hazel does not have this option I just described.
Thanks a lot!
By the way, are you planning to make more videos about Keyboard Maestro?
Is it possible to use Keyboard Maestro to automatically take a full screenshot of the screen once per minute and save it to an appended file or a series of files?
Hey Alec, great video! I’ve got a question. Does Keyboard Maestro recognize things like rotary encoders? I’m exploring the possibility of using a rotary encoder or other knob on an external usb macropad to control the sliders in Adobe Lightroom.
Hey Corey, that is a great question and I don’t immediately know the answer… I think it should do because it can recognize gestures on input devices and in some respects a rotatary encoder is sending a specific gesture… You’ve got me thinking now so I’ll do some further investigation and report back! 😊
pls help...is there an option ,,ignore when typing text,, in keyboard maestro?? i cant find that, and I think its very important for the key commands..regards
Does a hotkey inside a hotkey work? E.g. I want the second hotkey just to execute if it has been primed by the first hotkey.
Now that my 2022 goal setting is done I guess I can dive into some serious automation geekery, right?
... I really do need to finish of my whole Keyboard Maestro series of videos!!
@@TakeOneTech YAAS! I still haven’t wrapped my head around the ideas yet, need to see more examples 🙋♀️
Can the actions be key strokes such as Tab, Enter, Spacebar, ....? Or a series of these?
Yes as seen at 9:30 in this video: ua-cam.com/video/EGW1oCVLG48/v-deo.html
why not use raycast?
Super Stuff. This guy is next level! :)
Thank you! 🙏😊

Good Show.
Thanks Michael 🙏😊
This is brutal, you start out by saying you are going to create a simple macro, and then make the viewer sit through you blathering on about every little thing the program can do. Get to the point man. go into the fine detail in another video. I am going to look for another tutorial
