Sweet! Handy vid mate 👍 I've only recently got on the Textexpander wagon for basic things, but you've motivated me to make time to dig further. Thanks again 🤜🤛
Sweet! That's a win for the vid then 😁 Even if you just set up a few things to start and get in the habit of setting up things that you know you'll need again, before you know it you'll be a power user
@@_jimmyrose Please ping Zapier and TE with this idea. Imagine social media posts from a snippet? All of your snippets in Airtable? I am TE and Zapier are my crack apparently!
@@appcrazee Unless I dreamed it, I asked this of TE already. Or at least said why an API would be amazing. I wonder if there's a similar tool that already can do this.
Question for you. Here is what I want to do. I have some Word templates I use. They are outline templates. I come in and there are Two places the Title, Date, series are placed. Can I use Text Expander within a Word Template? Or does Text Expander have outlining capabilities. I know it isn't meant to be a Word Processor so that is why I would like to come into my template do kind of like I have seen people talk about with email. But do that within Word. Any ideas there?
You can add formatting in Textexpander so you might be able to do what you want. I'm not sure what your template looks like so I can't say for sure. But if it's only basic formatting it should be ok
Hey ole Text Expander guru. Have you ever gotten Text Expander snippets to work with in a Microsoft office template? I want to populate my Word template with say ?Title in the title of course and the footer of an outline template. When I open the template in word I would like it to force the title from me and put in the document everywhere I have place the snippet. Short if Microsoft buying the Text Expander company is there any way of doing this?
Awesome -- it appears that you can sync up mobile with desktop through Dropbox. Have you done that? If so, no wonder you are able to take such awesome trips my friend :) - that's gotta save a boat load of time.
Haha! It stores it all in your account so I assumed it synced without dropbox. They don't have an Android app so I can't even try I believe the only way it would work is to replace your keyboard anyway, which I'm not sure I'd want
@@_jimmyrose Hmmm maybe I'll have to give it a try and see how things go -- I've always used Alfred and the standard keyboard in iOS (I'll be moving back to Android though in the future) and it's clumsy because I often forget that on the mobile I don't have some of the shortcuts I do on the desktop

Another incredibly easy, awesome to follow video Jimmy. I’m super inspired to make more use of TextExpander now.
Thanks Oliver! That means a lot

@@_jimmyrose Just found this so I can export and add them to my Android app for snippets. (and Airtable) app.textexpander.com/settings/export
Oh now that is interesting. What app are you using on Android?
Great vídeo, it’s crazy to think how much time we spend typing and how little we think about how to improve it!
100%
Thanks for dropping by. Glad you liked the vid
Love TextExpander -- have used it for years and tried other products and few are as good as TE.
That's good to hear. I've been thinking of checking out some others to see how they stack up
Great video as always Jimmy. I found a great of ideas here!
That's awesome! Thanks for letting me know it was helpful :)
Wow the UTM link stuff, worth it just for that!
That's one of my favs too 👌
Huge fan. waiting for the Zapier Text Expander integration!
OMG this would be the best. I looked into APIs or any way to do this and nada :(

This is awesome dude, had this on my todo list for ages, you had me at second only to zapier
Sweet! Happy to get you over the line
Oh wow, I’m going to check this out!
It's one hell of a tool!
Is there a way to format it so I can have something say Watch Video and have the link be something that I enter?
Gentleman, I am looking for Vice to text expanders in any tool. I want to say code in voice which returns a sentence.
Where is this data stored? If you are putting bank details it could be risky. Also do you always have to use notepad++?
Hey, nice tips and nice tshirt. Greetings from lockdown in Victoria.
Cheers mate hope your shirt is still intact. Hope you're finding ways to deal with all the crap down there

I don't think so. You could use the MS Word keyboard shortcut to open the header then use your TextExpander shortcut - that would still be pretty fast
